Dugout Discussion – Watford vs West Ham United

Gameweek 26 rolls on with an “unfashionable” evening encounter that pairs Watford with West Ham at Vicarage Road.

From a Fantasy perspective, this serves as a scouting mission of the Hammers assets ahead of potential investment for the Gameweek 28 blanks.

Slaven Bilic’s side are just one of eight teams that are currently guaranteed to play over that weekend and, as such, are elevated in our thinking ahead of this encounter.

Andy Carroll is again an absentee as he continues to struggle with a groin complaint, leaving Michail Antonio to lead the attack for the visitors. He’ll be under the microscope, along with Robert Snodgrass who tucks into the number 10 role against the Hornets.

For the home side, Fantasy interest is limited given their forthcoming blank, although promising fixtures to follow has us monitoring the continued form of Troy Deeney and M’Baye Niang.

    Probably a stupid question but - Phillips hamstring + scan in 4 days. Can we assume anything in terms of severity/recovery of current pain and/or injury?
    i.e. are such scans often a precautionary thing, or generally about narrowing down a definite problem?

    Starting at an OR of around 500,000 - I used the ownership tactic again in the last 8 GWs:

    6 green arrows: 249,000 OR rank rise
    2 red: 20,000 OR drop

    Net rank: 229,000 rise

    The tactic is a bit risky during the blanks, it's harder to know and figure out ownership and everyone will have different plans.
    These numbers include this GW where I got a red and a 5,000 OR drop. The week isn't over and I still have Mane and Kane to play so it could still be a green to make it 7/8 greens.

      I understand the principal, but how exactly do you go about using the ownership tactic? Do you just choose the most owned players or is there more to it than that?

        It's balancing the higher owned and lesser owned players. If you only get the higher owned players you'd pretty much stay at around the same rank or even drop rank. But if you have good differentials along with the higher owned players to cover base - it can help you climb up

      Leave your WC til the main DGW's later in the season... Just go max -4 from now until GW28, getting in guaranteed players for it... It's only the one BGW, have to bear in mind, most people are in the same boat remember! Be diligent

    284k to 204k. Keeping the steady rise going. Change in strategy to patience has paid off recently. Was going to do PVA to Baines but decided to hold. Anyone else got some success with patience recently?

    Next week 4 point hit likely to bring in Stones/Sterling/Aguero (stones enabler to get sterling instead of Sane). Roll on DGW.

      Macauley has not really been one that has needed patience but definitely my best long-term pick at the minute. Also think Hazard has been underrated around these parts recently and has actually been ticking over fairly nicely. Returns in 6 of the last 9 games isn't bad

        Agree with the Haz comment but most have had Sanchez. But for the blank in 28 he'd be a much more popular option.

        I've wanted to do McAuley to Brunt for weeks.

    Had Coleman early, in gw 7,8,9. He gave (2+1+0) = 3
    Shipped out.

    Baines scored (6+7+15=28) in gw 18-20 while Coleman scored (1+6+1=7)

    Shipped in Baines obviously.
    Since 21-27:
    Coleman scored- 55
    Baines scored - 27

    FML!!!
