The Numbers Game – 2015/16 Review – West Brom

27 July 2016 1201 comments

Share:

The penultimate team in our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, are West Brom.

We get our analysis underway by assessing the Baggies team statistics and compare them to the rest of the Premier League and their previous league campaign. We then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources with one eye on the season kick-off in just over two weeks’ time.

The Baggies finished in fourteenth position last time out – just six points clear of the drop zone – after a dire run of form saw them draw four and lose five of their final nine league fixtures.

Pulis’ side struggled for a cutting edge and managed to find the net on just 34 occasions – down on their 38 goals from 2014/15 and a tally superior only to basement-dwellers Villa.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Hi folks, please RMT...

    Jaku - Foster

    Azpi - Shaw - Fernandez - Brunt - Francis
    Mkhi - Hazard - Siggy/Ayew - Tadic - Fletcher
    Aguero - Wilson - Benteke

    Please note that did:

    - KDB to Siggy to upgrade Diomande to Benteke
    - i only want Benteke if he goes to CP

Any thoughts? God, i want KDB back..

    Thanks in advance

Am i posting in the right section here? My posts never seem to come on screen. Am i right to post under the last comment on the moving comment list in the right of the screen?

The latest article is the top one with latest article next to it.
Sometimes people are replying in other articles.

Looks decent if Benteke goes to Palace and Brunt recovers from injury soon.

More perhaps. But that bogus Mahrez to Arsenal rumor is all but dead in the water, after the laughable journos at Eurosport FR (Dailyfail of France) conjured up the story. Everyone from Ranieri to his agent, etc have gone on to say it was a sheit tabloid rumor.

Pretty stark contrast to how he came out bout Kante's situation.

    Hi guys
How does this look like ? Constructive criticism welcome .

    Foster / Boruc
    Shaw / Friend / McAuley / Williams / Souaré
Townsend / De Bruyne / Mkhitaryan / Hazard / Shaqiri
    Agüero / Long / Campbell

I know its light in defence and really heavy in Midfield but i plan to try and play all my 5 Mids every week and i think having a strong Mid is the way to go this season . Any comments most welcome .

    Foster - Heaton
    Shaw - Terry - Stones - Friend - 4.5m
    Hazard - Tadic - Coutinho - Bolasie - 6m

With team names like that I always feel pressure to have that particular player in my team for the duration

I imagine there will be even more 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc teams with people going for weekly prizes.

Giroud and Özil doubts for GW1 as many Arsenal players are. Though Wenger will have to play some of them if he wants to even get a draw. Very short pre-season still a concern.

Anyone here considering going with Courtois + 4.5 WBA defender instead of Azpi + Foster for Chelsea and WBA defensive cover (saves 0.5m)?

I am considering it. Still on Azpi + Foster though. Thinking more baps for Azpi and more saves for Foster.

Saves money but loses points IMO, foster should get more save points and bonus, and azpi should outscore WBA defender.
      That's just my opinion

Terry won't be nailed if they sign a CB though.

    One of my favourite stats:

Franco Baresi & Paolo Maldini played 196 matches together at AC Milan and conceded just 29 goals.

Need to drop one of KDB/Haz/Mahrez to updgrade one of your 4.5 mids and maybe one of your 4.0 defs too.

Watmore is 5m actually, but still don't think he is gonna be a regular starter.

Yes did realise having those 3 in midfield left me a bit weakened elsewhere. Who would be your alternative pick in the Chelsea midfield? Fabregas?

Cesc is good if he starts. Could look at Tadic, Ayew/Siggy too.
