Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Aguero was awful last night, made to look brilliant by some very shoddy keeping and defending; plus he looked slow and lethargic with the ball at his feet. I don't see whats suddenly made him a prime asset?, or is it clinging on to old memories, more notably his 25 pointer dgw last year.

they only prospered because Monaco made it an open game. Go back to 10 behind the ball and city wont be able to break down Sunderland and Stoke

I don't 'want' to either (just recently sold him), but given potential, opposition, team attacking form, jesus injury etc vs some of the mediocre gw28 options just to field a team seems pretty silly not to.

      And again, I suppose

If awful gets you 2 goals and an assist, god forbid he has a good game. And talking of shoddy defending, you couldn't pick a better DGW than Sunderland and Stoke

So yeah, makes sense to get him in for a couple of awful games against shoddy defences 🙂

but how shoddy are the defences? They'll put 10 behind the ball and that will be hard to break down. Monaco was the perfect opponent for them, even Pep said it himself

    Repost***
Surely Costa should outscore Ibra over the next 2 GWS (26 & 27)?

By doing Ibra > Costa this week, I free up enough cash for Lukaku/non playing 5th mid/non playing 3rd striker > Aguero/Sterling/Crouch.

If City don't get the doubles then I'd swap Costa back to Ibra for 27. Good moves?

I have been playing 442 formation, hence benched 5th mid and 3rd striker.

    Thanks

Yeah know that but... 😀 Have to ditch Sanchez or Ibra and decided to ditch Sanchez. Is there better options?

Over Mane. I can afford him but I think Firmino will be the man. Can't sniff at an OOP Firmino with Coutinho in the team feeding him.

Leicester. You'll feel pretty stupid after watching another boring Juventus 1-0 victory instead of watching Leicesters glorious road to champions league glory.

If TC'ing Kun you'll have to sit through two Sanchez DGWs AND a 3rd DWG or him having a TGW... 🙂

Is that any different to watching all those TC Sanchez and Aguero last year while holding on for Andy Carroll/Payet TC?

Any other Andy Carroll owners in the house? Had been a cheap route for me with two nice 26+28 games (Watford, Bournemouth) but new news of his injury today.

Holding or selling? Am likely to sell with GW27 vs Chelsea his likely next game back, even though he does have a GW28 fixture...

Was planning on benching in gw27 anyways, so I'm either keeping in case he's back for gw28 or finding a way to Aguero

Not confirmed 100% out but hasn't trained in 10 days so unlkely to play against Watford.

May force my hand into Sanchez / Carroll (neither playing in 26) for free to Mane / Kane.

And then evaluate GW27 with no City assets after that.

If the last 4-5 GWs of Man City mean anything in the PL......

...surely Sterling is the better option than Kun for DGW?

Full quotes from Bilic on Andy Carroll:

“He is in good form. The only thing about him is that now he is a little bit injured and he didn’t train for ten days. That is a big blow for us but, saying that, he is going to be back very soon."

Looks like I'm playing Pieters away to Spurs this gw

I may sell Carroll, provides a route to Aguero GW27 for me.

Carroll injury problems too much for 6M if he will be out 26, vs Chelsea in 27, and first good fixture at Bournemouth in 28.

    Sanchez, ibra to Firmino, lukaku
    Gw 27
    Phillips to sterling

    Problem solved 🙂

Boy, wasn't that a cat amongst the pigeons? Had everything sorted in my head for the next 4 GW''s then, BOOM.. DGW from nowhere. Not sure Aguero is avoidable now, those 2 fixtures look absolutely unmissable for the TC. I'd say a few may convince themselves that Sanchez/Ibra may be worth keeping that for but I'll not be missing this opportunity, looking very much like the season maker/breaker.
