We can’t quite call it a comeback but it’s progress.

Jonty’s radical solution to help solve his nosediving season was to throw off the shackles of his traditional dullard ways and start taking transfer hits.

It’s working, a 74-point Gameweek is enough to get him back and track and edging towards unlikely respectability. Like a Phoenix, dusting himself down and now pondering a rise from the ashes.

Personally, I’m not sure what’s more puzzling, Jonty’s struggles this season or Andy’s determination to cling to Zlatan Ibrahimovic like some muscular, ponytailed comfort blanket. At least Granville was wise enough to get rid after the Swede failed him yet again.

In this latest ScoutCast, we tackle Jonty’s reversal of fortune and Andy and Granville’s Zlatan woes, before embarking on another round of questions from you, the community.

The Gundoganwagon, Valencia replacements and looming doubts over the Arsenal teamsheet dominate the chatter.

    Are any of the 4.3 mids regular starters, or is Fletcher at 4.4 a safer, albeit exceedingly boring choice?

      De Roon has been. Picked up a slight knock before last weekend's game and wasn't risked.

    Thoughts on this team...

    Jakupovic,Pickford
    Vertonghen, Walker, McAuley, Lovern, Amat
    Couthino,Sterling,Capoue, Sanchez, Tadic
    Aguero,Rashford,Benteke

    2ft, 0.7 itb...

    A) Rashford & Jakupovic ----> Musa & Zieler
    B) Rashford -----> Austin
    C) Jakupovic ------> Zieler
    D) Rashford & Benteke ------> Kane & Keane
    Any other suggestions?

    Grant Pickford
    Mustafi Vert Pieters (Holebas Amat)
    Sanchez Firmino Coutinho Allen (Capoue)
    Aguero Lukaku Deeney

    Lots of impending transfers. Butland will be back soon, Pickford wont bring points, Amat benched, Deeney disappointing, and a need to fit Haz in soon, would a hit be justifiable this week?

    A) Deeney > Austin -4
    B) G2G

        Actually with his price drop today, might actually treat myself to a hit as keeping him likely means having to take him out next week for a hit anyways to avoid price falls

    Wont be a cleansheet in this defence but which 3 would you play?

    A. Kosclieny (Spurs home)
    B. Vertonghen (Arsenal away)
    C. Holebas (Liverpool away)
    D. Evans (Leicester away)
    E. Amat (Utd home)

      0.0 ITB is a problem as can't upgrade any of Grant/Pickford/Amat/Wilson. Not many viable replacements for Cameron either (Friend maybe but he has crap fixtures). Others have great form and/or fixtures so I wouldn't advocate taking any of them out (maybe Lovren but he scored last week and Pool have to get a CS soon with those fixtures).

      Instead of just burning the transfer maybe Coq > De Roon. Coq is a waste of an Arsenal spot and you may want 3 in the future. Keep 2 FT for the international break. Team is in great shape. Who knows, there may be a big injury over the International break and you will be in a good position to redistribute funds into defence/GK.

      Triple rise for Gündogan, has to be one of the bandwagons of the season so far.

    Hi everyone, Thoughts on the team?

    Heaton (Jakupovic)

    Lovren Stones Holebas (Martina, Paredes)

    Not sure about all this 352 malarky. I was on 352 but switched back to 343 this week. I hate relying on a crap sub to fill in when a Walcott situation strikes. Much prefer a player like Allen or Gundogan as a sub/rotation option. Plenty of cheap strikers that can provide value around the 6-6.5m mark.

      I don't like 3-5-2 either, it would work with the correct player though. I'm on my wildcard should I get Bony and a weak defence or a strong defence and a cheaper striker?

      Maybe because they are not scoring as consistenly as those mids between 5-7.5 range?...Had a look at strikers 6.6m and below, Rondon is at the top with 39points...looking at mids 6.9m and below, there are 10 who have more points than Rondon...Defenders less than 6m, there are six outscoring Rondon.

      1. fedolefan

        Yes, but there's the points ceiling to consider. A Callum Wilson streak, like when he scored a hattrick last year and there's no comparison.

        This is exactly what I plan on doing. I think Barrow as an eighth attacker works well and is made feasible because of the Gundogan/Allen option as a seventh attacker.

          Aye, though there's still plenty of time to monitor him before that fixture turn. *If* his game time looks secure then I'd be happy enough with him (and more importantly those fixtures) as a bench option.

      If Gundogan keeps his place, he can be rotated pretty well with Austin. I think I would prefer to risk leaving points on the bench at times than to play 352 with a crap 3rd forward.

        Agreed. Especially now with CL rotation, players starting to get suspended, injuries, December rotation. We have all built a bit of TV now so the squad game needs to be utilised. Especially for those of us still with Amat.

      Yes I'm with you here, with Gündogan and Allen around you could easily afford an Austin/Wilson and have a flexible 352/343 without going to the extreme.

      Last week was a good example of where having at least one good sub will make all the difference, a lot had very good scores made so much better by strong sub points.

    GTG here? Think I'll hold off on AOA given the very slight (no matter how remote) chance of Theio being out.

    Holebas over Evans yeah?

        Cheers. IMO, TV really helps you when DGW's come around. The big clubs are usually involved and having 3-4 M extra helps to get more players from those teams.

          Well, possibly, but I recall a lot of people doubling-up on players from big sides last year during the DGWs, only to see them get rotated and play only one of the two games anyway.

      He's a fifth mid I plan to use a bit over the next few weeks to work around some tricky fixtures. If he works out then perfect, I have him in early. If he's meh then I at least have a solid bench for a while. If he's awful, I sell and bank profit. Win, win and win.

            I don't think he will initially but from what I've seen he isn't afraid to make changes if he thinks something is wrong. If Gundogan goes off the boil for 2 weeks then I wouldn't be shocked to see him out of the starting 11.

        Gündogan has got Aaron Ramsey/Yaya Toure written all over him, not just for the ability to get into the box at the right time but for the way people are refusing to jump on board the train because they don't believe it to be sustainable.

        In two or three weeks time that could prove costly for the budget if he does keep it up.

            Pretty much. He's my favourite FPL player.

        Defence is a shambles and I want to change the structure of the team a bit. Payet is gone for a while because his fixtures are horrendous but he'll be back at some point in the season.

          Then again looking at the fixtures I might wait one more week.

            tbh defence isn't that bad ... hazard coutinho and sanchez may affect your decision this week

        Thanks. I think most are too eager to get rid of it when there team isn't performing that well even if they have a very solid team.

      Confident on Sterling starting? I'm waiting until the pressers to bring him in.

        I'm not confident but it's nothing to be worried about. If he doesn't start he'll still come on vs a tired Middlesbrough defence.

      Nice looking team dont know if I would WC it. Probably closer to what I want than what I have right now. But well done on waiting this long and you got your own reasons as per replies above.

      Its about time he gets dropped. Not a PL striker, better off trying to prove himself up front in midweek matches.

      I'd be worried about him starting. He played the entire match yesterday while Tadic and Austin and Boufal did not.

        This Sunday I mean based on what Wenger said at presser?

            Bellerin has a test. I left him behind in midweek because I was cautious with him. I think he should be alright,’ said Wenger

            And
            Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott are doubts for Sunday’s north London derby but did reveal Hector Bellerin should return.
            Metro source first Google result I got.

              No direct quote in that Metro article referring to Walcott. Wenger is the worst for pre-match vagueness!

    Haha, reports that Yaya has asked his agent to apologize to Pep. Knowing Pep, he'll let everyone know of the apology and then still ignore Yaya from the squad. Having the cake and eating it too.
