Yannick Bolasie is in line to start for Palace at the Hawthorns. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with United, Louis van Gaal plays down the seriousness of Anthony Martial’s hamstring problem, whilst Ryan Shawcross remains sidelined for Stoke’s battle with Villa at the Britannia. Here’s what we have so far ahead of the weekend’s eight matches.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out for a number of weeks with a knee injury sustained in Arsenal’s midweek Champions League clash with Barcelona. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that Gabriel will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Sunday’s trip to United.

Tony Pulis is optimistic on Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley’s chances of making West Brom’s home match with Palace after both trained all week. Pulis is also hopeful on Jonny Evans’s fitness, just four days after ruling the former United man out for “a while”.

With Harry Kane missing out due to a broken nose, Nacer Chadli led the line for Tottenham’s win over Fiorentina last night as Mauricio Pochettino’s men progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League. Dele Alli retained his advanced central role behind the lone striker despite the absence of Mousa Dembele – Ryan Mason partnered Eric Dier in the double-pivot instead and grabbed the opener courtesy of an Alli assist. The latter’s second-half caution means he misses the first league of the next round of the competition. Reports in the local press earlier today indicate that Kane is set to return to training today ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Swansea.

Swansea, meanwhile, have a fully fit squad for the trip to White Hart Lane, Alan Curtis has confirmed.

Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross has conceded he is “not quite ready” to return at home to Villa this weekend as he steps up his recovery from an ongoing back injury.

Alan Pardew reckons that fit-again Yannick Bolasie is ready to start for Palace this weekend after being utilised as a sub in the FA Cup win at Spurs last time out. Bakary Sako “is close” to a return to action, though the Eagles boss is still undecided over the winger’s weekend availability. Jason Puncheon is out for two more weeks, though.

Rudy Gestede has been passed fit for Villa’s trip to Stoke after recovering from a hamstring problem. Fellow forward Gabby Agbonlahor is also available after being forced off with dizziness last time out. Jack Grealish, Carlos Sanchez, Libor Kozak and Adama Traore are still sidelined, whilst Jordan Ayew serves the last of a three-match ban.

Andy Carroll and Winston Reid are back in training ahead of West Ham’s clash with Sunderland, though the latter is still a doubt for tomorrow. Enner Valencia will be assessed, though the Hammers have Cheick Kouyate available after the FA overturned his one-match ban in midweek.

Jose Manuel Jurado is likely to miss Watford’s clash with Bournemouth as he continues to recover from a calf complaint. Joel Ekstrand is back in training as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Southampton have no new injury concerns ahead of their home clash with Chelsea, Ronald Koeman has confirmed. Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez are back in training from long-term injuries, though neither are available yet, with the Saints boss admitting that the latter will be handed some minutes with the reserves over the next couple of weeks before being considered for selection.

Daniel Amartey is in contention to make his Leicester debut, according to Claudio Ranieri. With Danny Simpson serving a one-match suspension, the Foxes boss revealed that he’s considering Amartey, Marcin Wasilewski and even Marc Albrighton for the right-back berth at home to Norwich. Jeffrey Schlupp has returned to full training after finally overcoming a hamstring problem.

Billy Jones, Younes Kaboul, Jan Kirchhoff and Seb Larsson are all available for Sunderland’s trip to West Ham tomorrow lunchtime. Jeremain Lens remains sidelined with a hernia problem but has a chance of returning next weekend, though Duncan Watmore faces weeks out due to ankle ligament damage.

Anthony Martial was withdrawn from the United starting line-up last night after picking up a hamstring problem during the warm-up. Post-match, Louis van Gaal played down the Frenchman’s complaint, though it remains to be seen if he’ll be ready for Sunday’s home encounter with Arsenal.

Swansea are terrible. Spurs one of the fittest teams in the league, with the title in their sights. Shouldn't be much of an issue.

        Have you seen them yesterday?

They don't need Dembele to be much better than Viola, so they don't need him either when they play Swansea.

Yeah but assuming Kane is in everyone's team who has triple Spurs he didn't play last night. No Dembele can be a worry but I can't imagine one player being the reason for Spurs not winning at home

Assuming I do Firmino -> Arnie with my freebie this week, given the latest tweet on JEvans having a chance of making it, is it still worth ditching him for a hit this week? Only have 10 starters if he doesnt

    Elliot
    Bellerin, Wolly, JEvans*
    Sanchez, Mahrez, Payet, Arnie, Alli
    Kane, Vardy

    Hennessey, Moreno, Simpson, Aguero
    Bank 3.3m, 0FT

If you had DDG and McCarthy as goalkeepers, would you do McCarthy to Butland for a hit? United have two blanks coming up anyway so I'll need a second keeper that plays. I was planning that transfer for free in the coming weeks but this DDG injury is forcing my hand.

Arnie for me because although his fixtures are good his recent form has been poor, he seems an illness/injury magnet and he has a tendency to only show up for big games.

Who is the worst player you have ever seen playing live?

I saw David Hopkin have an absolute mare for Palace against Ipswich once. Couldn't control the ball, pass it 2 yards and didn't even manage many fouls (which seemed to be his best attribute). He got taken off at half time!

A few I saw consistently for Everton growing up: Richard Wright, Niclas Alexandersson, Alex Nyarko, Ibrahim Bakayoko. I remember seeing Jon Stead play against us for Sunderland: he was absolutely appalling, and still managed to score (his 1st goal in a year I believe).

No sight has ever filled me less with confidence than watching Richard Wright miss shots and drop balls in the warm up.

Richard Wright was generally brilliant at Ipswich. Flapped at the odd cross but made so many great saves. Should never have gone to Arsenal (would have also meant we didn't pay £4.5m for Matteo Sereni who never left his line!)

Richard Wright, Paul Gerrard and Steve Simonsen - Tim Howard doesn't seem as bad when you grew up with that.

And Andy van der Meyde was appalling, I was expecting the Ajax van der Meyde, and he was so unfit and dreadful.

However, he provided an amazing summation of why he struggled in Liverpool:

The article reveals how Drenthe received a phone call on August 29, 2011. It was Andy van der Meyde.

“Royston, I hear that you are on your way to Everton,” he said. “Don’t do it boy, I beg you, don’t do it.

“Liverpool has too many temptations for guys like us. Before you know it you will be dragged into the nightclubs.

“There Bacardi flows and you can ski on cocaine; and the women, Royston. Oh man, oh man, oh man. Those British women with their short skirts . . . .’’

That article is brilliant - love the image of Andy being some kind of guinea pig who goes ahead as an advance party to check out an area for Women and Booze - like a fat, crap James Bond who can't even be bothered to tuck his shirt in properly - sure Andy hated that 3 day mission to go to Russia to research the women and the nightlife - what a selfless guy falling on his sword like that!

Several Bristol City/Rovers players have played dreadfully while suffering from drink, sometimes on the morning of the game. One - Frankie Prince of Rovers - once got KO'd by a goal kick, the wet, old leather ball hitting the back of his head when he wasn't looking and he was helped off the pitch with no obvious use of his legs.

I'm at a bit of an advantage here having grown up with Scottish Football, which provides a rich source of options - Junior Mendes sticks in the mind - started his career at Chelsea, now at Clydebank - that well worn path for footballers! Remember watching him for Dunfermline warming up pre match on his own with a set of 7 a side goals, he had clearly been told to work on his finishing so was just blasting the ball at the goals from a few yards out - no keeper - embarrassingly he didn't score one. The gaffer came over and had a word with him, took him to one side and the goals were carted off - I was presuming he was being sent home but No! Couple of lackeys then bring over a full size set for him to try his luck at, again with hilarious results. He never did score for The Pars...

Worst one in prem terms has to be Tore Andre Flo - had seem him only in highlights where he looked Quality, in the flesh he was a massive donkey who barely touched the ball all game and when he did kept tripping over it. Then Rangers paid £12m for him...ah the glory days of Scottish football in a nutshell there
