We were dressed for success, but success it never comes.

Suited and booted, we crown the new season riding a wave of giddy optimism. The positivity flows on the eve of a new campaign which, on paper, looks destined to be one of the best in memory.

Granville makes a belated return to ScoutCast action to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we start to sift the seemingly endless array of options open to us on the new season player list.

It’s bewildering stuff but, guided by you, the community, we attempt to navigate all your pre-season questions before laying our own cards on the table.

It’s amazing to be back amongst it again. Let’s just hope the smiles stay as wide for the next episode.

      How sure is everyoen that Oscar will start?

      Not to mention how incredibly inconsistent he is. Remember that great performance against Sunderland after Jose was sacked? Since then he only scored 3 goals in the second half of the all season, all in the first half against MK Dons (I think) in the FA Cup.

      Too inconsistent for me, Ayew is better.

        Is he played consistently enough to perform consistently? I think conte values him more, I think his talent should mean he has a break out season at some point, I think this one, new manager, formation, no Europe is it. Maybe I'm too hopeful. On pens too. Where will Ayew play? What will his place be in this west ham side? Maybe it doesn't matter. Oscar might prove to be the worst pick of my team.

          As a Chelsea fan, he is. Managers lose patience on him after over a month of drivel.

          Yeah a lot of talent but no consistency for 4 years, we were ready to depart on one of the biggest "what if" players we have had here this window.

          Conte does rate him and has kept him and Matic, and with rumours of Fabregas being offered to Juve occuring maybe Oscar is pencilled for a go in the side. Keep him I'll say if you want for he is a real goal scorer, but be prepared to ditch. His bad days are 2/10s while his good days make you realize why Jose kept him over Mata.

          Ayew should be on the wings, selfish player in a team that gets goals. Has a connection with Payet as well. Tadic is another option.

      Lots were hoping Benteke would move to Palace which would make Townsend more of an appeal as more chance of assists. Benteke move yet to happen so no longer much noise surrounding Townsend

    Looking at my (almost) final draft I think lads since I'm going soon, it's the defence and the lack of united attackers that worries me(I am really not sure who from United is worth it or will score given they don't look likely to score 3-4 and Jose is usually content with 2 goals, so just went with Vardy over Negredo and downgraded that premium slot to Townsend). G2g?

      Like you said I wouldn't be too worried about a lack of United attackers. Jose isn't the type to go for more than one or two goals

        I personally am not a fan of Alli at his current price. Was obviously a great option last year but now think his price outweighs potential points haul.

        Just my thoughts though.

          Defence is fine. Mirrors mine to be honest apart from Peters for Evans. Too much doubt on who will start in utds midfield currently.

          Agreed on that but I personally find him a better option that Eriksen. I think he'll get better this season, which is why I am getting him.

    For instance I'm happy with my team in general but would quite like Vardy GW1 so tempted to have him in for Kane and then transfer for GW2.

    Guys for all those who thought the spoon-fed advice of the Facebook FPL video was not going to reach mass market, but mainly those managers who take the time to to their research.. I've just been told it's now being played live on Star Sports Select HD in India.

    So every Indian football fan ids being spoon fed the best selections for their GW1 team. How many other countries are showing it?

        You're right Evs, but I'm getting the impression these are regular shows now. so each week, we'll have info such as

        "Payet's got a great 6 fixtures coming up, now's the time to get him"

        "Feghouli's underlying numbers look like he's a snip at 5.5. Get him in"

        "This is when the DGW is coming, so start planning your transfers accordingly"

        This is stuff plenty of people wouldn't think about on their own, or won't identify cos they don't pay attention to every single player's performance. But it'll be spoon fed to them.
