Our series of articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, comes to its conclusion with a look at West Ham.

First up, we cast an eye over the Hammers’ team statistics in Slaven Bilic’s first campaign in charge and compare them to the rest of the Premier League and the previous season. After that, we then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources ahead of the season kick-off in just over two weeks’ time.

After finishing in twelfth place in 2014/15, the club parted company with Sam Allardyce and installed Bilic at the helm as they looked to cultivate a more attack-minded style of play in their final season at Upton Park.

It’s fair to say that the Croatian made an instant impact – away wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in the opening six Gameweeks set the trend for what was to follow, as the Hammers finished in seventh spot on 62 points, just four points behind fourth-placed Man City and 15 more than they managed in Big Sam’s final year.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    It must be extremely demoralising being a Hull City fan atm. The club is in a complete shambles , no players coming in and no manager. Owners want to sell so everything comes to a halt. Sadly I think they will be this season's Villa.

      It could be worse I suppose, a lot of championship clubs would probably take that if it meant a season in the premier league

          Hull look like a big club from my perspective here in League Two.

          the chances of a club like Carlisle ever reaching the position of Hull are only there in theory

    [RESULTS OF THE POLL]

    20 people have voted in the poll "Same team, same position, similar price"

    The question was "Which one will score the most ?"

    Here are the results of the poll, ranked from the biggest gap to the closest. (The ones written in caps won the poll). I've also put the FPL ownership for comparison.

    ----------------------------------
    ERIKSEN vs Alli
    -> FFS Poll : Eriksen (17 votes) -> Alli (3 votes)
    -> FPL Ownership : Alli (12.4%) > Eriksen (11.2%)
    ----------------------------------
    TOWNSEND vs Bolasie
    -> FFS Poll : Townsend (14) > Bolasie (6)
    -> FPL Ownership : Townsend (7.8%) > Bolasie (4.7%)
    ----------------------------------
    MKHITARYAN vs Martial (one voted "same")
    -> FFS Poll : Mkhi (12) > Martial (7)
    -> FPL Ownership : Mkhi (22.5%) > Martial (7.9%)
    ----------------------------------
    LONG vs Austin
    -> FFS Poll : Long (12) > Austin (8)
    -> FPL Ownership : Long (15.7%) > Austin (2.9%)
    ----------------------------------
    COLEMAN vs Baines (1 voted "same")
    -> FFS Poll : Coleman (11) > Baines (8)
    -> FPL Ownership : Coleman (6.2%) > Baines (5.8%)
    ----------------------------------
    AYEW vs Siggy (2 voted "same")
    -> FFS Poll : Ayew (10) > Siggy (8)
    -> FPL Ownership : Siggy (9.5%) > Ayew (8.5%)
    ----------------------------------
    Willian vs Fabregas
    -> FFS Poll : Fabregas (10) = Willian (10)
    -> FPL Ownership : Willian (10.1%) > Fabregas (8.4%)

    ------------------------------------ Observations ------------------------------------

    - Enormous gap between Eriksen and Alli in the poll (17-3!), but very close in FPL.
    - Close between Long and Austin in the poll, but big gap in FPL (only 2.9 for Austin!)
    - Very undecided in both the poll and FPL between Ayew and Siggy ; Baines and Coleman ; Willian and Fabregas.
    - Martial and Austin could be great differentials, compared to their similar priced teammates Mkhi and Long...

      I can't see how people think Mhki will score more then Martial

      Martial already has a year in the PL, has anyone actually watched Mkhi play consistently or just basing it on stats and the fact his name gets thrown around on here?

        I've watched him play consistently. Brilliant player and gets loads of goals and assists.

        If him and Martial play similar number of minutes, I'm fairly certain Mkhitaryan will score more points.

        What's wrong with Lamela. Send nailed on, at a good team. Improving. On some set pieces. Excellent players around him which he links up well with. Two goals three assists in his last 5 bpl games last season. Was apparently excellent in a pre-season friendly vs juve.
        I think he could be good value for money at 7 mil

    Hi All...would appreciate any feedback on this lot:

    DeGea (Jaku)

    Walker Morgan Fernandez (Evans Paredes)

    Mahrez Alli Ayew Bolasie (Fletcher)

    Kun Ibra Gray

    Probably WC in week 4...No Arsenal given injuries/schedule/post Euro rest....likely switch out Mahrez for Ozil week 2...a little nervous about Leicester defense without Kante holding...back and forth Alli vs Eriksen?

        Goals Assists bps + Bonus what more do we need???
        Fletcher 1 goal 3 ass 504 BPS 6 bonus
        Drinkwater 3 goals 8 Assist 669 bps 11 bonus
        Compare to Hazard 5 goals 4 assist 481 bps 11 bonus
        I don't see a problem with these in any team its what is around them that counts too.

        Stones seems all but out the door.

        The thing is that they only have Mori and Jagielka as senior centre backs in the squad if Stones goes, and Jagielka is injured, so a signing is almost certain. The question is whether Koeman will be buying backup, or a first choice centre back... tricky one.

        Sorry, but it's been shown consistently over the last 10+ years that if you don't have the big name players who bring in the hauls (Lampard, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Suarez), you are just making it unnecessarily hard for yourself

        Especially since it's pretty easy to make a solid team with Aguero in it

      I don't think its ridiculous to go without aguero, he wasn't in the top 3 forwards last year, man city haven't strengthened in attack. don't get me wrong he'll be up there but use the extra money wisely and of course you can accumulate the same points.

      my issue with the team is the defence, think its too flakey and I don't like rotations.

      I'd like to see Conte's preferred formation before committing.

      Feel Fab could be playing too deep to be seriously effective, a classic assist of the assist (bar set pieces of course), Hazard's major hauls of the past came when he was playing number 10 (could be wrong here though?) and if he's forced to play on the wing, I'm not sure we'll see those 10-15 goals. Can see Willian being rotated. And I hate Costa.

    Saints apparently using their fullbacks to provide width in the managers system, at least according to the pre-season tab.

    Anyone tempted by Cedric 5m + Kone 4.5m rotation? Beautiful fixtures for first 8 weeks.

    Cedric obviously very attacking last season, i just worry about his game time but given his Euro 2016 exploits surely hes favorite to cement the position. Add in i would obviously only be playing him at home where i think he would be less prone to a benching then it kind of makes sense right?

    Assuming hes fit GW1 of course.

    Man City boss Pep Guardiola has again confirmed the club are interested in signing both Schalke winger Leroy Sane and Everton defender John Stones.

    Speaking after City beat Borussia Dortmund 6-5 on penalties today, Guardiola said: “Sane’s a Schalke player, it could happen, if he comes I'm happy, but if he stays I'm happy for Schalke fans.”

    As for City’s ongoing pursuit of Stones, Guardiola added: “Everyone knows we are going to try, but I don't know what's going to happen.”

    Foster / Heaton
    Baines, Williams and shaw (pieters and nsue)
    Hazard, firmino, eriksen, ayew (holjbjerg)
    Aguero, benteke (if he joins palace) & negredo

    What do u think?

    Or posisbly the same team but do 3-5-2 and down grade negredo and replace Hojejberg with gradel?
