With European football forcing a reschedule, us Fantasy managers suffer a reduced Saturday programme made up of just a quartet of three o’clock kick-offs.

Our main focus is likely to be the London Stadium, where we will be tracking West Ham’s progress against Middlesbrough following four straight defeats. Michail Antonio looks poised to play up front today and carries the hopes of 18% of Fantasy Premier League managers, with almost 13% still keeping faith in Dimitri Payet.

Chelsea are another side with ailing form, although 26% still take Diego Costa into the Blues’ trip to Hull City, with another 20% holding Eden Hazard. Antonio Conte starts both Marcus Alonso and Victor Moses at the KCOM today, with Branislav Ivanovic dropping to the bench.

Elsewhere, Jermain Defoe’s 12% ownership will be hoping for a repeat performance from their striker after his brace in the 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace in Gameweek 6. The Black Cats take on West Brom at the Stadium of Light, with Gareth McAuley found in 26% of FPL squads.

Watford’s Vicarage Road meeting with Bournemouth completes Saturday programme, with Fantasy managers set to re-assess the form of Walter Mazzarri’s assets following Monday’s disappointing defeat at Burnley.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What a terrible week, 19 with 4 to go 😕
As is the deal with every Saturday, I feel open to taking rage hits but would obviously prefer not to 🙂
    Any early suggestions here?

    Foster
    Collins Evans Valencia
    Sanchez Antonio Snodgrass Capoue
    Aguero Ibrahimovic Lukaku

    Heaton... De Roon Baines Amat

Looks pretty good to me, similar to my own, I reckon Baines can go, I'm bringing in Davies (hull)
Strange I got 39 with only a couple of different players

Too early to suggest with the international break coming but Capoue as 4th mid should be your first priority. Probably get Ibra out to fund that

It's Zlatan. Not that he's a bad pick (and I hope he's your captain tomorrow) but you can't do a worthwhile 3-4-3 with both him and Aguero in it, the cost in other positions is too severe.

If you want Zlatan you really need to go to a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 structure with Diomande as 1st sub. 4-4-2 works best but with so few clean sheets it's a non-starter as things stand currently.

That leaves 3-5-2 which can work because there are so many decent midfield options either side of 7.0 (say 6.3 to 7.7).

So... either downgrade Zlatan and upgrade Capoue (3-4-3) or downgrade Lukaku to Diomande and upgrade De Roon, perhaps to Walcott. Then Capoue could become someone like Redmond, Chadli or Defour in GW11 when Watford's fixtures worsen and the fixtures for those 3 teams improve. Something like that.

        Appreciate the response Ruth.
You're right, my transfer(s) this week will be based on the formation I will choose to play and also how Ibra performs tomorrow.

Capoue is the worrying bit, he did absolutely nothing today, 0 shots.
Not sure I want to keep him as my 4th mid any longer if I'm honest.

        Food for thought, cheers.

Honestly I think he might be. Especially in this great run of games coming up. Its just whether U have the balls to give up a space in ur mid, counting on penalties

But isn't that the case with the whole of the Liverpool midfield? Best tactic I think is to just pick one and stick, so why not go with the penalty taker?

Well, if they get a penalty every week, even every odd week or so, that will be a refereeing scandal.

4 penalties in 7 games so far. It's unbelievable. Until you realise that Arsenal have had 4 in 6 and City 3 in 6.

In the first 6 gameweeks of this season 23 penalties were awarded compared to 10 at the same stage last season. If that rate were continued we'd be on target for 140-150 penalties over the whole season. That's 60-70% up on last season when there were 91 penalties. The all-time PL record is 106. It's a significant change of climate.

Whether it will continue is actually a big question. If it does then much more priority will need to be given to having as many penalty takers as possible in your team. It will also have implications concerning team structure and how we pick defenders.

    RMT

    Foster

    Vertonghen Williams Stones

    Sánchez Capoue Antonio Sterling Firmino

    Lukaku Aguero

Subs - Jaku Amat Diomande Kingsley

    2m itb

Might offload Antonio earlier than expected. Looking at Son, Walcott or even a defence upgrade, maybe bellerin or monreal.

Looking at this team, what areas should take priority??

Costa > Kaku in "big three", no?

Kaku is a lot cheaper, so in theory you should expect slightly fewer points than the other 3.

Would go Tekkers over Defoe. Palace are better than Sunderland and both are the teams one focal point up top.

It was a week ago and he was a bit dissapointed about one of his fullbacks, that didn't defend porperly... It lead to PVA being benched today. No idea what will happen next GW

I'm keeping, he has saved Moyes ass today. That was a big goal for them so hopefully Moyes will repay the faith. Maybe he benched him in order to get a reaction. If he did it seems to have paid off.

Yeah, I was pretty annoyed when he didn't start but delighted when I seen he had scored. I was looking at no clean sheets and 8 points or less from 3 defs and my goalie at one point and ended up with 21 from the 4 of them so cant complain. I wouldn't have chosen PVA if I thought he wasn't a certainty to play. I will watch with interest as I am thinking that maybe cheapest of the cheap is the way to go with defenders atm.

Will Conte carry on with that formation now?.....Willian and Hazard looked really good there in a two behind Costa....Willian more so than Hazard.

    Any thoughts?

    Cech Pickford
    Williams Lovren McAuley Pieters Amat
    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Antonio Fletcher
    Aguero Deeney Lukaku

The thing is that Son is no fuss at all.

7.5 is a great price for him. He has a good eye for goal. And if it goes fits up, more than enough options elsewhere. I'd say he the 3rd most inform mid, behind sterling and Sánchez

Son was consistantly in double figures for goals before coming to the premier league, after a dodgy first season he's starting to show that previous form and his stats put him amoung the top midfielders over the last couple of gws, Kane out only helps him. I'll be bringing him in for next game against Brom

Capoue and Antonio -> Fletcher and Wally

This seems a great move but I have the exact funds to do it and will probably need to pull the trigger tomorrow. Any thoughts?

    1. Krul Runnings
      • 10 Years

Looked at this myself also, why I didn't just sell Capoue for Fletcher on my wc knowing I will always bench Capoue anyway, I don't know!

With regard to those to transfers I decided against it, wasting a FT on bench fodder 5th mid is not a good idea, imo. Plus I feel Walcott is a transfer waiting to happen potentially.
