After a disappointing Tuesday evening, we’ve high hopes for the three remaining matches in Gameweek 23.

West Ham and Man City get us up and running at 7.45pm as the pair go head-to-head at the London Stadium.

The major news is that the fit-again Sergio Aguero is only named on the bench for City as Gabriel Jesus is afforded his first league start up top. Pep Guardiola also drops Claudio Bravo and hands Willy Caballero a chance between the posts.

With fixtures on their schedule in Gameweek 26 and 28, the in-form Hammers are of keen interest to Fantasy managers, with the likes of Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio offered the chance to stake a claim for our plans this evening. New signing Robert Snodgrass warms the bench, though Jose Fonte is fast-tracked into the first XI by Slaven Bilic.

Man United entertain Hull and Stoke welcome Everton to the bet365 in the pair of 8pm encounters.

With Alexis Sanchez managing just an assist against Watford and both Diego Costa and Harry Kane serving up blanks, the stage looks set for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to produce the goods at Old Trafford.

The United frontman was the top captaincy choice for Gameweek 23, with 22.9% handing him the armband at home to a Tigers outfit that have conceded more goals away from home than any other side.

Everton, meanwhile, have been subject to considerable investment on the back of five wins and a draw in the last seven rounds of fixtures.

Similar to West Ham, upcoming matches in Gameweek 26 and 28 boost the Toffees’ appeal, with many keeping an eye on Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku as we plan ahead to deal with the inevitable cup postponements.

    Grant Pickford*
    Alonso Walker McAuley Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Alli Lallana Phillips Stanislas
    Ibra Kane Anichebe*

    2FT, £3m in the bank

Want Coleman - which defender to ship? Holebas was my option, but he has a good fixture next...

I transferred Holebas out in the end, but Amat was my other option. Wasn't comfortable with having too much budget tied up in a 5th defender that could go towards replacing Anichebe or Pickford.

Based off my last post good GW28 players to look at are:

    Goalkeepers: Jakupovic (3.9), Robles (4.7)
    Defenders: M. Dawson (4.4), Mawson (4.5), Funes Mori (4.6), Brunt (5.0), Baines (5.6), Coleman (5.6)
    Midfielders: Markovic (5.4), Narsingh (5.5), Snodgrass (5.7), Phillips (5.9), Antonio (7.0), Sigurdsson (7.2)
    Forwards: Carroll (6.3), Rondon (6.8), Lukaku (9.6)

    Anyone else to add?

Maguire/Robertson look good too from Hull's defence. Maybe Grosicki, depending on how he settled in. Tom Carroll too as a cheap enabler, if you're wanting to bench Ibra/Sanchez.

Llorente worth a shout, maybe Fonte and Randolph

Fonte a bit pricey considering West Ham's returns but Randolph is an option

Decent price and attacking threat. Went with M. Dawson as the main one to have but if you need that extra 0.1M he could be a great option.

      Llorente

Randolph over Robles all day long, cheaper and you won't be using an Everton spot that week for a keeper. Llorente too, infinitely better option than rondon. Holgate should still be in there as well as a super cheap option.

      1. Lallana_
        • 12 Years

Trust that West Ham defence? I was going to put Llorente but I feel Sigurdsson and Llorente double up could be a bit much. I guess that applies to Rondon too though so maybe I should not have listed him as most will go Phillips (or already own him).

My starting 10 will likely be:

      Jakupovic
      Baines, Coleman, Brunt
      Antonio Sigurdsson, Stanislas, Philips
      Carroll, Lukaku

Lots of rebuilding to do afterwards

I think so. For one thing I need to do something different coz I'm far behind. And also it'll take just 2FT to have a decent team again (eg bringing in Cout & Mane), then 1 or 2 more to fine tune, and then it's the WC.. These players generally have good fixtures in the GWs following 28, and I can field a decent team each week with the bench I currently have too, I checked.

I plan to have Ibra, Alli and Rose on my bench, but that could be Ibra, Alli and Cedric if Rose is out for a while

Absolutely worth it in my opinion a chance with good planning to get at least 9 probably 10 players out and steal a march on the competition. I will have alonso, Ali, Sanchez and ibra on the bench 28 as well all to come back in the following week. Gw29 team no transfers let alone hits looks like this
            Grant (CHE)/jak (eve)
            Alonso(sto) baines + Coleman(HU)
            San(wba) Ali(SOU) sig(bmth) Antonio(LEI)
            Ibra(mid) luk(HU) llorente(bmth)

Not a bad lineup at all even with no transfers. Why wouldn't you do that and get 10 out for gw28?

            1. Deulofail
              • 10 Years
              9 years, 3 months ago

Yeah it's almost a no-brainer if you can do it. My team would look something like this for GW29 (though I have unused FTs running up to GW29 still unused in my tentative plan)

Baines + Coleman (HUL) / Rose (SOU)
Antonio (LEI) / Siggy (bou) / Alli (SOU) / Stanislas (SWA)
Carroll (LEI) / Ibra (mid) / Lukaku (HUL)

              Rose....we'll see

Ashley Williams 5.0 and Harry MCGuire 4.4 have good attacking threat.

Holgate too if no gametime risk.

Same boat. And still smarting from that late goal last GW that cost Grant some big time points. I think I have had a few clean sheets at best at that position this season. Been rough. I shall remember this season as the one where owning Heaton was a huge differential. This game is ridiculous sometimes.

Jakupovic has had bizarre fpl price thresholds. He dropped to 3.9 at about 772.k ownership (just prior to gw17), but only risen again at about 900.k ownership - despite never being flagged.

    Morning DZ, whatcha reckon?

    A) Save FT
    B) Rose -> Baines/Coleman
    C) Amat -> Holgate
    D) Something else

With Stones keeping a cleanie (and perhaps a starting spot for SWA) and Valencia as decent back up from the bench, perhaps I can ride out a short term Rose injury?

    Cech
    Rose, Stones, Nyom
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Alli, Sterling
    Ibra, Benteke, Carroll

    Pickford, Capoue, Valencia, Amat

Does anyone have any experience in a head-to-head league with a knockout stage?

My main league moved to a head-to-head format this season, and I've just found out that it will have a knockout stage at the end. The FPL rules say that the league can have a knockout stage over up to 3 Gameweeks (it will be three as it's a 16 team league) do decide the league winner.

Does anyone know how your knockout stage opponents are selected? Is is 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th etc, then the highest ranking team continuing to play the lowest ranking team, or is it random like a cup draw?

Amat, Alonso, Jones, Walker, Funes Mori.
    Phillips, Sanchez, Whelan, Lallana, Eriksen.
    Kane, Ibra, Giroud.
    2ft's, 0.0m

    What would u do?

    1. Lukaku + Snodgrass (or other 6.3
    2. Costa + Zaha (or other 5.5M)
    3. Carroll + Siggy (leaving 2.4M)
    4. Other combo- who?

Worried that they both have blank GW's though.

25 points and overall rank of over 3.9m. Didn't drop too far down overall rankings though.

Evans owners holding? Would like Brunt but I do not like sideways moves. Of course Brunt is better but I'd rather keep my FT and 0.6M.

I think a Hull defender or Jaku could be pretty essential from GW 26 onwards. Marco SIlva has them well drilled and organised. Great value there IMO.

I'm thinking Dawson (4.4) offers a good goal threat

Getting Maguire for GW 26 for sure. Guy is on some free kicks and is aerial threat. He likes to go forward a lot also.

Yeah but surely one of the new signings will take the free kicks and Dawson is the greater corner threat for me

Robertson looked great, one moment especially, won a tackle deep in defence, ran the pitch and played a nice ball in, class act.

Naturally his points were on my bench this week, but what do we think about John Stones as an option following his cleanie last night?

4.7m for a MCY defender at home to SWA next. Got to start him right?

Will he start though? Kompany and Otamendi will be preferred pair I guess?

Unless Mata does something extraordinary, he is going to be sold in the summer. Missed 2 absolute sitters now in back to back league games.
