Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

    If you owned both Hazard and Costa at the following prices:
    Hazard PP: 9.9 SP: 10.1 CP: 10.4
    Costa PP: 10.7 SP: 10.7 CP: 10.7
    ...and wanted to free up some funds soon by selling one. How would the SP affect your thinking?
    I understand the argument for definitely keeping Costa if you paid 9.5m for him but if you paid 10.7?

    I always played the game as a casual prior to this season, not giving TV much of a thought. So I would appreciate your thoughts? Is getting 10.7m for selling Costa now a good deal?

      Costa is definitely a better option than Hazard. I wouldn't think too much about SP.
      He's more consistent and the focal point. Will chase Golden Boot till the end of the season too.

    With the fixture congestion upto 4th Feb including the FA Cup, is it worth having a full playing 15 (maybe risk a duff 2nd keeper) and no duffers for 5th mids and 5th defenders ? I really don't want to rely on the likes of Amat/Kingsley/Fletcher etc or non starting players having to be in or ending up in my starting 11

      Nah. With all these big hitters in the mix we need all the money we can get. De Roon has proved he can get the odd double digit haul and Amat's always capable of a cleanie. I wouldn't want to spread my cash for players I'll only be partially relying on for a specific part of the season.

          Is this your current team or a wildcard draft? What formation are you looking to play?

          I'd downgrade Aguero to Ibra or Lukaku. If going with Ibra, you could also downgrade Luiz to Phil Jones. And use the balance to fund Sanchez

    Fancy getting Rondon in for Origi for the Hull match and beyond.

    Only problem is, I already have triple WBA (Foster, Philips and Fletcher) - and would need to take a hit to replace either Foster or Fletcher.

      Wouldn't be the worst idea. I think the defence needs the surgery more than anything. I have Pickford and Jaku and I'm gona go keeper less this weekend and use 2 ft to sort it out following week.

    Not sure I understand the logic of holding onto Swansea assets given Bradley's dismissal. Are teams without a clear manager historically better performers? With the options in MF I'd quickly find a good replacement for Siggy

    Reposted this from earlier to get some more views from a new crowd.

    I'm tempted to use the 2nd wildcard straight away. I don't hate my team but I could easily make 9 or 10 changes.
    H2H cash league is the focus this season so I'm not too bothered about smashing a DGW as it will still only be 3 points in the H2H. Thinking an early wildcard could give me a nice head start on the second half of the season and maximise the impact of the WC. Thoughts?

          Ha - just got VVD for Vert today so he'll be sticking around for a bit. I have my eye on Rose for GW23. I think you're right - a few hits over the next 3 weeks should be enough to sort it out.

          Not 100% sure on Lallana yet as I'd like to get Coutinho back too when he's ready

            yep I've no Liv so will be eyeing one of those two soon also. Other target of mine is Brunt or if I'm to penny pinch Nyom (def need some WBA for their upcoming fix). GL mate!
