We were dressed for success, but success it never comes.

Suited and booted, we crown the new season riding a wave of giddy optimism. The positivity flows on the eve of a new campaign which, on paper, looks destined to be one of the best in memory.

Granville makes a belated return to ScoutCast action to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we start to sift the seemingly endless array of options open to us on the new season player list.

It’s bewildering stuff but, guided by you, the community, we attempt to navigate all your pre-season questions before laying our own cards on the table.

It’s amazing to be back amongst it again. Let’s just hope the smiles stay as wide for the next episode.

    I am going back n forth on this.. I will have 0.5 or 1.0m in bank either way to make changes after GW 1 if needed..

    Currently on 1 but think Tadic/ Kane are just as likely to a lot of damage including set pieces/ penalties.

      Same boat. I'm hoping Kane getting 90 mins and pens outweighs Ibra at the minute but it's Ibra. :/

      Set pieces are big plus for Tadic and I find it hard to overlook a no 10. Especially in 41212

    Rate My Team. Any thoughts? I am mostly satisfied with it.

    Butland (£5.0) Foster (£4.5) - Good rotation and reliable.
    Walker (£5.5) Bailly (£5.5) Dann (£5.5) Williams (£5.0) Masuaku (£5.0)
    Feghouli (£5.5) Lamela (£7.0) Deulofeu (£6.5) Bolasie (£6.0) Hazard (£10.0)
    Wickham (£6.0) Aguero (£13.0) Lukaku (£9.0)

    Gameweek 1 info:
    For gw1 on the bench I have Butland (due to injury) as well as Lukaku, Masuaku and Williams.
    I also have Aguero as captain.

    In addition, I currently have £1.0m in the bank.

    In terms of planned changes, I intend for Bailly to be temporary and intend to switch to Catchcart (£4.5) which gives me another £1m in the bank (£2m total). Depending on if he plays or not, I might also switch out Masuaku.
    I may also downgrade Hazard to Oscar (£7.5) depending on how they play.
    Once Payet (£9.5) is fully fit I am thinking of upgrading Feghouli to him.

      starting a season with planned transfers is always a bad idea, especially with so many planned. one injury here, one suspension there and you will find yourself hitting the WC or swallow a ton of -4s.
      general thoughts is that you have a defence heavy team, weak midfield.

      if youre mostly satisfied then just go ahead with it thought

        🙂 At least someone can give decent advice/constructive criticism.

        Only one is definitely planned (Bailly out), the rest I am just considering for the time being. Whilst I do often have quite a few -4's (not too many) most of the time they seem to work. I appreciate the comment though. 🙂

      That is a different squad. I feel that you have too much money on the bench. Also , Lukaku is a doubt for GW 1

      I don't like Townsend as a pick , so if you are having dounts about it , I would advise you to twist to Gerry D/Redmond etc.

    After a top 50k finish in my first season last year, my aims for this season are this;

    - top 20k
    - be guided by ffs but not let others make my decisions for me.
    - win cash mini league

    Last year I very much lived by the template and was too afraid to deviate from the general consensus on this site. This likely took some of the enjoyment out of the game.
