And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

One very lucky goal and another great finish.

His record in the league in past seasons is brilliant. If Spurs find their groove then there is not reason not to consider him as long as Son + Ali don't share his points. I'm going Kane and Walker. Three Spurs too many and defence is great to own against poor teams.

It was terrible and clearly intentional given the history between both players as well as frustration that City had lost the game. He deserves to miss every one of the four games he's ineligible.

He looked at who was coming up to challenge him and saw it was Luiz and went in like a heat seeking missile. I feel for Kun, he is trying to do the best he can, but don't think for a minute he doesn't know exactly what city have coming up in terms of fixtures. He doesn't like pep, doesn't like being called out for no defensive help and probably doesn't think city can win it all this year. That tackle was so selfish on so many levels.

Does anyone know how the price changes work specifically? Are all the surplus transfer in/out ignored and made redundant for each rise/drop?

Kane was at around 300% or something ridiculous before his rise, but they all seem to start back from 0 again and only count transfers from that point forward, correct?

    1. Diva

There's still a chance he could rise 0.3 this week. But it would be helpful if the transfers were a little more evenly spread across the week.

It would if players were protected from rising until after the GW was finished, a policy which the FPL should have considered more.

I like KDB. The man hustles and rarely lets anyone distract him from his game. But I dropped both him and Kun last week for Kane and Sanchez. I'll be honest, I dropped Kun for Kane first and then had a FT left and looked at KDB vs Sanchez and pulled the trigger even though it meant no city coverage at all. KDB needs to start shooting more like Ozil.

This post is to encourage people who've had a terrible start to this season not to give up all hope.
I know that I'm no longer a regular in the DZ but wanted to revel in the very temporary glory of being in first place in Jonty's Millionaires Club.
    https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/leagues/standings/924390/classic
I remember last season that I was despairing after GW5 that I was ranked over 2M and someone created a league here for people who were ranked over 2.1M by GW5. I ended up under 6K overall last season and won that league.
My start this season has been even worse due to a combination of very poor decisions and a fair helping of bad luck, and although I climbed a lot in rank today then that will go down tomorrow because all my players have played.
So whilst I can bask in the sun for one day being number 1 in a league comprised of current failures then I'll grab the opportunity with both hands, once I can wrestle them from this keyboard.
    TL;DR?
Don't give up no matter how bad you think your team is.

I'll get into the top 10K in the end though, and hopefully higher, but this season has been a struggle to say the least.

        It's all swings and roundabouts.
The world keeps turning and sometimes you pick the right captain, sometimes you play Capoue when he scores (never in my case) and sometimes you bring in a player on form with good fixtures and he immediately becomes rubbish (I'd like to use another word there but would probably get banned) or gets crocked.

Believe me Kane, you can make back 150pts since we're not even halfway though the season yet.
I did it in my mini league last season by continuing to back Fuchs and Alli when they went through bad patches and everyone in my mini-league got rid of them.

For me it's build team value, save those chips for late season, ease up on the hits, be alive to changing form and fixtures, plan carefully for the double gameweeks and trust the stats.

For me it's build team value until Christmas by jumping on bandwagons, making early transfers and taking risks.
Don't listen to anyone who tells you to avoid a player because he may be suspended for one week due to an accumulation of yellow cards (see Costa).
Don't be afraid to take hits if it means that you can look at your team and think that it's better than it was, but never more than 8pts unless you have players with serious injuries or long term suspensions.
After Christmas then be very hesitant to take a hit and pay careful attention to when the double gameweeks are coming.
Someone posted a brilliant spreadsheet last season before the DGWs which really helped me to use my wildcard at the right time to optimise my bench boost and TC chips.
Dammit. His name began with B and I keep thinking of Baldrick but that's not the name.

Walcott has one more week for me now and eriksen is coming in then.

Is eriksen ever rotated/rested over xmas?

Because it a near cetainty that Walcott will be benched. Wenger only plays him for 70min most games

Walcott may well have scored/assited if he hadn't been taken off at 65 mins. WHU were terrible at the back. If Wenger takes The Ox off instead then you wouldn't even be posting this. I'm managed to get Sanchez in and keep Theo because he't still the best value for points in that team. Keep the faith. Ozil is no where near as good without Giroud's bonce to aim at.

I did alright overall this week because I got Kane and sanchez so it was slightly above break even. Including the lost Ozil points and hits.

Its one of those things. You were not wrong to get rid of Ozil but maybe could have held off given they had a good fixture this week. Its between Theo/Siggy anyway for best midpriced midfielder. Pedro's minutes are limited and no others appeal.

I kind of rate Lallana, slightly above Gylfi, only because of how bad Swansea are and how key Lala looks to Pool, admittedly not today though but it is definitely those that look the best value midfield points

I reckon you'll miss out on Spurs and Saint's defence points short term and Arsenal's long term. Not much you can do to free up funds with that front 7 though. Only thing I'd suggest is Firminho > Lallana given how good Adam's points per game is.

Overall they have been working well.
But the key to any transfer is trying to make sure the guy your selling will not score more then the fella you got in. (sounds obvious-but it easier to gauge this over a 3/4 week period rather then the 1/2 week timeframe - I try to think longterm - it does not always work)

So far I have only being stung by pedro and ozil two weeks in a row.

I have also got lucky with a lalana injury when I got rid of him before a liverpool game.

I do the early transfers to try and improve the team long term, or if I need to avoid price rises and have a by product of better team value for the rest of the season.

I think I can nearly ignore price/rises and falls for a while now as aguero will not be a factor.

copy a third of his/her team so you can cover likely captain choices he will make.

Then for the other third pick the players you think that performed well in a game but were unlucky hitting the bar/look lively etc in a game.

The final third will be obviously form players that are scoring that you do not have

Aye, probably because nobody really cares about the defence. Most transfers are used on the forward players unless there are no pressing issues then we might spend them on defence. Generally speaking.

I love chaos and uncertainty. I think its great for the game, and should benefit the more experienced players in my view

Two incidents which completely altered every team/decision being made this week

Kun loses his head and gets sent off with 30 seconds left in the game
Alexis scores a hatrick in 14 minutes to add to his assist in the first half

Brutal money swings in daily fantasy today, I will never forget this weekend thats for sure

I agree as the more experienced players are better at picking form players - less experienced players just kneejerk anyone in.

The Kun one is a very annoying one for me..I dropped him last week and was hoping to gain an advantage over the Xmas period as there will be a lot of Pep rotation.

Have to agree here, I feel some ppl are getting bailed out by his suspension because they are forced to transfer him out rather than having to make the tough decision to drop a fit Kun (which is so frowned upon on FFS)

I didn't even consider him on my WC

Have Kane and considering Eriksen as well. I reckon that pairing could be profitable over the Hull and Burnley games. Thoughts?

Just worried about his tendency to go missing as per earlier in the season

Son and Ali will damage Eriksen's potential point ceiling but he's definitively a good choice and great differential alongside the other Spurs attacking mids. I'm sticking to Kane and Walker, most secure source of points across the good fixtures.

True, Son and Alli are factors as well.

disagree, having more quality players on his team only enhances his creativity threat. Typically he is more of a play-maker than a goal scorer.

Considering the same myself as a differential

Will watch the match first.... With a template emerging.... I am looking at differential options.... Eriksen, Iheanacho, maybe Origi

honestly, i wanted him from the start of the season but he was injured. what more could you want? A Oop Defender on a pulis squad who is on set pieces.

cant remember a season where the transfer market was so crazy on a Saturday night mid season as it is this GW. Probably 3 triple risers.

It's not totally surprising when one of the most highly owned assets in the game is clearly ruled out for a few Gameweeks and he frees up a huge chunk of cash to distribute around your team.
