After last week’s selections Marko Arnautovic and Troy Deeney delivered goals, we’re backing two in-form attacking options from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, along with an Arsenal starlet, as handy differentials in Gameweek 6.

Marcus Rashford

While it’s been a difficult few weeks for Man United, the form of Marcus Rashford has certainly been a major plus.

The 6.8-priced forward scored their only goal in Sunday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat at Watford, while he emerged from the bench during Wednesday night’s EFL Cup clash at Northampton to register a goal and assist in what turned out to be a comfortable 3-1 victory.

His performances mean he’s expected to be named in the starting XI for today’s home clash against champions Leicester City, most likely in a wide left position, with the freedom to get into the box at every opportunity.

Rashford, whose current ownership in FPL is just 4.5%, looks a great value option to cover the United attack, with the England international averaging a goal attempt every 24.4 minutes so far this season, better than the likes of Chelsea’s Diego Costa (28.8).

The match-up against the Foxes isn’t overly favourable, though, with Claudio Ranieri’s men allowing the fourth fewest number of shots (28) from inside the box so far this season.

Nonetheless, Leicester have conceded six goals in their two away matches this season and appear to be missing the ball-winning ability and work-rate of the departed N’Golo Kante, particularly on their travels.

With Rashford currently brimming with confidence, he looks worthy of serious consideration, then, although it’s worth bearing mind United’s forthcoming fixtures (STO, liv, che) are toughening up.

Heung-Min Son

With so many midfield options to choose from, Heung-Min Son wasn’t really expected to be a key contributor for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

But the South Korean stole the show on his first appearance of the season. Having registered a 19-point haul in the Gameweek 4 victory at Stoke, he also impressed in last weekend’s 1-0 win against Sunderland, again operating on the left of the attacking midfield trio, and crucially played all 90 minutes for the second successive match.

Son was an unused substitute against Gillingham in the EFL Cup in midweek, so is expected to retain his spot in the starting XI for the trip to Middlesbrough, one of three favourable away match-ups (mid, wba, bou) for Spurs over the next four Gameweeks.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player is available at just 7.4 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and is currently sitting in just 1% of squads.

Over the last two Gameweeks, he impressively ranks second among midfielders for total goal attempts (10), shots inside the box (eight) and penalty box touches (19). Those numbers are superior to his team-mate Dele Alli, who has also started both matches and is more expensive at 8.3 in FPL.

He’ll face off today against a ‘Boro side that has conceded five goals in their last two matches, although it’s worth noting Aitor Karanka’s side have allowed the fewest big chances (four) among all 20 clubs so far this season.

Alex Iwobi

While it’s Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla that usually dominate our thoughts when assessing Arsenal’s midfield options, there is certainly value to be found elsewhere – particularly in the case of Alex Iwobi.

The young Nigerian attacker is available at just 5.8 in FPL and has a meagre ownership of just 0.7%.

Iwobi gained Arsene Wenger’s trust towards the end of last season, starting eight of their final nine league matches, and registered two goals and two assists.

He began this campaign with an assist in the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool and following a thigh injury, regained his place in the starting XI against Hull City last weekend, delivering an 11-point haul after providing two assists and a couple of bonus points.

The 20-year-old has impressively averaged a goal attempt every 26.5 minutes this season, better than any other Arsenal midfielder, while he has registered a key pass every 31.8 minutes, which is superior to all Arsenal midfielders bar Mesut Ozil (31.4).

Iwobi looks set to keep his place in the starting XI for this afternoon’s home encounter against Chelsea. He’s up against a Blues defence without captain John Terry that has shipped four goals over the last two Gameweeks, indicating that Iwobi could be a worthy gamble.

The midfielder would represent outstanding value if he can cement a starting role, with the Gunners facing very favourable fixtures (bur, SWA, MID, sun) following today’s London derby.

    Foster
    Valencia Williams Holebas
    Ozil Sterling Antonio Capoue
    Aguero(c) Ibrahimovic Lukaku

    Pickford Barry Collins Amat

I have 0.1 ITB & no FT left. Confused about these plans:
    1. Ozil + Collins to Mane & Stones/Lovern (for a -8 hit)
    2. Ozil + Collins to Firmino & Walker/Stones/Lovern (for a -8 hit)
    3. Ozil to Mane/Firmino (for a -4 hit)
    4. Leave the team as it is (no hit)

May get Lukaku later when sure fit.

          Sanchez Firmino Mane Antontio (Capoue)

          Aguero Lukaku (Diomande)

Can't help but feel people dropping Zlatan are going to pay for it. He is the top scoring Striker and the game, if anything his stats have got better as weeks have gone on, and yet he has dropped twice in a few days.

He has 4 goals and an assist in 5 games despite his team not performing for 3 of them. He looks fixture proof and form proof.

Lukaku is 2pts behind him despite playing way less minutes. Yes Zlatan is class but unless he starts scoring double-digit hauls more regularly, people will continue to find cheaper FWDs to match his 1G/game hauls.

        • 10 Years
        9 years, 9 months ago

If he bags a hat trick against Stoke next week, plenty will be tearing up their wildcards to get him back in.

United's form (not Zlatan's), seems to have made up a few people's minds, along with price obviously. It's entirely possible to get Sanchez too, but probably not if you stick with 343 and have a strong 3rd striker (eg. Lukaku)

Can't speak for others but personally other than GW7 where Ibra is a clear captain choice, United's form means I will just play him and for that amount of money, I'd rather shop in the mid-priced/cheap FWDs bin especially as he won't be a regular captain pick.

His ownership IS cause for concern though. But I think going Ibra-less isn't that great a risk.

but oh my god the difference Ibra > Rashford makes to a team.

With Ibra I can't have Sanchez.

But honestly, I'm still undecided. I have two tabs open for the WC, one Ibra team one non-Ibra team. And it's not getting any easier

      1. The Tinkerman
        • 10 Years

That's all good except Rashford is far from garunteed starts in the Premier League. I like the idea, if he starts playing 90 every week in a central role, I'll downgrade in a flash. He has plenty of competition.

    4. MTPockets

Maybe. Just a relative price & drops thing.

Ownership isn't important at this stage. A huge proportion of those owners won't be playing by the end, and we will overtake them anyway.

Most owners will captain him against Stoke, which is huge considering others will have Aguero vs Spurs (Not an easy fixture, really)

Agreed but its just one game week, where I'll have Sanchez against Burnley, Lukaku against Palace, Antonio against Middlesbrough and Firmino against Swansea. I don't lack a captaincy option there.

I will captian him for some home games, such as Stoke next week. But I'll admit this is my main reservation about having him.

You said it yourself, his team is not performing and we all thin Kun is gonna score better.

Us removing Ibra doesnt mean he is useless, FPL is not about getting one player and him scoring, its about getting the entire squad clicking, striking the balance. We all feel he is not essential at that value with Kun in the fix.
Stop cursing us, and be happy with your Ibra points.

I'm not cursing anybody, just trying to start a conversation. Hazard drops three times, I can see that, he has fallen of a cliff statistically, and points-wise. Although he could easily burn people, myself included. That drop-off hasn't happened with Ibra, he has so far been the most consistent in the game along with Costa. Yet he is falling fast enough to drop again tonight, for the third time a few days. I highly doubt it would happen if it weren't for Aguero being out and back in again, but interesting nonetheless.

If Ibra scores nothing for the next two games I will be off him like any sane person would, but he has done nothing to suggest I should drop him, yet.

Interesting point. It's funny how the season started where all of us discussed how to afford Zlatan and Aguero after their great start.

When Aguero is back it seems like many of us had not enough back-up plans to get Aguero back. I'm glad I had.

Guessing you have perused this hot topic? http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2016/09/23/scout-picks-gameweek-6-5/?hc_page=20#hc_comment_14162298

I'd roll the die with Deeney. I expect (want) Rashford to do well but played outwide doesn't really help his prospects.

    Which option lads?

    A) Baines(bou) + Stones (swa) + Shaw (LEI)* (Friend and Amat on bench)
    B) Baines(bou) + Stones (swa) + Capoue (bur) (AOA chip)

Is walker Really a good pick now?

3 away matches in next 4 games with the City at home. Possible CL rotation and IT break injury risk. Your thoughts?

On this WC team atm. How is she looking?

    Pickford-Jaku

    Williams-Pieters-Holebas-Evans-Amat

    Sanchez-Firmino-Antonio-Capoue-Carrick

    Ibra-Kun-Lukaku

Can also downgrade Sanchez or Lukaku to get a stronger defence or a better 4th mid. Opinions lads?

Nice one. You aren't afraid of the weak defence or the almighty Capoue as 4th mid?

      Very nice.

Not too sure about Evans (horrendous fixtures) and Pieters (Stoke are dodgy at the back atm)

Now that I think about it, you already have Holebas, so maybe only Kone's left

Ddefence is weak, but that's the price of solid fwds.
Holebas is the problem today really - risks having to play Amat/Pieters.

Nick Pope has been one of my favourite FPL players so far this season.

At only 4.0, he always provides some points on the last day of a gameweek.

If you take out Hazard and Benteke and put in Kun how much does that leave you with?
