Dugout Discussion – Hull vs Leicester

Spare a thought for Mike Phelan.

Already the Hull City caretaker manager seems to be unfurling the white flag, even before Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez get their first run at his patched-up defence.

The first Dugout Discussion of the Premier League season could witness one of the most one-sided opening fixtures in memory.

Champions Leicester turn up at the KCOM Stadium off the back of the FA Community Shield defeat to Manchester United but surely still brimming with confidence and optimism following the triumphant campaign.

Certainly they bring plenty of talent and pace – heightened by the presence of Ahmed Musa and Demarai Gray on their teamsheet. That might just prove too much, even for a spirited Hull City showing.

Stranger things have happened, though. Just ask Claudio Ranieri.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        They definitely need a Mendy/Kante type in that midfield as that's where they lost it today. No one to win the ball and stop Hull from playing straight through the middle of the park.

        That Clucas kid was impressive for Hull and just ran straight through Leicester's central mids time and again.

        With Huth and possibly Mendy to come into the team I still think it's too early to write off Leicester's attackers. Mahrez gets 8pts in a terrible performance is promising to me as it shows there's better to come imo.

          I'm sticking to my guns and keeping Mahrez and Fuchs for the next two, its not a terrible result FPL wise given Ranieri should switch it up (particularly in midfield) next week.

      I captained Vardy as well not too disappointed he could of had a hat-trick on another day even without the pen that was stolen!

      He was getting in scoring positions and Musa seemed to act as support striker.
