A breathless afternoon delivering goals and points aplenty now turns to White Hart Lane to provide a fitting climax.

A match that could have huge bearing on our Gameweeks, it features Spurs striker Harry Kane burdened by more than 484,000 (11.2%) captains armbands, including 26 of the top 100 Fantasy Premier League managers.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli heads into the clash with Middlesbrough backed by more than 188,000 managers and, following Romelu Lukaku’s devastating haul against Bournemouth, the pressure will be on the pair to deliver for their owners.

Aitor Karanka’s men will be no pushovers: they have allowed just 12 goals in 11 away trips, with only Spurs and Chelsea boasting a superior defensive record away from home.

    Does anyone think the premier league would benefit from h2h record over goal difference counting, ie la liga?

    Was wondering this before and watching the Spurs game got me thinking about it again.

    Middlesbrough obviously had a game plan to try keep it tight, not a real surprise away from home against a good side. But just thinking that they probably weren't overly bothered by taking a 1-0 loss as not to much damage was done to the goal difference.

    Spurs as a h2h probably wouldn't factor so getting beat 1-0 or 4-0 is basically the same. But at least with that in mind, they could have had a real go and maybe got something knowing if they get picked off, they lost having a go without doing extra damage to their league position.

      If ain't broken but then don't fix it, I don't watch La Liga much (bar big matches from time to time) but from what I've been told they have the problem of teams not bothering at the end of the season because they've already lost head to head twice to their rivals. Goal difference makes it more exciting in the latter stages.

        interesting point.

        Not sure I would agree with it tho, the points are still there to be played for so unless they are down, I don't see where meaningless games would arise. All the h2h record means is the team with the advantage effectively has a .5 over them. End of the season is not much different here if a team is behind with a minus 15 goal difference.

        I think it would improve the league, games would likely improve for the better which can't be a bad thing.

        I like my American sports and do enjoy the playoffs. Think they work well in the formats of regional leagues.

        In a straight league, the best team over the course deserves to win imo. Just thinking it would improve more games than it would ruin.

        I understand it isn't likely to happen, just interested to see if people thing it would improve or lessen the quality of games served up.

      I think a 2-1 or a 2-0 palace result was very likely .
      A 1-0 or 1-1 too was equally likely but there were highly minimal chances of a Sunderland victory .

      Interesting, can't see Walker and rose being changed. I'm sure Mark used to talk about the mids playing in the 3 behind the striker basically having a position of their own. Think you have to just treat them as oop.
