Tuesday treats us to no less than seven Premier League fixtures as Gameweek 23 gets up and running.

Arsenal’s home encounter with Watford has earned Alexis Sanchez the top spot in our Captain Poll yet again, with the Chilean bagging a goal or assist in nine of the last ten Gameweeks.

Spurs make their way to Wearside with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all in fine form.

We’ve handed the latter two places in this week’s Scout Picks with the Black Cats hampered by injuries and suspension as they attempt to clamber out of the basement.

Kane, meanwhile, bagged third in our Captain Poll on the back of six goals and two assists in five.

We’re keeping a keen eye on mid-price midfielders Junior Stanislas and Matt Phillips ahead of clashes against Palace and Middlesbrough.

Both are in form and, crucially, have fixtures in Gameweek 26 and 28 – at present, Bournemouth and West Brom are two of only six sides guaranteed to feature on both occasions.

The same applies to Swansea pair Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente as Southampton roll up to the Liberty Stadium. Both were amongst the goals in the Gameweek 22 win at Anfield – their second victory in three since the departure of Bob Bradley.

Burnley’s Andre Gray is also a man in form – indeed, with five goals in as many matches prior to Leicester’s visit to Turf Moor, he earned a rare place in the Scout Picks.

All six of those matches get underway at 7.45pm, leaving Liverpool and Chelsea to play out the Tuesday fixtures in the 8pm kick-off.

Roberto Firmino bagged a brace in his previous Anfield appearance and could be key as the Reds attempt to avoid a fourth straight home loss in all competitions.

With a goal or assist in 16 of his 20 top-flight outings this term, Diego Costa was the most transferred in forward for the Gameweek at a time where the Eden Hazard exodus continues at pace, with over 122,000 FPL managers parting company with the Belgian ahead of tonight’s deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    I would like to know:

    1. Is Mawson (SWA) a decent option at 4.5m esp if I don't need to play him in GW24 (mci) & GW26 (che) but play him against LEI, BUR & hul (GW28) - two goals in last four games, in an improving Swansea def?

    2. Did Southampton buy a CB? Or is Yoshida safe for the next two GW's (with VvD out)?

    3. How did Tom Carroll look last night?

Fernández or Naughton surely? Why waste 0.2m/0.3m?

Carroll was OK and would be a good bench midfielder with a GW28 game.

Any idea of who is most nailed in the Swans backline, or order of nailedness?

    C) Any other

    Grant

    Ibra, Giroud

    Pickford, Holebas, Amat, Anichebe

As a Hazard & Costa owner, that missed peno last night was brutal. If only Hazard had still been on, taken it & scored - wow!

On the upside my H2H had Costa (c) vs my Sanchez (c), but he also had Mignolet (peno save) in goals. I still think it worked out in my favour by around 7/8pts?

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

      Costa(c): 6pts
      Migno drops to 2-3pts

Hazard scoring would get you 8pts more I guess plus Costa's 3points.

Probably you would have got 5 more pts if I didnt missed anything else...

      1. Jafooli
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

Yeah but in H2H he got 8pts (Mignolet), where as if Costa (c) had scored the peno, he'd have got an extra 8pts?

        2pts playing, 4pts goals, 2pts baps?

Really need another two/four teams playing in GW28 over the current six with guaranteed fixtures. Ideally Spurs (which is a possibility - London derby and Spurs involved in Europa), and therefore Palace also. Not sure any other ties are likely to end in defeat to PL teams?

When is the fifth round of FA Cup as that is when we'll likely know, correct?

I am thinking about it differently.

Chelsea, Spurs, United and City all have tricky away games against Championship opponents. The latter three also have European competition to affect selection and will doubtless use some rotation.

I therefore expect that there will be 4 games on in GW28 and possibly even 5. I couldn't tell you which one(s) but I don't need to. The trick will be to arrive in GW26 with 2 FTs and to wait for the FAC5 results before using them.

The one FT I will use before then will probably be a tweak for a Swansea (Fernández/Naughton) or Hull (Robertson) defender to replace Pieters in my rotation.

Many thanks Ruth, all good advice...I'm also looking at a Swan def for 28 (and 25 & 27 both good fixtures), but might also consider Robertson......to paly 26 & 28.....

Morning dzzz, a low TV is proving to be a hindrance...2ft and 0.7m

    Heaton -- Grant
Valencia Holebas Mcauly -- Smith Robertson
Philips Alli Sanchez Pogba -- Fletch
    Kane Ibra Giroud

    A: Fletch + Giroud >> T.Carroll + Lukaku...can then bring in brunt later
    B: Pogba + Giroud >> Siggy + Lukaku...siggy versus city tho
C: something else? how many players are optimum (without ruining ones team) for gw28 if only 3 games go ahead...currently have 5 players

Appears to have been quite boring overall. Grosicki to Hull is a good signing.

Thoughts on Holgate or Funes Mori as cheap Everton D? Have Baines but want to double up and can't afford Coleman.

Holgate at 4.2 seems amazing value. Could chip in with an assist or two as well.

FM is good from set-pieces, and nailed no matter what the formation. Go him over Holgate imo.

If Holgate continue to start, him otherwise Funes is safer pick

Feels susceptible to rotation but might be a worthwhile risk if you have a good squad already.

I'm not mate, I just made a bit of a blunder with my transfer this week in bringing Coutinho in for Hazard. I did that early because I knew Hazard's value would drop and the plan was to free cash to get Ibra for Lukaku but I changed my mind and stuck with Lukaku. Will keep them both this week for Hull then ditch one.

Pick someone to bring in and play:

    a) Stanislas > Zaha

    b) Origi > Carroll

    c) Koscielny > Coleman

    C) Cedric
    D) Giroud

Depends on your money but I would say that Amat and Anichibe won't play and Giroud is likely to be on bench. I'd sell Giroud because of his price and fixture this weekend.

Have 5.5 ITB. Yeah Giroud -> Lukaku is on my mind. Not sure if its worth to do Amat -> Coleman for a hit

That looks a good change. If you have a strong enough defence you could wait another week for Coleman but that looks to be good changes.
