Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas get amongst the goals as Everton dismantle Manchester City to leap onto our Fantasy radars ahead of a kind upcoming schedule. As Sergio Aguero’s stock continues to plummet under Pep Guardiola, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves it late but delivers yet again as Jose Mourinho’s men earn a draw with Liverpool. Here’s the Stock Check following Sunday’s pair of encounters…

On The Rise

Romelu Lukaku
It’s five goals and an assist in the last seven Gameweeks for the Everton forward who seems to have rediscovered a degree of consistency ahead of some very favourable fixtures.

With injury concerns surrounding Diego Costa and Olivier Giroud for our three-man frontlines, Lukaku strengthened his case for inclusion by firing the opener at home to City in today’s early encounter at Goodison Park.

Owned by over 24% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Toffees frontman is looking difficult to ignore at a price of 9.5 right now.

Over 14,000 FPL managers have already snapped him up since yesterday’s deadline as the Merseysiders prepare to face Crystal Palace, Stoke, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Sunderland in the upcoming five Gameweeks.

Kevin Mirallas, Ross Barkley
The Everton midfield pair have also upped their output in recent weeks.

An assist for Lukaku’s effort, followed by an early second-half strike, means Mirallas now has two goals and a pair assists in the last four matches. Given that he had failed to produce any attacking points between Gameweek 5-17, it’s something of an understatement to say that this comes as a major improvement.

Sitting in a mere 1.8% of FPL squads, the Belgian has dropped from a starting price of 6.5 to 6.0 this season.

Having now started four successive matches under Ronald Koeman, Mirallas looks to have finally established himself as a regular and is shaping up to be an enticing differential ahead of those aforementioned fixtures.

Barkley’s pair of assists means he has now supplied a goal and four assists in the last six Gameweeks, compared with two goals and a single assist in the opening 15 rounds of matches.

Similar to Mirallas, he’s dropped 0.5 in price (from 7.5 to 7.0) since the start of the campaign and, with an ownership less than 6%, he is now another differential to consider.

Joel Robles
The Spaniard seems to be something of a lucky charm for Everton between the posts.

The Merseysiders have now produced four clean sheets in the five league matches that Robles has started this term, compared with three shutouts over the 16 fixtures with Maarten Stekelenburg in the first XI.

Priced at 4.7 and boasting a mere 0.3% ownership, Robles looks to have barged his way past the Dutchman in Koeman’s plans and that Everton schedule may well turn a few heads for those currently eyeing up an early wildcard.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The veteran United strike came to the rescue yet again to maintain his stunning recent form with a late leveller against Liverpool.

Now top in the FPL forward rankings and second only to Alexis Sanchez overall, Ibrahimovic’s strike means he has scored or assisted in nine of his last 10 league outings.

With trips to Hull City and Leicester City, allied with home clashes against Hull City, Watford and Bournemouth in the next six Gameweeks, it’s difficult to look beyond the Swede as the one “must have” option up front. His consistency continues to rack up the points at a time when other big-hitters have faltered.

James Milner
The Liverpool man continues to profit from penalty duties, with today’s strike at Old Trafford marking his sixth of the season.

Put into perspective, only one other player – Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe, with five – has converted more than three spot-kicks in 2016/17.

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to utilise Milner as a left-back has understandably deterred most from investing, given that he’s listed as a midfielder in FPL.

The 4%-owned summer signing from City is now up to second in terms of value behind Adam Lallana in the Liverpool midfield and has climbed above Philippe Coutinho for overall points.

If, as expected, he’s reclassified as a defender in FPL next season, Milner may well be one of the first names in our pre-season squads should Klopp opt against bringing in another left-back.

In Decline

Sergio Aguero
Today’s failure at Goodison means that the City striker has notched just once in his last four league appearances.

Given that he also missed four of the last eight Gameweeks due to suspension, Aguero’s standing as “essential” for our starting XIs has all but vanished this season.

With just a single attempt on target against the Toffees, the Argentine shows no sign of shedding the inconsistency that continues to blight his displays under Pep Guardiola.

Having recently lost spot-kick duties to Yaya Toure, Aguero’s appeal is on the wane again as City now prepare to host an in-form Tottenham.

Whereas Harry Kane has earned in excess of 52,000 new owners prior to their head-to-head, only 3,000+ have taken the plunge on the out-of-sorts South American, with over 6,000 choosing to show him the exit door instead.

Daniel Sturridge
There was no real surprise to see the Liverpool striker named amongst the substitutes after an insipid midweek showing at Southampton in the EFL Cup.

Klopp instead opted for Divock Origi to lead the line at Old Trafford before the introduction of fit-again Philippe Coutinho saw Roberto Firmino shift back into a “false nine” role for the remaining half hour.

Despite the absence of Sadio Mane, Sturridge ultimately warmed the bench from start to finish, and after a brief run of two successive starts in all competitions, he looks to have quickly tumbled back down the pecking order once again.

What to do here? I think Ake is probably the most pressing, looking to get similar priced player but no idea which at this stage, any suggestions on what to do here? I could look to upgrade but would like to save some cash if I need to change out Giroud. 1 FT and 2.7 ITB

Both Ake and Amat are a problem.

Grant's fixtures are turning really bad.

Looks like defence is a priority...Fabio / Holgate for cheap.....Baines/Coleman for a touch more

It's a tough one, I think I'd rather have Kane out of the 2 as long as you are content with restricting Spurs options elsewhere in your team. I am holding Giroud for a week regardless of injury then reassessing. Reckon Kane will score more though and Spurs look very good at the moment....I never quite trust Lukaku enough.

Heh. It's not impossible but he looked woeful yesterday. At least early in the season he was getting lots of chances and not converting. Now he just looks useless.

I'm not a believer in Defoe though so he'll probably stick around another week if giroud is crocked.

I know City haven't been great, and Aguero has been inconsistent. But I can't help feel Aguero is the man to have with Ibra. His next game is tough but after that he's got 5 good games in 6, with the bad one being the derby at home. Lukaku is just as inconsistant as Aguero, and there's plenty of other Spurs players I'd love to own. Obviously the extra cost makes it difficult to transfer him in, but if I were wildcarding, he'd definitely be in my squad.

    1. vardys party
      • 10 Years

I'd just never feel comfortable captaining him. For £13m, you've got to captain or he's not worth it. He also seems to have a different role under pep compared to previous years

I don't get the captaincy thing. He'd only 1m more than Sanchez and we're not expecting to captain him every week. Yeah I agree he doesn't seem the same player under Pep, but I think if ever we were going to own him this season, this is the time for it.

Fair enough. Another point is the effect elsewhere of him. I've taken Aguero out this week as allows me to have 5 strong midfielders in Phillips, Eriksen Alli Haz Sanchez. That midfield would be very difficult with him

I wouldn't write him off either. Despite a red card and a missed penalty, he's still averaging 5.7 points a match. The issue is at his price he needs to be significantly better than the likes of Lukaku/Kane/Costa/Zlatan and he hasn't been.

    Giroud + Phillips --> Kane + Davies for -4?

Currently have a bit of a 4-5-3 so bringing in Davies as a 5th mid would ease selection headaches.

    Foster
    Alonso / Baines / Jones
    Hazard / Eriksen / Coutinho / Phillips
    Ibra / Kane / Lukaku

Jaku / De Roon / Pieters / Amat

I assume there isn't really a better option than Hazard for the armband?

Also tempted by him but surely Pedro will score a hattrick instead

I'm convinced these will be my next 5 transfers

    Holebas-Walker
    Ake-Chambers
    Aguero-Ibra
    Defoe-Kane
Hazard-Pedro(if a starting place is nailed down)

    Thoughts?

Any reply would be greatly appreciated

Why would ship Aguero before they play Swansea at home

      Keep Defoe

Sanchez Hazard Alli Phillips (de Roon)
    Ibra Costa Defoe

Chasing joint leaders in my mini league & 40 points behind... thinking of taking a -4 to try and make up the ground by doing Diomande, Allen -> Lukaku, de Roon. Would leave me with:

    Heaton
    Alonso Jones Smith
    Hazard(c) Sanchez(vc) Lallana Philips
    Giroud Zlatan Lukaku

    Pickford, de Roon, Pieters, Amat

No Spurs cover is hurting me tho... Thoughts?

At this point I think Spurs cover is essential. The general consensus is to own at least 2 Spurs players.

4.2 ITB - Thinking of bringing in Eriksen for Allen for the price rise and keep a tab on Giroud

It's not about Aguero's inconsistency, it's about his price and Pep playing him where he isn't effective and doesn't want to be, it's about being off pens, it's about rotation, it's about Jesus, and it's about anger management issues caused by frustration. I can see him slapping in a transfer request or slapping Pep

1)He scored ... Only played one half
          2) have you seen Swansea defend
          3) Burnely much better defensively ( not difficult) see also MUFC game

            1) Is one goal or even two enough?
            2) Yes. Poor, as are Burnley away from home
            3) Man Utd were often blanking. Burnley didn't exactly shut out a high scoring team.

Wouldn't put it past Pep to play Jesus against Swans though. Aguero just doesn't fit with his style of play. Options like Ibra, Kane and Lukaku are nailed every game. I just don't think Aguero is anymore

I'm not convinced anything is urgent here.... so pick up Jaku for Pick before the price rise?

    Foster/Pick

    Alonso/Walker/Holebas/pieters/Amat

    Sanchez/Alli/Lallana/ Stanislas/ fletcher

    Aguero/ Ibra/ Carroll

    Grant - Jaku
    Jones - Alonso - Cedric - Daniels - Tarkowski
    Sanches - Haz - Alli - Phillips - Allen
    Ibra - Kane - Defoe

    1FT 0.0ITB

Have the exact cash for these moves:
    Cedric --> Baines
    And
    Allen --> Davies (-4)

    Thoughts?

What do you night owls think here? My current team is:

    Heaton
    Walker Cedric Pieters
    Sanchez Hazard Alli Phillips
    Costa* Ibra Gray

    (Pickford* Capoue Ake Wasilewski)

    I'm thinking of doing:
    Costa to Kane
    Hazard to Coutinho

No way I would replace any Chelsea player before they play Hull at home

Yeah, good transfers but would definitely wait a week. Hull at home is prime for explosion.

If it becomes obvious that Costa isn't going to play midweek then maybe do the Kane move this week, Coutinho next.

        Good shouts re fixtures.

Only problem is I can't do Costa to Kane without freeing funds elsewhere, hence the Hazard transfer.

I think the best move I made this season is Aguero to Zlatan in GW 13, since then he got : 9 7 2 11 12 15 5 8 7. Cheers for that Ibracadabra.
