Dugout Discussion – Portugal vs Austria

Saturday’s events end with a collision between two sides scrapping for a Euro 16 foothold.

Austria arrived in France with a laudable record in qualifying and were considered a darkhorse. But Marcel Koller’s men were found wanting in their opening fixture, frustrated and eventually overwhelmed by the Hungarians.

That 2-0 defeat means that tonight’s meeting with Portugal is now more vital than ever.

Fernando Santos’ side are also in dire need of the victory.

They were unable to overcome an Icelandic barrier to earn victory in their opening group encounter and now found themselves on the back foot. Defeat to Austria would swing the group wide open, leading to a dramatic final round of matches later this week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Should I go for Barzagli over Bonucci? More nailed for the next game but doesn't have any attacking potential like Bonucci with his long passes.

      Wouldn't be a bad time to wc, Payet, Giroud and Morata all could be rested and Fabregas, Schar, Kos, and Forsberg could all probably be swapped for better

    Just got back from the Coldplay concert they are brilliant Live worth 8 hours standing and queing. Much see if you haven't experience Coldplay Live.

    Back to footy. Does anyone know until which game week can you hold your WC until. Also those you use the Euros App where do you find your wc .

      Try to make some transfers (more than you have), then a button will come up saying 'play wildcard' alongside how many transfers you will be making

      I'd say out of the million +people playing this game, your team needs the wildcard the most.
      I can't emphasize how much you need to wildcard, don't even think twice about it.

          Can you afford Bale? If so, definitely go for him. If not, I would be tempted to hold onto a Lukaku over a Milik.

      It's a pain the a**e. Hit the transfers button , make a couple and then LHS play wildcard appears. Hit this confirm and bobs yer uncle. Just do a couple of transfers at a time , the site doesn't be able to cope with much more.

      Very strong, I especially like the midfield; however, I would still be slightly worried about rotation in your defence:
      Alba and Pique might be rotated, as well as Giaccherini. Plus, Sturridge is a bit of a risk. Although Kane has been ineffective, Hodgson does love him.

        Taking risks stage. Hoping to get 3 Def out of that lot and working on the assumption that only 1 of the Spain Def will get rotated. Also hope wc now means that I eliminate price rise risk with quite a few of these to give more options moving forward. Thanks for replying.

      I think Sturridge is a great shout with Bale. Option A gives you the 2 ultimate fpl donkey options so would avoid.

          If they both start, replace Yarmolenko (what I'd do) or Rodriguez for an almost guaranteed CS. I've also heard that Bonucci is a rotation risk but I'd keep.

    I've just FT'd to this team (Pogba->Payet, Denayer->Giacch)

    Would you WC? I like the idea of having it for QF's, but worried that Juanfran, Payet, Muller and Giroud could all be rested.

    But even worse, I'm worried about the price changes (hence getting Payet in now).

    Thoughts appreciated.

      I'd probably wildcard. There's too many names in there that are doubtful to start (Alba, Giacherini, Payet etc).

        hmm i dont think payet and alba are likely to be rotated. payet is frances best player and they will want to win the group, and alba was brought of early last game so can see him playing again. are there any other players in there that you think are a risk, maybe gotze and nolito?

        your team looks pretty good, lacking a bit up front id say but wouldnt say its worth a wildcard

      Great rank btw , well done.
      Don't like the keepers , Goetze and Stanciu are risky and so far Muller has been crap. I think Sturridge and Bale are worth a punt.

        yea not too happy with the keepers but reckon patricio has a decent chance against hungary, probably not worth changing unless nothing else needs to be done.

        agree with gotze but i reckon if hes rested itll see muller moved to striker so could be worth keeping both just in case.
        stanciu rested last game as well so could well play, will have lineups before as well.

        do you reckon i should wait for lineups and if giroud is benched get someone like milik/sturridge in?

    I am not wildcarding because that would be silly. If I were I'd definitely start with a front line of griezmann sturridge lewondowski. Stanciu and hamsik gotta be in midfield.
