His biggest tally of the season. A third successive double-figure total. Sixty-eight points in his last seven Gameweek starts.

We can’t deny the numbers – Zlatan Ibrahimovic is delivering and refusing to leave the door ajar for a cast of competitors up front.

Both Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero are now back from the cold and, while we will doubtless begin measuring up for the surgery to install one of that pair alongside the Swede, it currently seems unthinkable to drop the Manchester United striker.

Having scored or assisted 16 of 26 goals scored while he’s been on the pitch, Ibrahimovic has been involved in 61% of United’s goals. While Jose Mourinho’s men have yet to hit the heights to suggest that they are a true attacking force, that’s a difficult statistic to ignore.

Zlatan’s fixtures remain strong and, seemingly classed as “undroppable” by Mourinho; there appears little or no counter argument. Ibrahimovic increased by 0.3 in price ahead of today’s deadline and, again, he’s already ranked second only to Costa for transfers, with another hike looming.

If we wish to opt for two heavyweights in our forward lines, our decision currently appears to create a head-to-head between Costa and Aguero: two strikers who present two very different scenarios.

Chelsea are undoubtedly pacesetters supreme. Their current form and confidence cannot be questioned and, while the fixture list remains demanding, it would be brave to underestimate Antonio Conte’s side against any opposition.

Manchester City’s fixtures are also testing, but they will go to Anfield on New Year’s Eve still in stuttering form.

The Gameweek 17 victory over Arsenal looked priceless in re-establishing their status as title challengers but the performance in tonight’s 3-0 win at Hull City was, for long periods, still unconvincing.

Aguero may be able to circumvent any malaise and doubts – arguably, he could flick the switch and re-invigorate City’s season.

However, at 12.8, he costs a princely sum which would surely restrict flexibility in midfield or defence. In many ways, Aguero now represents a gamble.

That seems an unthinkable and unlikely sentence to write on these pages. The Argentine has, for so long, been a mainstay of the Fantasy Football Scout community and an asset that requires little thought or research. But that is surely no longer the case.

Having missed seven matches of the season through ill-discipline and, with the jury still out on Pep Guardiola’s side, the choice between Costa and Aguero is not straightforward and even appears weighted in the Chelsea man’s favour.

Currently 2.1 cheaper than Aguero, the Spaniard has shown unerring consistency and, crucially, could allow us to retain significant funds in midfield, or even opt for a Blues pairing in defence.

But, as we’ve seen, the landscape can shift so quickly. With just a matter of days before Gameweek 19, our opinions and plans have to remain flexible.

Midfield assets like Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez, in particular, are under constant pressure to perform now that Aguero is back in the game.

Hazard’s spot-kick against Bournemouth may have kept talk of an exodus subdued for now, although two goals in six Gameweek starts is still not enough to justify his selection now that Costa has returned to the equation. We need more from Hazard against Stoke City.

As for Sanchez, he hit a post and fired in more attempts than any other player in Monday’s matches but has now produced just a single goal since his heralded hat-trick at the London Stadium back in Gameweek 14.

Arsenal still appear to be struggling at the Emirates without Santi Cazorla in the double pivot. That needs to change for the visit of Big Sam’s Crystal Palace: we perhaps need to see Sanchez back in the striker’s role. We certainly need him back in the points to stave off any talk of exit plans.

Again, such a knee-jerk reaction seems unthinkable when we look back on the scramble for the Chilean’s services only last month.

But that’s typical of this campaign and, for tonight at least, the only current certainty appears to be relentlessly providing and scoring goals for Manchester United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

            Remove Sanchez?? Really, have you seen the fixtures? remove a sub par Hazard and install Costa if that is what he wants.

          Kinda has to be Hazard to someone like Phillips then?
          You could also do Eriksen + Origi to Costa and De Roon. That leaves you with either Anichebe or De Roon playing the next weeks, though, but you could downgrade a goalie and Clyne to fund upgrading to a 3rd striker for 3-4-3 or a 5th mid for 3-5-2.

          You cant afford both and fixtures turn really well in GW 20 for WBA, Pallace and Middlesbrough. So I would look to downgrade Hazard before Sanchez as Arsenals fixtures are Brill and you will have Chelsea cover with Costa.

      Depends how you want to play it. I like a stronger midfield - so something like:

      Pickford - Hennessey
      Luiz - Evans - Jones - Chambers - Holgate
      Hazard - Sanchez - Phillips - Capoue -De Roon
      Ibrahimovic - Costa - Aguero

        So basicly - Capoue and Hazard with poorer defence V Ramirez and Townsend with a better defence.

        Still liking the Palace/WBA/Mids fixtures over the mid-long term and can rotate between mids and defs as needed?

    Would Payet > Yaya and Kane > Aguero be good use of 2 FT?

    (I Own Costa and don't pick Utd players as Utd fan)

    Lloris (Jako)
    Vertonghen Alonso Holebas (Evans Amat)
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Redmond (De Roon)
    Ibrahimovic Costa Carroll

    0.4itb & 1FT

    A) Save FT
    B) Holebas -> Jones
    C) Holebas -> Gabriel
    D) Firmino, Vertonghen -> Lallana, Bellerin (-4)
    E) Firmino, Lloris -> Mikhi, Heaton (-4)

    Probably worth a save?

    Although I am planning this transfer Kane > Costa just seems one of those moves that's bound to bite you on the ar*e! Kane against an awful Watford side who couldn't beat an awful palace team at home.

    Costa 13 goals from 24 shots on target vs Kane 7 goals with 16 shots on target it's hard to argue against the move.

      Kane Faced an awful Hull and awful Burnley(only away) at home almost without any shots on targets

      Kane looked jaded against Hull and scored 15/25 away from home last season and has as many double figure hauls this season as Costa in 5 less games

        Costa blanked 3 times the whole season. Kane blanked that much in his last three. Don't make others go deluded with awful facts.

            Ysp he did. He almost scored against Burnley. Heaton just saving between his legs. But Kane is very streaky like Sanchez and Costa and Ibra are outperforming him by miles right now.

    Low to mid-price defender to get in, lads?? Need shot of Amat. Would love him to play next game, however. Am thinking Cedric or Chrissy Brunt. (Recently sold Evans for Alonso...)

      Just keep this week. All the good fixtures next week are for the expensive teams. Let Cedric start at first before considering him. Brunt is a good pick. Just let the fixtures come.

      Ake. Cedric gets rotates and WBrom seem to have lost th winning touch. Use remaining money to bloster your attacking and midfield options. Alosno move? Really nice. I couldn't be more happy with the way we Blues are playing 🙂

    Pickford

    McAuley - Cedric - Alonso - Ake

    Zaha - Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen

    Ibra - Costa

    Origi/Robinson/De Roon/Muniesa

    I barely got a 29 as of now and I used transfers (-4) to get Ibra and De Roon in for Benteke and Siggy but am I GTG? I honestly suck at this game and its been 8 gameweeks since I got even an 80. I need help guys, what changes do I make and who do I captain and who do I bring in next gmweek?

          Tbf your team is pretty template. You do need a decent third striker/5th midfielder or a better 4th defender. Cedric/Muniesa/Ake isn't worthy to be in a 4 man defense

              Eriksen has been playing so well. Stats are amazing and you suggest to get him in for someone who has just come back from injury and probably won't start? Sounds like a bandwagon to me.

          After next 2gw's Siggy --> ?

          A) Sterling - eve TOT whu SWA bou MU sun STO ( 5 goals 6 assists)

          A) Lallana - sun mu SWA CHE hul TOT lei ARS ( 6 goals 6 assists)

          Similar price and output but Sterling has better fixtures.

            Chadli/Phillips/Jrod all cheaper option and have better fixtures than both of them.

            Aguero or Coutinho if you really want someone from City or Pool in the future.

          I want Kun back into my team but struggling to make him fit.

          Bank 0.4m
          2 FT

          Pick - Grant
          Walker - Holebas - Brunt - Taylor - Amat
          Hazard - KDB - Sanchez - Eriksen - Capoue
          Ibra - Origi - Defoe

          I can do..

          1) Ibra, Origi, Capoue > Kun, Carroll, Carrick
          2) Origi, KDB, Eriksen > Kun, Zaha, Lallana

          Either sound good? Any better suggestions?

              Yeah that might be a good idea.. I am also thinking about mustafi if he drops more might be a decent purchase .. but Arsenal conceded 12x 1 goal.. that's just super depressing
