Saturday’s events end with a collision between two sides scrapping for a Euro 16 foothold.

Austria arrived in France with a laudable record in qualifying and were considered a darkhorse. But Marcel Koller’s men were found wanting in their opening fixture, frustrated and eventually overwhelmed by the Hungarians.

That 2-0 defeat means that tonight’s meeting with Portugal is now more vital than ever.

Fernando Santos’ side are also in dire need of the victory.

They were unable to overcome an Icelandic barrier to earn victory in their opening group encounter and now found themselves on the back foot. Defeat to Austria would swing the group wide open, leading to a dramatic final round of matches later this week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Thinking about this QF wildcard.

You can have 4 players from a single team in R/O16. It's more than reasonable to pick a solid team with a focus on the winners who play 3rd placed weaker teams. Spain would obviously take up 4 places easily. France and Germany can also be dominant. Italy defence worth stacking up on.

4 Transfers come the QF round may well be enough, based on a squad of 15

So WC now, and stack up on those teams?

Nope you get unlimited transfers in Matchday 4. Hence a wildcard in MD3 is essentially a 'scout picks' purely on the next batch of fixtures. A great chance to get ahead of the pack imo

If I WC now and get all top players based on performance till now in my squad. So when price changes occur after Round 3, would I benefit with increased team value?

Using Wildcard to go from this:

    Rui Patricio Sommer
    Dier Juanfran Hector Rami Strinic
    Hamsik Perisic Fabregas Payet Alaba
    Kane Muller Giroud

    to:

    Rui P Hennessey
    Dier Alba Hector Rami Guerreiro
    Perisic Kroos Iniesta Payet Hazard
    Morata Studge Milik

    Thoughts?

      1. BRS75
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 1 month ago

Feel my whole front line is useless, add alaba and strinic who I think will get no points. I also don't get why people think wildcarding in QF is better. Also if I have in form players after MD3 I feel like I'll have more budget for MD4

Belgium since Sweden has not gotten a shot on target so far, while Belgium themselves are in a situation where they need a result. Portugal keep it tight at the back and need a win (and Hungary aren't the most threatening team around despite their success so far). Wales are worth a shout too I think, purely because Russia is really poor.

Agree with all those, but not sure about the Czechs. They need a win so they'll surely push for goals.

You guys should get to the finals easily. Messi showed up this Copa though in grand fashion, his best international showing by far. If Vidal can make it through, & Alexis keeps it up, I think we'll give you guys a proper match 😉

Not 100% sold on Romania since both them and Albania need a win to qualify (so both will try to grab a goal). Otherwise, I think the players selected are good. Many similar teams to the ones I'm backing, so maybe my opinion is biased.

      Good luck!

The only thing I can think of is an Italy defender. I would take a chance on Ogbonna or maybe upgrade to Barzagli.

You could enable that by going with the Albanian goalkeeper who is 4.5 (I honestly think that both Albania and Romania are about that and there's not much of a difference).

I agree though, double Romania sounds worse and you already have Guerreiro, so there's no reason to double up.

    Current side:

    Patricio, Kozacik
    Juanfran, Rami, Djourou, Strinic, Guerreiro
Payet, Hamsik, Perisic, Alaba, R. Sanches
Lewandowski, Muller, Giroud 2m in bank 1 FT

If by some miracle, Payet and Rami start, tempted to not WC and just do Giroud->Bale. Or, my WC is looking like this -

    Tatarusanu (ALB) Fabianski (UKR)
Meunier (SWE) Jedrzejcyk (UKR) Selassie (TUR) Hubnik (TUR) Guerreiro (HUN)
KdB (SWE) Gotze (NIR) Hamsik (ENG) Draxler (NIR) Duda (ENG)
Lewandowski (UKR) Bale (RUS) Lukaku (SWE)

Picking on the likes of Albania, Ukraine, Turkey, Sweden. Probably look to Lew, Bale, KdB as daily (C) choices. Thoughts?

Cheers TM, yeah if it weren't for this quirky pricing thing, I'd probably not hesitate, but worry about Payet going up, Juanfran going up, being priced out of ITL, ESP, FRA defenders. But, I suppose someone like Muller should be available for less than current price if he has another quiet one, so maybe it'll balance out enough.
