David Luiz is set to turn out for Chelsea this evening. Yohan Cabaye remains doubtful for Palace’s encounter with Stoke, ‘Boro’s Christhian Stuani will be assessed for the trip to Everton, whilst Eddie How is keen to court caution with Jack Wilshere’s minutes.

Here’s the lowdown on the press conferences so far..

Dejan Lovren has recovered from the eye injury that forced him to miss last week’s clash with Leicester. Emre Can misses Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea tonight, though returned to training earlier in the week.

John Terry has been ruled out for the next 10 days due to an ankle problem. David Luiz is set for a second Chelsea debut tonight as Liverpool roll up to the Bridge.

Eddie Howe has revealed “there is no rush” to bring Jack Wilshere into Bournemouth’s starting XI as he allows the midfielder time to build up his fitness with minutes off the bench.

Swansea winger Nathan Dyer is set to undergo ankle surgery and will be sidelined for two months. Francesco Guidolin hopes to have club-record signing Borja Baston available for the trip to St Mary’s.

Christhian Stuani and Jordan Rhodes are both doubtful for Middlesbrough’s trip to Everton, Aitor Karanka confirmed yesterday. Grant Leadbitter and Fabio remain sidelined.

Mark Hughes is optimistic that Mame Biram Diouf and Glen Johnson will be available for Stoke’s trip to Palace after both returned to training. Xherdan Shaqiri is still sidelined with a calf injury.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed Everton have no new injury concerns for the home match against ‘Boro. New loan signing Enner Valencia is included in the squad and could be handed a debut.

Alan Pardew has revealed that Pape Souare will be out for up to six months after his involvement in a serious car accident last weekend. Connor Wickham and Bakary Sako are expected to be available for the visit of Stoke, though Yohan Cabaye remains “touch and go”.

Ashley Barnes remains Burnley’s only absentee for the trip to Leicester due to an ongoing hamstring complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

If need to take a hit?

    A. Haz/Ozil->KDB and play Negredo
    B. Negredo-> Nacho (bench Capoue)
    OR,
    C. don't take a hit for just 1 week,

    Should I WC next week?

    Foster - Jaku
    Valencia - Stones - Pieters - Friend - Amat
    Hazard - Ozil - Barkley - Townsend - Capoue
    Ibra - Costa - Gray

        It would probably be:

        Costa > Aguero
        Barkley > Snodgrass

Really no required to use FT in that case, rather take the hit. Team will be just fine.

Hmmm - depends how much faith you have in Townsend and Ozil - if it isn't a lot, I'd probably WC

    Heaton, Jaku
    Shaw, Stones, Morgan, McAuley, Friend
    Haz, Alexis, Lamela, Redmond, Capoue
    Ibra, Lukaku, Gray

I'm not planning to WC after this.

    A) Stick, play 3-5-2 with Capoue (Gray benched), and then have two FT to get Kun.
    B) Lamela>Sterling
    C) Gray>Tekkers

I'd say A. It's a strong mid with reasonable fixtures, and I am worried Sterling may not get many minutes, though Bou could offer returns. Upgrading Gray might make the maths more tricky for Kun as well as necessitating a hit to get him next week?

    Hi Guys,

Bit of odd background- in my mini league we have a 'rule' that you can't have a player in your starting 11 who is against the team you support that GW. So, no Costa for me. Tbf I was planning on a 2ft GW next week to upgrade him to Aguero and downgrade a mid anyway...

    Forster (Foster)

    Stones - Williams - Walker - Amat/Evans

Ozil - Payet - Sterling - Coutinho (Maloney)

    Bony - Lukaku (Costa)

    1. Play the above 442, in which case which 4th Def.
    2. Transfer Costa out to play a 343, though it would mean a hit if I want to get Kun back.
    3. Flout the rules. Costa scoring would mitigate the pain of Liverpool conceding 🙂

    Any help much appreciated.

I know its a boring argument, but Ibra is in 2/3 of teams. If he gets a hattie which isn't impossible (Say a pen, easy header and a tap-in) and you don't have him you're done

    1. SW6
      • 14 Years
      10 years, 6 days ago

Perhaps but Aguero is more likely to get hatties than Ibra. Sure, you can have both but I don't like what that does to my team so in an Ibra vs Aguero war over the season, I'll be on Aguero's side

Planning seems to never really work, but to get Liv mid and Aguero, how does this look?

    GW6: Hazard > Firmino
    GW7: Save
GW8: Sterling and Lukaku > Bolasie (Or any 6.1) and Aguero

Means 2 weeks without Aguero (swa, tot) but I think Lukuku could match him anyway (bou, CPL) or at least stay within it not being worth talking hits to do earlier..

    Cheers

We'll hopefully know more after presser. It would be silly of Pep to not play him, given that he won't be getting many minutes with Aguero available. AND he's in good scoring form, would make no sense to bench him

What strikes me about Iheanacho is his ability to be in the right position at the right time. This is a quality which usually takes time to develop and that you don't see among many players at his age.

Thought...we don't have many top strikers anymore which can be classified as "poachers".

If we look at the top forwards now in Suarez, Lewandoski, Benzema, Ibra, Aguero, Costa, Aubemayang etc, none of those fit that description.

Back in the day we had lots of world class poachers, but I guess these days a lot more is required from forward players.

I'm sure, but I think it would be quite demanding setting up the rest of the team so they could be allowed to just do their thing.
But there are quite a few out there even nowadays but maybe not in the absolute top teams where we used to see them.

Like I said, I think top teams demand much more than just goals from their forwards these days!

You don't consider Ibra a poacher?

I would. Doesn't do much during games but always in the right place at the right time in the box. That's what makes him so dangerous.

      What's your definition of a poacher? 🙂

People are underestimating Snodgrass. History has shown he can thrive in difficult fixtures too

Has returns against arsenal mancity liverpool and spurs in his previous two seasons in pl

Well the big 6 have conceded 26 goals in total so far. Someone has to score against them, and Snodgrass has a good as chance as any.

Even prior to that, he has form against the top teams. 🙂

I don't think anyone is underestimating him.

I see him mentioned a lot on here so I'd say quite the opposite.
