A typically disciplined Burnley performance nullifies Watford’s recent attacking verve and earns a precious three points at Turf Moor. Here’s the Stock Check after Monday brought the curtain down on Gameweek 6.

On the Rise

Tom Heaton
A second clean sheet of the season promoted Heaton back to the top of the FPL keeper rankings on 27 points.

Priced at 4.6, Heaton goes on confirming his value in well-drilled Burnley defence that, at Turf Moor at least, should go on generating shut-outs.

Michael Keane
Arriving in the Premier League with a reputation as a threat from set-pieces, tonight Keane delivered his first Premier League strike.

Five goals during Burnley’s promotion season flagged up his goal threat and saw him claim a 5.0 initial price in the FPL. While that has since fallen to 4.9, we’ll need to see more from Keane to warrant that outlay with Heaton an option in goal.

Steven Defour
If we ever go knocking for a Burnley midfield with 6.0 to spend then Defour will be our go-to option.

Clearly a class act, the Belgian has registered three assists a goal and six bonus points in his Burnley tenure so far. He is, however, still to complete 90 minutes.

In Decline

Jose Holebas
We were grateful to see him fit to claim his starting role at left wing-back but this was not an enjoyable evening for the Greek.

Pinned back in the first-half by a determined Clarets, Holebas was forced into a traditional left-back role with Walter Mazzarri’s tactical changes as the Hornets chased the game.

More significantly, he earned a fourth booking of the season and is now just a single yellow away from a one-match suspension. After suffering defeat in the EFL Cup, they also don’t have the option of allowing him to absorb any suspension outside of Premier League action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looks like defence needs the transfer more than attack. Baines injury? And I don't think Stones place is save and the reason for that is he is sh$te and overrated.
Finally I am going to ditch Valencia asap. Has not worked out on attacking side and fixtures turning bad. Sounds like a rant from me HY. Only wanted to give some advice 🙂

Just a thought on Liverpool mids.

Interesting comments from Klopp on MNF. Saying how Firmino has to work especially hard in Liverpool's pressing because of his central position and is especially good at winning the ball back compared to Coutinho and Mane because of his physicality.

This is of course very small evidence and a very small theory, but to me it matches how Firmino is perhaps tending to win the ball back more with Lallana, Mane, and Coutinho breaking into the box to score more points.

I own Coutinho (trying not to be biased against Firmino) and might get in Lallana. Granted, Firmino still had stats and chances against Hull, but just an interesting point from MNF.

The kneejerks have been absolutely killing me this season. Been patient of a few players with set plans, Ibra being the latest, and they are price dropping like stones.

Kneejerks or not, part of doing well in FPL is adaptation.

Sorry, my comment may be a little harsh, but I get particularly annoyed when people think transferring early or taking point hits as kneejerking.

            1. Postman Ty
              • 11 Years
              9 years, 9 months ago

Not harsh at all mate, I agree. In my cases though I feel I've been hardly done over by knee jerks. I took a hit to get Haz out so I understand the early transfers, but the first few weeks are always jerky as people drop players for blanking once, and Ibra's price tanked after an assist and now more after a blank. It's understandable a lot of people are selling Ibra now, but Stoke at home next..? Surely the 'better' option is to hold a week and be patient, if price drops weren't a factor.

    B) Hazard to Mane, Gray to Deeney, -4

Looks great to me. Is Schmeichel going to be fit for this weekend? You may have to use the FT for a playing goalkeeper if not, so don't burn it now.

Schmeichel was meant to be fit for last weekend so I'm hoping he's good to do.

I was looking at the next international break for WC but will only use it if I'm really struggling.

Obviously defense will need looking at and I'd like to down grade Ibra or Lukaku at some stage. I wouldn't mind holding a trade so I can do this.

          • 10 Years
          9 years, 9 months ago

Yeah the team needs Sanchez if he continues on his current form, but no point bringing him in for a hit when both Lukaku and Ibra have great fixtures.

If you're set on WC during international break it would make sense to have a one-week punt, but otherwise I'd save probably.

If I don't need to use wildcard during the break I won't.

I might save the trade and next week go Ibra-> Benteke/Rondon and Bolasie/Redmond -> Sanchez.

Judging by the highlights, Redmond looked great vs. WHU, but kept getting into great positions and assisting the assister (yes, I'm another annoyed Redmond owner...). I'd play Redmond.

Can't see any reason why an American would give his vote to trump.

I have no idea how you come to this conclusion. I can't stand Clinton and yes she represents a broken corrupt system but trump is downright dangerous and unpredictable. Anyone who thinks they know what he will try to do on any issue is kidding themselves. Clinton is at least predictable.
A vote for trump is a vote for the hand grenade. I see the appeal but the consequences are real and immediate, and it's not rich white Americans that would pay the price.

Really don't want to vote for either. Both train wrecks waiting to happen, but for very different reasons.

There is little to no reason for him in my view. Not getting my vote at least.

If you are playing Fuchs (SOU) and Lukaku(CRY), which one of the following do you bench?

    A) Bolasie (CRY)
    B) Antonio (MID)
    C) Capoue (BOU)
    D) Austin (lei)

10 votes is optimistic at this time! But Pickford for me as well.

    Have I lost it completely?
    Seriously considering
-4 this week for Antonio > Walcott
    And another -4 next week
For Capoue > Lalanna and Valencia > to 5.0
Note 352 so I want mids as strong as possible would give this
    Heaton Jaku
    Bellerin Coleman Lovern? Evans Amat
    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Lallana Sterling
    Kun Rashford Diomande.

If you're planning consecutive hits for a week in advance, yes you have lost it completely 😉

Sure, but 1 bad week for Antonio and you think Walcott will outscore him for the foreseeable future? (this is not a rhetorical question, by all means go for it if you believe so, but I have my doubts)

Thanks for replies. I never had any doubts about Walcott as an FPL asset. My problem is he does not get the minutes. (Not the case this year so far at least) I know this looks knee jerking but I was considering this before the weekend want to double up Arsenal pool and city attack.

My 'gameweek 1' league rank is 2271 and my overall rank is 2272.
Does that mean someone started in GW 2 and still broke into the top 2k? :O
