There’s now little debate required – we need to get Eden Hazard in our squads.

Watching him bewitch the Everton defence, weaving patterns with Diego Costa and a revitalised Pedro was evidence enough. Dive into the numbers, and it’s confirmed.

Seven goals in his last eight matches for club and country. Underneath, Hazard’s vital statistics – particularly his goal threat – are outperforming even his Player of the Year season.

Throw in the fact that he’s the only top bracket midfielder that boasts penalties, plus Chelsea’s irresistible form and an array of Christmas fixtures that scream goals and points and the evidence is overwhelming.

I’m struggling to see any argument against Hazard.

The real debate surrounds how we slice our squads up to make way.

Just days ago I raised the possibility of shedding Alexis Sanchez – the leading FPL points scorer before today – and now, in my squad at least, it rears it’s head once again.

I can retain Sanchez if I lose Walcott but, in doing so, I’m putting faith in Ilkay Gundogan and, also, restricting myself to forever scrimping across my back five.

Walcott is an unreliable Fantasy asset, playing as part of an Arsenal squad rich in attacking options.

Inevitably, he will find himself rotated. By choosing him over Sanchez, I will forever be clenched as the teamsheet is announced, or as the clock hits 70 minutes.

But there is a 3.6 gap between Walcott and Sanchez. Meanwhile, the underlying stats show that, in terms of average goal threat, the former is even outperforming the Chilean.

I look ahead to the fixtures and wonder if I can continue to get by with a restricted budget. If Gundogan can deliver on his promise and if Jose Holebas and Gareth McAuley are enough.

Sacrificing Sanchez will dissolve such concerns. If he frustrates, I will have the funds to replace Walcott, perhaps with a second Liverpool midfielder, while still having the means to upgrade the defence to seize upon Chelsea’s obvious and unparalleled resilience.

Sanchez could very easily end the season as the top scoring FPL asset – although Hazard will likely have a say in that.

But retaining Sanchez restricts the flexibility to react to form and fixtures and, if I keep him now, he’s locked in – unlikely to leave my squad unless stricken by injury.

While he’ll doubtless gain me handsome returns in the meantime, will those points outweigh what can be won with Walcott and the extra 3.6?

It’s an agonising scenario – particularly with Arsenal yet to take the field.

Urged along by a volatile market, like a lot of folk this evening, I’m driven to make changes in the next few hours.

But I know that tomorrow’s evidence will likely provide answers – Walcott’s absence, an ineffectual 60-minute appearance or a steller display would make the decision far easier.

I’m likely to watch prices rise and fall tonight, waiting for more evidence before making what seems a crunch decision.

But one choice is already made – Hazard will be in my lineup for Gameweek 12.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Kane expected to start tomorrow after passing a late fitness test.

And not only that, Dembele too. Dembele theory has another chance to prove itself.

This team isn't looking too hot atm.
What would u be doing next?
    Austin- Deeney perhaps?

    Heaton, Pickford,
    Stones, Lovren, Walker, Holebas, Amat.
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling, Whelen.
    Lukaku, Deeney, Aguero (c).

Sterling to Redmond, Lukaku to Costa for a hit?

With a defense of Friend, Holebas, Smith, Amat and Pieters, would you do Smith -> McAuley for a -4?

Some decent fixtures coming up for west brom and Smith won't be played for the next 3.

Or should I just play Friend this week, although he's up against Chelsea?

So how's everyone else getting Hazard in? Personally, I pulled the trigger on a switch from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2, with Benteke to Barrow and Walcott to Hazard.

That leaves Allen as my 7th attacker instead of 8th, which I'm happy to roll with for the next few weeks. If he proves ineffective I'll have the option to go back to 3-4-3 by getting Austin in and downgrading Allen and somewhere else.

Agree. Fpl is about having in-form players and dropping out-of-form players.. It always comes with a risk of backfiring but it doesn't mean it's a knee jerk.

It's proving important to move quickly this season and team value will be important later on.

I wasn't stating that fpl is solely about those two things... Is it so bizarre to drop players who are currently performing badly (and don't appear to be improving) and buy players who are performing well and have decent fixtures?

Yeah a couple of transfers if done right can set your team up for two months. Points deductions are worth it in that case.

The way I play it every player I have can be transferred depending on form/fixtures/price.
I am never afraid to make early transfers to avoid price rises and the thing people forget is that players can be brought back at a later date.

The other thing I noticed is that all the wonderful rotations that are thought up at the start of the season go out the window.
People just try and pick an 11/13 that will bring points and might have one or two non-playing players 4.0 etc

Getting Hazard in can't be seen as a knee jerk, last season aside he's been about as important as any other big hitter.

Getting someone like Gündogan/Allen in after a big week can be seen as one as neither have a history of being point scoring beasts.

The whole context of knee jerking is slightly muddled up.

For the record, I got Hazard in last night, got Gündogan in last Saturday night, have no problem 'kneejerking', more concerned about getting in the right players before I can't afford them, I prefer to call it being decisive.

If anyone hasn't noticed its not just Chelsea who are winning games and scoring goals. Check the top 4 teams out. #justsaying

With Che, it's only 2-3 guys doing all the scoring. Hence the craze.

Pedro haz Costa moses Alonso have all got points. It's that much different to Sanchez Walcott Giroud ozil or aguero sterling KDB gundo or coutinho firmino mane Lallana. So many goals in all these teams. Form and fixtures come out about even too...

                  People like premium double-ups.

Pedro and Moses are clearly tier 2. Alonso was under the radar until the goal. Only leaves Haz and Costa. A double-up is very very common.

With Arsenal, Ozil has not been delivering, Giroud was not fit, and as a result, many doubled on Sanchez and Walcott (me until last week).

With Liverpool, Lallana is tier 2, but the other three are at the same level, and picking 2 out of those three was/is a common source of frustration here. But many have gone Firmino and Coutinho/Mane (me included).

Aguero prices out KDB, but a double-up with Sterling (me included) is the preferred choice. Gundo is a very new wagon. Too early to consider him a source of consistent points.

Yup, so what it's turning into is the battle of the premium double ups? I have Sanchez Wally and Coutinho Firmino and I'm still very happy about that. Those two versus Aguero Sterling/KDB and Haz/Costa...what I'm saying is that there is no way to call which will be more profitable out of the 4 and most of the transfers flying around involve these players being removed

Based on recent returns it is clear to see Chelsea are delivering the highest returns especially Haz/Costa every game in the past 5. That is why people are dropping 1 of their Pool mids for Haz. Wally has been injured and a rotation risk IMO so only option for some is Sanchez. City mids some are going Gun as he is cheap and playing in the front 4 most of the time. Rest of mids apart from KDB are sporadic and he is expensive and still returns are moderate.

This Chelsea run is throwing a spanner in the works - I was considering a -8 to get Alonso in apart from Hazard.

I can afford a direct Walker to Marcus Alonso previously of Bolton Wanderers swap but looks like he'll definitely go up at least once more in the 2 weeks. Annoying.

I'd keep calm over Alonso and not make any drastic measures to fit him in, Zouma should be available after the break, see where he fits in to this team, could be a more affordable route.

There's still life in West Brom/Holebas/Bournemouth/Arsenal (after United) to make Alonso worth ripping teams up for.

                Thoughts?

                A) Arnie/Firmino > Allen/Hazard (-4)
                B) Arnie > Pedro FT

Leaning towards A - and giving Hazard the armband.

                    Good afternoon all! 🙂

So how about that Chelsea with that lucky win? Close one. 😆

I think Hazard can't be ignored, and being a big fan of Conte in the past and knowing what he's capable of, I unfortunately don't see this Chelsea form dropping any time soon now that the players are nailing his system.

With that being said can I ask you all on your thoughts regarding the following:

I'm contemplating Ibra -> Defoe and Redmond -> Hazard for next gw. The one good thing about holding Ibra this long, is the funds for Haz are easy to come by.

Will give me a front 7 of:

                    Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Coutinho
                    Aguero, Defoe, Austin
                    (Allen sub)

My only concern is if Defoe and Austin are strong enough options up front?

Defoe and Austin are underpriced for what they can deliver, don't think it's too weak at all.

Defoe has been scoring goals since he returned to England now and 7m is cheap for him.

Looked a dirty player, can see it being a short bandwagon, especially when he i rested against Palace

Defoe is the third highest scoring striker alongside Aguero 🙂

I've just been looking at him. It's a pity there is a two week break for Sunderlands new found confidence to erode.

Why are Aguero Cappers so gutted?

As a Deeney capper last week, i'm delighted with the 12 point return

because i could have captained Hazard

Same here AGUERO (c) is way better than my Deeney (c) last week. I learned to to be greedy with captains. Avoiding a blank is my first priority.

                      Pickford / Jaku
                      Koscielny / Stones / Fuchs / Amat / McAuley
                      Walcott / Allen / Firmino / Son / Capoue
                      Aguero / Ibra / Lukaku

                      2 FT 0.0 ITB

                      Thoughts on:
Ibra and Son --> Defoe/Austin and Hazard

Went Aguero -> Costa and Walcott -> Hazard earlier to give me a front 8 of
                      Sanchez Hazard Firmino Coutinho Allen
                      Costa Lukaku Austin

Crazy moves I know but have a good feeling about them

I know it's the same move many are considering, but my options are:

                      A) Sanchez --> Hazard (free)
                      B) Lukaku --> someone + Redmond/Gundogan --> Hazard
                      C) Chill and risk no Hazard
