Thoughts on Cout Clichy > Nasri Bellerin ?

      Any hits involved?

Nasri could be a great differential. And really Bellerin is a must have.

Well, I think Arsenal defensive coverage, in particular Bellerin, is a must.

The Nasri one could go either way.

    Bottomed out.

I've been off the site for the past few days. Did anyone else's team follow the pattern of...

1- Having a great overall rank before this gameweek
2 - Using the wildcard, making a ton of changes
3 - Plummeting down the ranks as your former team scores absurdly high

Been a very hard gameweek to watch for me. Had I not touched my team at all I'd have been so much better off. Hoping the DGW and bench boost is going to make it a little more bearable.

WC'd in 32. Got a great gw rank then, however, that gave the opportunity to TC this week, so last weeks goodness has been tarnished this week. Still though, 2 greens in a row so happy(ish)

I kept Mahrez and Kane. Sold Alli and Dier for Bolasie and Jagielka.
It's just the nature of the game. Some changes work and some don't.

I sold Vardy and Alli, benched Aldeweireld.

You're completely right. It's always frustrating when you can kind of tell what's going to happen and that you've made a mistake as soon as the gameweek starts though.

Yes, and I'll add that I have to replace two injured Everton guys. Just made some bad decisions based on high team value and no hedging of Everton with Palace.

Not really. Form is temporary, class not. You can't hand on heart say the likes of Kaku, Barkley, coleman etc are not class players.

          Was a calculated risk.

Played percentages hoping that at least one game would result in points. Lesson learned was to balwnce the teqm more. Bad luckmwith jags and lennon, and i went with my money and chose ddg over robles. Jags was my robles, sorta.Bummed I got injuries instead.

I need 2 man united clean sheets for ddg to outpoint Robles, and for my two Everton injured replacements to produce. These selections will be important.

"hoping the DGW and bench boost is going to make it a little more bearable"

well, yeah! that's the point. we picked GW34 teams in 33 so we could play the BB chip. all of these WC teams are sub-optimal for this week. I lucked out with 74 points but people should have expected sub 50 or worse.

      1. Atwood
        • 16 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

You got 74 points, you're not invited to this party of shared regret!

But yeah, you're right. There was always a risk it could go wrong, and ultimately I (and everyone else I guess) took that risk.

🙂 I just don't think it's gone wrong for anyone doing this BB WC strategy. we've made teams for next week so we can play 30 players rather than 11. this week is damage control, at best.

      Same boat, same idea.

Thinking it's between him, Milner and Nasri now. All constitute a risk; if Pool lose tomorrow I'll serious consider Milner.

Back of my mind is gw35... Will Mata get me 4+a massive haul which means it was worth me getting him in and then removing for a hit...

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Already own Milner and think he's far less of a risk than the other two given Henderson is out.

Liked Mata as a punt given his fixtures but it's hard to justify bringing in a game time risk with no GW35. Alternatives aren't jumping out at me though....

Great call on Milner, I out thought myself on that one :(.

I'm thinking nasri because he's not in the UCL squad meaning he's at least nailed for 35.

But tomorrow is key. If Liverpool lose I might just get Firmino in, too (already have Coutinho and Sakho).

Maybe. Lanzini is less of a game time risk than Lennon, should have scored this week and has a DGW37 too.

    3. Jay_
      10 years, 3 months ago

I think if you're gonna take a hit, unless it's a United player, the person coming in has to play 35 because it all seems a waste of time otherwise.

Yes. I need to do this. Not sure it will be lanzini or milner or Alli. I have to replace jagielka too. If playing bench boost, a hit is worth it as we would get two games instead of possibly one or even none, due to injury status of our toffees.

If the player we acquire, say lanzini, needs to be replaced for gw35, then it does potentially defeat the strategy. If you've got 10 or 11 gw35 and can merely bench lanzini in gw35, then definitely get him.

      1. F_Ivanovic
        • 10 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

I kind of think the opposite. If your doing well in your mini-league then it could be worth it. Has more guarantee of points than Sanchez/Ozil as 2 CS look a strong possibility so it's a good way to hold onto your lead (or not let others catch up too much) - but if chasing, you want someone with explosive potential like Sanchez.

        1. Atwood
          • 16 Years
          10 years, 3 months ago

Hmm true, but Sanchez/Ozil are more popular choices, so there's a bigger chance the person you're chasing captains the same player and cancels you out. I don't think many will be going Bellerin TC.

      Considered it myself.
TC means 36 if 2 clean sheets.
Any bonus, goals and assists could be 40 to 50+
But if he concedes then it could be a waste.

Chuffed that Crystal Palace defenders kept 2 CSs, at home to Norwich and Everton (both toothless)

Realistically you're not expecting anything more than 1-2 points for each across the double.

Delaney > Fosu (FT) seems logical, even if it means a -4 hit to get another player in GW35.

Just done my team for next week - it's a sea of red.

    Hennessey

    Fosu-Menseh/ Moreno/ Van Djik/ Bellerin/ Smalling

    Ozil/ Firmino/ Sanchez (C)/ Lingard

    Origi

Hart, Lanzini, Lukaku and Aguero on the bench. (BB)

Only Van Djik with his red and white strip that's stopping the entire outfield being all red! I could have gone Payet, but the shade of red is too different.

Who is more likely to play both DGW34 games: Gabriel or Fosu-Mensah?

Both will get at least one each. Fosu more likely to get both imo

Moreno ... more attacking returns of recent.

I own Clyne, however, and will gladly stick!

Yeah. It's week 35 I'd be worried about. Either way he'll miss 1 of the 3 games I think.

I highly doubt it. Kolarov's been good since returning and Pellegrini will have no problem playing him instead of Clichy.

Sad day for football with ultra defence Athletico going through.

I disagree. Football is about having a balanced team. They scored two remember.

Remember Middlesborough(sp)? Going down yet still having Ravenelli etc in their team and scoring loads. Gotta have that good balance.

Why's that, they deserve the win IMHO ... if Neymar, Suarez and Messi can't find a goal amoungst them then they don't deserve to go through. They are literally 3 of the top 10 forwards in the world, all in one team with an epic midfield serving them up.

Why? Because if all teams played like Athletico, I wouldn't watch football.

It's called getting the job done ... I don't think they sit down and think about how they might best entertain casual football viewers ... they are about winning silverware plain and simple. If that means parking buses then so be it. I mean I didn't particularly enjoy watching Mourinho's Chelsea grind out 1-0 wins a few years back but you have to respect the result!

They still have the same # of league goals as Arsenal this season and just scored 3 over two legs vs Barca. 2/10 must troll harder.

You just KNOW the minute you get rid of Lukaku he'll hit his straps. All this talk of transferring him out is very tempting, but you can imagine the scenes here on Saturday when he pops a penalty in against Southampton 🙂

    He's such a b@stard!

Still only 22 and can score against anyone, out-muscle anyone. Haven't watched any of the recent games, don't know what's going on, but keeping for gw34. There was a game a couple of years ago against Arsenal where they played him out on the wing and he tore us apart--think he got two, and was glad it wasn't five. Not burning a FT on a DGW to look for greener pastures.

I agree with you entirely ... it's just tempting to swap to Sturridge who is back and fit and in form and has 2 better fixtures and plays GW35.

I wouldn't get him in if you don't already have him. Might be ok for both 34, but 35 you need all your players with fixtures to play and that is the bigger risk.

Gameweek 21 Test Eagles scores a moderate 42 points in a tough gameweek to score a green arrow and teeter on the brink of top 50k.

13 gameweeks, 9,425 hours, 3 million keystrokes, 48 sleepless nights, a marriage and 2 jobs later Test Eagles climbs the ranks to 47k ... later realising if he hadn't changed his team at all he would have had a higher rank!

This game!! I mean I love it ... but really!!
