There’s now little debate required – we need to get Eden Hazard in our squads.

Watching him bewitch the Everton defence, weaving patterns with Diego Costa and a revitalised Pedro was evidence enough. Dive into the numbers, and it’s confirmed.

Seven goals in his last eight matches for club and country. Underneath, Hazard’s vital statistics – particularly his goal threat – are outperforming even his Player of the Year season.

Throw in the fact that he’s the only top bracket midfielder that boasts penalties, plus Chelsea’s irresistible form and an array of Christmas fixtures that scream goals and points and the evidence is overwhelming.

I’m struggling to see any argument against Hazard.

The real debate surrounds how we slice our squads up to make way.

Just days ago I raised the possibility of shedding Alexis Sanchez – the leading FPL points scorer before today – and now, in my squad at least, it rears it’s head once again.

I can retain Sanchez if I lose Walcott but, in doing so, I’m putting faith in Ilkay Gundogan and, also, restricting myself to forever scrimping across my back five.

Walcott is an unreliable Fantasy asset, playing as part of an Arsenal squad rich in attacking options.

Inevitably, he will find himself rotated. By choosing him over Sanchez, I will forever be clenched as the teamsheet is announced, or as the clock hits 70 minutes.

But there is a 3.6 gap between Walcott and Sanchez. Meanwhile, the underlying stats show that, in terms of average goal threat, the former is even outperforming the Chilean.

I look ahead to the fixtures and wonder if I can continue to get by with a restricted budget. If Gundogan can deliver on his promise and if Jose Holebas and Gareth McAuley are enough.

Sacrificing Sanchez will dissolve such concerns. If he frustrates, I will have the funds to replace Walcott, perhaps with a second Liverpool midfielder, while still having the means to upgrade the defence to seize upon Chelsea’s obvious and unparalleled resilience.

Sanchez could very easily end the season as the top scoring FPL asset – although Hazard will likely have a say in that.

But retaining Sanchez restricts the flexibility to react to form and fixtures and, if I keep him now, he’s locked in – unlikely to leave my squad unless stricken by injury.

While he’ll doubtless gain me handsome returns in the meantime, will those points outweigh what can be won with Walcott and the extra 3.6?

It’s an agonising scenario – particularly with Arsenal yet to take the field.

Urged along by a volatile market, like a lot of folk this evening, I’m driven to make changes in the next few hours.

But I know that tomorrow’s evidence will likely provide answers – Walcott’s absence, an ineffectual 60-minute appearance or a steller display would make the decision far easier.

I’m likely to watch prices rise and fall tonight, waiting for more evidence before making what seems a crunch decision.

But one choice is already made – Hazard will be in my lineup for Gameweek 12.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So annoying, although when you look at pools fixtures and chelseas maybe a good thing, I am struggling to go through with firminio to haz

    Bottomed, large post

    Ok haz options?

My mids are Sanchez, firminio, coutinho, gundogan, capoue

    A) Sanchez to haz

    B) capoue to Pedro

    C) firminio to haz- love pools fixtures

    D) -8 in: de roon, haz, brunt
Out: capoue, gundogan, bellerin- means I keep all my big mids

Firminio to haz looks the easiest, but means gundogan would be my 4th mid for a bit and could I only upgrade capoue to a 5.8 mid.

Sorry an essay and got no real signal, but appreciate the help.

    Thanks

    Current team:
    Foster, Jaku
    Fuchs, Pieters, Holebas, Smith, Amat
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Firmino, Allen, Capoue
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

    Which option do you like:
    (a) Lukaku, Capoue out - Anichebe, Hazard in (for a -4 hit will play 3-5-2) or
    (b) Sanchez, Smith out - Hazard, Alonso in (for a -4 hit) or
    (c) Lukaku, Firmino, Smith out - Defoe, Hazard, Alonso in (for a -8 hit)

    Thoughts & thanks.

I'm considering sterling to firm or cout tonight to save the 0.1.
Just noticed that Brazil have 2 friendlies over the break. Thurs 10th home to Argentina. Wed 16th away to Peru.

Got caught up in the hype and did Walcott + Chadli to Hazard + Fletcher. Leaves me with this:

      Pickford / Mandanda
      Mee / Walker / Lovren / Holebas / Francis
      Sanchez / Firmino / Hazard / Allen / Fletcher
      Aguero / Lukaku / Austin

Fingers crossed I never need Fletcher to play!

I definitely think it's more of a culture thing. Many of the Spaniards and few Portuguese we've had in the PL have adapted well but the same Spanish-speaking South Americans really haven't.

Exactly. Walker-Alonso seems the right move, but SPurs do have a nice run coming up, especially at home. If I wait 3 weeks, could get Alonso in for Holebas if I can free up money elsewhere.

Don't want to pick the wrong mio to lose for Eden, and only way to make that final decision is to wait til after the matches tomorrow.

Yep, I think at times like this, it's an advantage to just sit back and let everyone panic. It's funny, even the most careful of players are panicked, anything could happen tomorrow. .1 is nothing really when your SV is over 102.

My head has gone this week and to be honest it's all become a bit farcical.

Was sitting nicely in top 20k after a brilliant few weeks, midfield of:

            Sanchez, Firmino, Walcott, Antonio, Hojbjerg

Antonio had to go and Walcott too, I reckoned.

At this point I had decided on Hazard being essential, and should have just done Walcott & Antonio to Hazard & Gundogan as planned. Simple. And yet somehow. the lack of good fixtures amongst my defence, the existence of the AOA chip, plus alcohol, somehow convinced me to go:

            Antonio & Walcott & Hojbjerg > Coutinho & Gundogan & Redmond.

And now before half my players even play a game, I am about to go Redmond & Firmino > Hazard & De Roon. 19 points and two -4s gone in the space of a few clicks. Hate this game

Why are people willing to take out Sanchez to fund Haz but not Kun which gives them better balance?

He will score 5 goals is the reasoning. But Costa has much better odds to score that and not even get that 5th yellow.

Not having Kun brings better balance to the team. It's funny that not a lot of mention abt Kun here after Haz and Costa's exploits.

He's only scored five goals once since he was a junior. It's unlikely to happen again.

Sanchez is a direct swap I guess. Also, Sanchez and Haz have their best fixtures in the same GWs pretty much so the captain rotation between Haz and Kun is better.

the vast number of people that captain kun, 2-3 goals and you don't have him can destroy your rank

Would argue KDB is more essential than Kun in this City's team

Captain Hazard instead and you can shoot up the rankings. I did today, and gained about 800k places.

People are too pessimistic and so scared of being different that they fail to consider the possible upside.

It's a risk and reward thing.

There's the potential to at least partially cover Arsenal's attack via Walcott and Ozil - more difficult to do the same with Aguero.

True given that Ars don't play with a striker now. Would you have the following front 7?

                Haz/KDB/Walcott/Firmino/Coutinho
                Lukaku/Costa

            Which move?

            A) capoue to Pedro

            B) firminio to haz

My other mids are Sanchez, gundogan, coutinho.

Will have to play gundogan a bit as my 4th mid if I do b.

And will only be able to upgrade capoue to a 5.8

Difficult situation, tempted to do Sanchez -> Hazard.
However... Aguero, Coutinho and Firmino all may not play next GW.
            Interesting.

Taking out Hazard and Costa on my wildcard gw6 has finished my season. Rival now 70pts clear no chance coming back.

Can I PLEASE get some feedback on these moves before 1am.

            A) Mane》Hazard Wilson》Anichbe smith》 Alomso -8

            B) Sterling 》Hazard Wilson》 Anichbe -4

Hurts the eyes, absolute no point getting Anichibe unless you're playing 3-5-2 with Anichibe on the bench.

Taking out Hazard is reasonable. But can't find one reason you'd get Costa out with those sweet price rises and he was top scorer as well.

Should I do Sterling to Hazard and Wilson to Anichbe

I think that's a fair trade. Sterling & Wilson not exactly tearing it up. Just don't expect too much from Anichebe.

Also, Santa is right. 70 points is nothing at this stage. Well, it's something, but totally catch-able.
