Gameweek 26 concludes at the home of the champions for a match-up which became a very different proposition only late last week with news of Claudio Ranieri’s departure.

The Foxes now hand the reins to caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare in a bid to halt a dismal run that has seen them lose all of their last five, with not a single goal scored in the six.

On paper, this seems a formality for Liverpool, then, although Jurgen Klopp’s men will surely be anticipating a reaction both from the team and the vociferous Foxes faithful tonight.

Nonetheless, the Reds arrive in buoyant mood. They come fresh from a fine 2-0 victory over Spurs back in Gameweek 25, a match that saw Sadio Mane emerge as a two-goal hero and a Fantasy hot property ever since.

Mane has been involved in 17 goals (scoring 11, assisting 6) – more than any other Liverpool player and is backed by more than 366,000 new owners, with over 113,000 FPL managers handing the Senegalese the captaincy.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Defoe dropping was costing me 0.1, I think it's worth the risk as I don't see Aguero start v the 'udders.

I was initially but after reading/listening to others on here (see ht) maybe (c) on its own may be good enough with like ownership and Sanchez/Kane/Ibra to play DGW.

    team is as follows

    Jaku/Mannone

    Walker/Williams/McAuley/Maguire/Love
    Hazard/Mane/Eriksen/Snodders/Phillips
    Ibra/Kane/Crouch

1 FT and a Wildcard left. An eye on GW28 i'm getting 7/8 players providing guys like Maguire and Phillips recover. Do I bank the FT and use 2 next week to get Lukaku and Siggy in and still for GW28. Use one to move someone out this week and another next week?

Crouch needs to go and you need some City imo, come up with a few options I'd say. I certainly wouldn't be saving in your case this week.

Any long term Eriksen owners? I am considering getting rid this week and sucking up the value I lose on him. This then allows me to bring Alli in rather than Eriksen when the time comes round for a Spurs mid. Eriksen has done brilliantly for me but I don't think it can last. Anyone else having similar thoughts?

It seems to me that Alli is more vulnerable to formation changes affecting his output than Eriksen, and given the number of injuries Spurs have starting to pile up I would stick with Erik.

Don't see the logic in that, Erikson is probably a better long term option than Alli.

        In reply to all above...

My logic is that Eriksen has been great chalking up the assists but Alli's goalthreat is obviously slightly more than Eriksen's.

That run of Form Alli went through wasn't by sheer luck, I reckon he'll start chipping in with more and more goals. With Eriksen he only does well if Kane/Alli do well (For the most part), so why not have Kane/Alli to reduce that risk? Actually seems worth doubling up on that logic.

His assists at the weekend were well lucky, especially the second one. Saying that he keeps picking the points up fairly consistently.

I think his assists are lucky in the same way that Alli's goals are lucky.

They both by tickets to the lottery and every now and again get a win.

Alli runs into the box so often that sometimes a cross will come in on a plate.

Eriksen is on set pieces and puts so many balls in that it's almost guaranteed he will get assists.

Lethal at dead balls, spurs are usually a threat from set pieces, Kane/eriksen combo is the way forward for most of the season personally

On that logic, ignoring the fixture this week he should've been out of your team this week?

    Aguero > Lakaku

That's a tough one, I've always told myself never bench an expensive defender, always seems to come back to bite you.

But Burnley find it so hard to score away from home and Mawson is a big threat himself. What's the rest of your team like? Probably bench Coleman.

How many points would you require from Aguero in total for you to even consider TC?

For me its minimum 25 points over two games incl bonus which is 75 in total.

Unfortunately we can't predict how many points he's going to get, but yeah I think following for TC:

      25+ = Amazing
      20-25 = Excellent
      15-20 = Good
      10-15 = Ok
      5-10 = Poor
Lower than 5 (which I got last year) = Total fail

Ouch. Also I'd say 20+ is amazing from a triple captain. 15 you can get in one week. 20 is a freak score in a normal GW (Well not this season).

            1. Sess!
              • 15 Years
              8 years, 9 months ago

Well yeah, like I said above 20+ is excellent and that's a good way to look at it, i.e. 20pts in one gw is usually a rarity. Those who TC'd Aguero/Sanchez in the first dgw last year dined out on 25pts (x3) so I think the bar has been set.

    3. Bellerinmondo
      • 11 Years

It's relative though. So question imo should be is he a better option than Sanchez or ibra later in the season

      That sounds about right.

      Which means
      Play 2 games: 4 points
      4 - 5 goals: 16-20 points
Bonus: 1-5 points (over 2 games)
      Assists will be additional gravy

You cannot say "minimum 25 Points", 25 is a fantastic score. I would be veryy happy with a brace and a goal, adding up to something like 13 points in the first match, 6 points in the 2nd = 19 points.

Last year I TC'ed Payet and I think he got 13, which was OK. I agree with Sess here on the whole.

I'm doing Alli (8.4) > Sterling (-4) fwiw Sess, we can always get Eriksen then as I wonder is he the better longterm option.

Well I'd prob do Alli > Steling (gw27) > Cout/Firm (gw28) then back to a spurs mid. Lots of transfers for one spot. I wonder whether the points will be there to warrant it?

For record I prefer Alli to eriksen but they're very close in terms of points, so good chance either one can cover the other.

Ha ha, I was just thinking all this planning for gw28 is in danger of backfiring. So much emphasis on one gw, when if we had the right players in that blanked (like Kane this weekend), good chance they can more than cover points of missing one GW.

Another here doing Costa & Alli to Kun & Sterling. Likely do Sterling to Coutinho in gw28.

Got Alli at 8.2 but need to make moves in a couple cash ML so need to make moves. Now's the time!

If it's a free transfer I'd do it anyways but play Baines.

Leicester are an unknown at the moment and have been ok at home all season. I wouldn't bring in a player to play against them (not again, anyways).

What is actually wrong at Liverpool?is it the coaching methods, the effects of the high pressing game?the lack of squad depth?how can they make Spurs look like they had never played the sport before to two weeks later(with no European or fa cup exertions in between)performing so abjectly?its almost as if they think it's beneath them to play teams who are beneath them.i don't get it .they will beat arsenal then struggle against burnley.its a hot and cold streak I've not seen from any other team in football and it's been going on for years .

The way Klopp get's the players fired up. When it's a big game it's convincing, against the Burnley's of this world, does he bother? Or is it all a bit too ridiculous?

Up to the players to get fired up for every game. They must see it as an easy game and take the foot off the pedal.

Although they really need to splash some cash and bring in some quality this summer, said it last summer as well. Overall they have pretty average players bar Mane, Coutinho and Firmino.

Klopp's High pressing style worked well at Bundesliga because Dortmund had a Great squad depth back then and they also get a Winter Break in Bundesliga.
'Pool needs to increase their squad depth asap in summer if they qualify for CL.

Players aren't as good as they are made out to be. Klopp got a lot more out of them than most expected, and it's all collapsed rather predictably. Mignolet, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Lucas, Milner, Henderson and Lallana simply aren't top quality. You could probably get away with Clyne and Matip if the rest of the defence was actually good. Klopp has been far too loyal to these players in my opinion, and that's his fault.

You could suggest that he is doing the best with what he has got. Winning the league with that defence is a real stretch, but at least he has them playing exciting aggressive football.

But has he real options in terms of 'better' replacements?
Personally I don't think so, just even take that bench last night, imho it was terrible, no one there really to change a game.
Like I said above I think they've overachieved somewhat but if I were a pool fan I'd be reasonably happy and see it 'as work in progress'

Agreed. He got a lot more out of them than he should have. But the front 3 bailed out the defence for large parts of the season. What I find very frustrating is that Klopp has put his personal fall out with Sakho ahead of the good of the team. The rest, you're right. No squad depth or options.

Agree, Sakho is terrible. Cannot hold an offside trap and thus has to resort to last second tackles, who of course look great when he pulls them off but he is a liability for any team.

          2. greghammer95
            • 16 Years
            8 years, 9 months ago

I think he's dealt with Sakho in the best way possible. Not entirely sure what happened but if there's an unhappy player in the dressing room (a key player of course), it will rub off on the team.

Look at West Ham, Payet had been unhappy most of the season, you could see in his body language that he didn't want to be there and he was a moany bugger all season. Once he's out of the team our performance's picked up. Was surprised we managed to do so I won't lie (given confidence etc).

Now admittedly Payet was a bigger player to West Ham than Sakho is to Liverpool, hence why Klopp's dropped him, having said that though you're in desperate need of a defender so I see the argument. Still, Happy dressing room > 1 player.

I do agree with that, but given our defensive options, I think Klopp should've either built bridges or signed a new CB. Not having Sakho/not signing a replacement is a poor decision.

No squad depth is an issue ,getting the most out of the players ,fine.but it doesn't explain how good they are against the top sides.in that group of 6 Liverpool are top of the table.Like what would have happened if that same Leiscter side came out at halftime in the Spurs match, could Liverpool go on as before ?

I think both, if you can get away with it with minimal hits.

I am planning to bring in Kun and Sterling for GW27 if their DGW is confirmed (-4). Against Stoke and @ Sunderland, I think there is a good chance of reaping huge dividends. IF they play both games.

And then do 3 transfers (-8) for GW28 to field 11 players. Or maybe just 2 transfers (-4) and field 10. Will decide after GW27. True, there is a limited slate of games, but 3x Eve (v WBA), 2x Swa (@ Hul), 3x Liv (v Bur), 1x Bou (v Wes) and 1x Wes (@ Bou) sounds like a reasonable chance of points to me.

Ok lads. How has Aguero actually looked in the last two games? (bou, MON)

    A) A bit like Harry Kane, a couple of goals but any decent striker should score, not doing much else.
    B) A bit like the old Aguero, goals, dangerous runs, lots of shots, etc. etc.
    C) Carlton Cole? Scored two off his back and has the turning circle of a 40ft Lorry.
    D) Other...Please specify...

Haven't been able to watch either game. Reason being I'm seriously considering the triple captain this week, looking at the fixtures and Ibra's potential DGW's don't look all that, having said that I think Ibra is probably better off with slightly tougher fixtures. Sanchez is the other one, his don't look great either, not sure I'm convinced in captaining him in a couple of (what should be) nice home games. Surely he'll lose interest by the end of the season too? Obviously all of this is speculation and we also have Chelsea to throw in the mix too with a Watford home game falling in a DGW (Hopefully), when they're pushing to wrap up the title.

    Anyways, Aguero, how's he looked? A, B, C or D?

    1. Smoky Johnson

      A) He has been unlucky with red sent off and injury, now that both jesus and nacho are on the side line, and with 2 goals + 1 assist vs Monaco...stoke and sunderland could/likely end in fireworks. 3-5 goals + 1-2 assist. = 25-30 points x 3.

I'm thinking the same. The two defence's at this moment in time are awful. Maybe you want to catch them before they tighten up?

Bit different, we're getting him in before the brace(s).

Also, is everyone living in the Aguero of last season DGW past.

In any past season, I think close to 100% of active players would have jumped to get Kun (C) in somehow for any MC DGW

Ibra, Kane, and Lukaku up front.

Who the hell do I drop for Kun?

At the minute I can get 8 players out for GW28. Loathe to have to spend a transfer bringing Lukaku back in but the other two are on fire and have home fixtures GW27.

Difficult decision - the Lukaku hokey-cokey seems the best option if all goes smoothly, but a couple of injuries to other players and that would be a couple of transfers you would have probably wanted to do elsewhere in hindsight.

If DGW Kane to Aguero, then bring in Llorente for Aguero for GW28, then bring back Kane for Llorente for GW29 - back to the same front 3 forwards

I've found a really dullard move for my team. Means I can keep Eriksen. (Pending DGW)

    GW27 - 2 FT's.
    Lukaku to Aguero
    Puncheon to Tom Davies.

    GW28 - 1 FT
    Aguero to Lukaku.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Will Davies play ? Do you have Tom Carroll ?

Started 6 out of the last 7 so I'm confident in that. Bit concerned he got taken off on 69 minutes last game but I presume it was when pushing for a goal?

Tom Carroll might be the better option for my team too, I have 3 WBA and 2 Everton already so at least puts someone in a different game in 28.

        Thanks!

Carrol and Davies are excellent cheap attacking (ish) 5th mids to have. It may actually be worth having both (as the 4th / 5th mid they rotate home and away) to allow funds for Ibra, Kane, Costa/Lukaku and Sanchez ? May look into that

Interesting. With Phillips being injured and coming to the end of the fixtures I wanted him for it might be worth doing. With the likes of Zaha/Snodgrass also not doing much. Only thing is I'd like to have a cheapie that has a DGW, wildcard could do that though.

If Man City win vs. Huddersfield, how long will it take the Premier League to officially announce the City vs Stoke fixture is to be played on Weds 8 March?
Remember that the FPL GW27 deadline is 11:30 on Sat 4 March.

At the moment I don't think there has yet been any *official* word from the Premier League about rescheduling games. This is because the FA Cup tie has not yet been completed.

City vs Stoke could yet end up in GW28.
Or could be pushed back later in the season.

Both clubs have confirmed, seems pretty certain. Imagine official PL announcement will come the next day.

        Thanks.
Hope FPL are slow in tweeting about the extra game!
That's if City win, of course.
