Michail Antonio shifts forward and provides the decisive finish as West Ham celebrate their London Stadium bow with a hard-fought victory. Earlier in the day, Alvaro Negredo’s qualtiy and Cristhian Stuani’s finishing combined to earn Middlesbrough three points on Wearside. Here’s the Stock Check after Sunday’s matches…

On the Rise

Alvaro Negredo
A goal in Gameweek 1, followed by two classy assists today. Negredo appears to be reveling in his lone striker role for Middlesbrough and his intelligence and awareness looks very effective in combination with the likes of Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing as creators. Negredo sits third in the FPL rankings – only Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have started stronger. Further transfer traffic is heading his way.

Cristhian Stuani
It’s a long shot but we have to mention the Uruguayan following his two goals. Brought in to replace Albert Adomah as part of Aitor Karanka expected rotation on the flanks, he reacted by seizing his opportunity in style. It remains to be seen if Stuani can retain a starting role – even as a 4.9 forward, his appeal would seem limited.

Patrick van Aanholt
More goals and more attempts than any other defender last season, the flying Dutchman has already opened his account for 2016/17. While David Moyes’ defence ha been unsettled by injury and departures, Van Aanholt still provides a tempting proposition given his attacking prowess and Sunderland’s fixtures. The Black Cats welcome Everton, Palace and West Brom to Wearside over the next five Gameweeks.

Michail Antonio
Has Eden Hazard done Fantasy managers a huge favour? After enduring a torrid evening at the hands of the Belgian at Stamford Bridge last Monday, Antonio was shifted onto the flank for today’s home clash with Bournemouth. Considering the injury situation in attack, Slaven Bilic will surely now look to keep Antonio in an attacking role after the former Nottingham Forest man headed home the match-winner. If he can keep his place and that position beyond the Gameweek 3 trip to City, Antonio would certainly be back on our radar as a true alternative to Dimitri Payet.

James Collins
A goal against Chelsea, followed up by a solid rearguard display against the Cherries, looks to have kept the Welshman ahead of Angelo Ogbonna in the West Ham defence. At 4.5, he’s got some very decent upcoming fixtures after next week’s trip to City has passed. We’re currently favouring Winston Reid for his security of starts but Collins may just usurp him heading into that run of matches.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Slaven Bilic has played down the severity of the Frenchman’s injury but, with a trip to City up next, Payet’s 25% owners aren’t hanging about. Over 36,000 have parted company already this week, more than any midfielder – with the international break to follow Gameweek 3, a failure to feature at the Etihad could see the exodus snowball.

Andy Carroll
With Andre Ayew ruled out for months, the Hammers target man seemed nailed on up front for the foreseeable future. Yet again, though, Carroll faces a spell on the sidelines after succumbing to a knee injury – given his treatment room history, we should have known that price of 6.5 was too good to be true.

Callum Wilson
The Cherries striker looked a shadow of the player that scored a hat-trick away to the Hammers just 12 months ago. Hauled off for the second match in succession, Wilson has managed just two attempts on goal in the first couple of Gameweeks. Eddie Howe’s side will struggle if they fail to get him firing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who's the best 4.5 mid to replace Kone?

Rest of defence and keepers are:

    Foster | Jaku

    Shaw | Stones | Friend | Amat

Anyone think Ozil will start next weekend?

I could do Eriksen & Carroll to Ozil & 5.5 (maybe Diomade or Valencia)

Or is it better to keep the faith with Eriksen a little longer?

too much money in your midfield.
Martial > whoever gets you enough £ to do Gray>Ibra. I'd keep Negredo, I liked what I saw.

I'd need to get a 4.9 midfielder to go from Gray to Ibra. Not many good options are available in that bracket. In fact the only one I like(Capoue) is already in my team.

Your midfield is great. If you're going Ibra-less then use an ft or 2 on your defence. Fuchs to Walker or double up on United. You could fix your non-playing 4.0. If you want Ibra then Martial, Firmino and one of your strikers out for a rejig (needs a -4).

      1. WE GO FOR IT

Walker is the one I want but the fact that they face Liverpool makes me think. Mane will also be back next week, I suppose. Could double up on United but Hull have looked really good. Don't want a 5th defender as I want to save the cash for Ibra. I really want him but can't get him without taking a hit.

You might need a wildcard to save that team. Adrian is an alright choice but I personally prefer 4.5 keepers. For starters get rid of Cook and Ward, bring in McAuley/Evans. Drop Silva, he's playing too deep atm to be an effective fantasy asset. Bring in someone like Tadic/Lamela/Barkley instead. Possibly Payet for Ozil, since Arsenal have quite a good run of fixtures. Same goes for surman, get Capoue or another 4.5 instead. Who's your third striker besides Long and Aguero.

Thinking out: Cook, Silva, Payet, Long

        In: McAuley, Tadic ,Ozil/Hazard?, Ibra

Have to keep Aguero and I think Silva has to go based on current form, he just isn't getting the points. I feel like KDB will start to pick up the points so might wait until after international break until deciding on him.

U dont need another 3 players from city... kun is enough!... defence too weak.. shaw, or walker would be an upgrade..hazard should be in that midfield, tadic too is a nice shoutout even doe he disnt score yet but its coming... get another heavy hitter beside aguero, kaku, ibra or even negredo..i think u might need to wildcard :/..

Same boat as me. I had to do Firmino to someone cheaper to fund it. I was torn about using a -4 to downgrade a defender but decided not to. Went for Mirallas instead of Barkley. I suspect that because of his last two performances, he's going to keep his place in the team. He's on corners and takes most free kicks too, and of course, offers goal threat from open play. He should have a decent season if he can stay in the team. Big if though.

Doubt it. Spurs are a better defensive unit and Wanyama alongside Dier should improve that further.

I have no qualms about keeping Firmino, and would probably do so if it wasn't for the price fall incoming. That has tipped mine and many decisions

Used my two transfers already so taking the drop (will be the first one). Not ditching him for a hit 🙂
Spurs are a better defensive unit but their game plan at home is not to park two lines of 4 in front of the box....should be more space in the game which suits pool

He's a player who can easily get a haul. Will we kick ourselves for selling him in the next couple of gameweeks? Quite possibly. Liverpool midfield WILL bring in point this season. After the first game, loads of people were suggesting getting two. Now most of us have got none.

The best way into a liverpool attack tha is likely to score lots of goals this season. Better finishing than coutinho and likely to play false 9 when sturridge inevitably gets injured.

I think they will. First two games and one point + pressure from supporters. Today I heard that Valencia wants for Mustafi 50 million pounds (?!).
I like Arsenal and I'm not a fan of spending big money every time, but it's a Premier League and from time to time you have to do it.

Thinking City offer the most opportunity for goals each match of the big clubs.

Chelsea, Man U, feel they keep winning but not as attacking.

Disagree. If you saw the game, City were average until Stoke went for it last 10 minutes.

Even if City do score more goals, they will be spread over all the midfielders so picking any may garner less points than Hazard and Martial

      1. HellasLEAF
        • 17 Years
        10 years, 6 days ago

City just keep scoring though. And Pep's teams usually find the net a lot.

I do agree about spreading the ball, which is why I haven't brought in a City mid. But, why spend 8.5 on Firmino for example or Pogba/Mikh/Martial or even Hazard, when Sterling playing the 90 and should deliver something each match. Or Nolito, or Silva or KDB (if you have the funds).

Guess what I'm saying is City looking to me a safe bet for points each week regardless who is picked.

I think take the "Pep argument" out of your head. His teams were Barca and Bayern. Don't think this is anywhere close to the level of dominance they experienced.

Firmino is a better pick imo because Liverpool will score the most goals by a distance. Between City, United, Arsenal and Chelsea will be close.

No City mids appeal to me because of the huge threat of rotation. None of them are nailed except KDB and Silva imo - and even they are under threat occasionally due to CL etc. Sterling isn't nailed as much as anyone tells you he is

Liverpool will score the most goals by a distance.

            That's a confident statement.

City have rotation issues hard to disagree. Sterling has played 90 and 90 though. Would prefer KDB but Sterling at 8.0 is appealing for what is looking like steady points.

These mids are assisting the premier league's most prolific scorer I might remind you. Rotation is pretty much the only downside I see here..

Did they keep scoring against sunderland ? no they barely scraped the win. Making conclusion of a very one sided game is meaningless. Apart from aguero, city attackers are way too expensive without offering consistent returns that you might get from other midfielders. With ibra and kun in every team you cant really afford to splash 10.5 mil on a midfielder.

Agree. Though generally last season, he was pretty good at finishing. Only been a couple games, think he'll have another impressive season with say 10-15 goals and a few assists.

Not sure he'll find a way into my team though - Mahrez and Ozil look stronger at the same price (and so do a few cheaper options)
