Wednesday night’s 5-1 rout of Huddersfield Town booked Manchester City’s place in the FA Cup quarter-finals and created this season’s first double Gameweek.

With a trip to Sunderland and home tie against Stoke City falling in Gameweek 27, Pep Guardiola’s troops will inevitably dominate our transfer activity and latest Captain Poll.

Sergio Aguero (12.7) will surely be the favourite for the summit after a brace against The Terriers brought his tally to four over the last two matches.

With no competition from the injured Gabriel Jesus and high praise from his manager after last night’s display, our rotation fears surrounding the marksman have been somewhat dampened. Aguero has gained more than 39,000 new owners in just the last 24 hours, with an overnight price rise seemingly inevitable.

Aguero’s captaincy credentials are boosted further by the fragility of the Stoke and Sunderland defences.

No side has conceded more shots in the box than the Black Cats over the last four matches and only Swansea City have been breached more often at home.

After shipping four away to Spurs, the Potters’ visit to the Etihad looks another mouth-watering prospect for City’s attack.

Indeed, the Gameweek 27 profit could be spread far and wide, ensuring that Aguero has rivals for the armband within the City ranks.

Raheem Sterling (7.8) and Leroy Sane (7.5), who have been Guardiola’s preferred wing partnership over the last four league matches, both present strong CV’s for the captaincy role.

Sterling may only boast a single double-digit haul over his last 20 outings, but the wide man has been a beacon of consistency, with attacking returns in eight of the last ten Gameweeks.

Sane is also a man in form, having notched a goal and two assists in his last four league outings and claiming the opener in Wednesday’s win.
So far, 10,000+ FPL managers have drafted in Sane in the last 24 hours, with over 30,000 falling for Sterling’s charms.

As the designated penalty taker for City, Yaya Toure (7.3) has also been added to the poll as an option; a mere 1.1% of FPL managers currently own the Ivorian.

Toure was rested for last night’s encounter and it remains to be seen if Guardiola considers him for the back-to-back Gameweek 27 fixtures. The midfielder’s absence would, presumably, bolster Aguero’s appeal as he assumes duties from the spot.

We perhaps shouldn’t ignore Stoke City as a factor in the Gameweek 27 picture. A home tie with Middlesbrough should attract some attention for their assets, while Mark Hughes will feel that his side can trouble an erratic City defence that again conceded in Wednesday’s tie.

Stoke’s immediate opponents Middlesbrough have lost three of their last four away league fixtures, which makes Potters midfielders Joe Allen (5.1) and 0.9% owned Marko Arnautovic (7.1) intriguing differential options for the armband.

No Stoke player has had more shots on target than Arnautovic over their last four league encounters, while Allen’s six goals make him their top scorer this term.

Peter Crouch (4.9) and Saido Berahino (6.0) are other Potters options, but their prospects are hindered by the possibility that they will likely be vying for just one striker position.

We have also included a series of options for consideration among players with just a single match in Gameweek 27.

Certainly, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.5) will be the big hope for those refusing to invest in Aguero and his City team-mates.

Ibrahimovic has delivered at least a goal or an assist in eight of his last ten Gameweeks and takes on a Bournemouth side at Old Trafford that has conceded 17 goals over their last six outings, more than any other side.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini (6.7) is another striker in form.

He has fired five goals in three matches since joining the St Mary’s ranks from Napoli in January. A visit to Watford offers the Italian a platform to maintain such form: the Hornets have kept just a single clean sheet in their last six league Gameweeks.

Swansea City’s protagonist Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.6) is also included, with opponents Burnley continuing to toil on the road ahead of their visit to the Liberty Stadium. Sigurdsson’s assist against Chelsea last weekend means he has delivered attacking returns in six of his seven starts under head coach Paul Clement.

The Captain Poll is now live in the middle column on your homepage on desktop, or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet under recent comments.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll on Friday when we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering an analysis of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

    I see that most people are planning to go for Sanchez or Ibra for TC later if they decide not go for Aguero.
    Am i the only one who is thinking to wait and go for Kane instead?
    Is it possible that Spurs will have any DGW or not?

        Thank you!
        So, if Spurs will have DGW, one opponent will be Man Utd.
        Also, as i can see in another tweet, possible opponents on DGW for big teams are:

        MUN -> BUR+MCI
        CHE -> WBA+WAT
        MCI -> LEI+WBA
        MUN -> TOT+SOT
        TOT -> MUN+CPL.

        Now, i am more close to play Aguero TC this week. I don't see any other pair of fixtures from the above that is more convincing.

          Kun is the safest in terms of that we know already who he is going to face. Zlatan, Kane, Sanchez maybe in terms of form and pedigree this season though, but unknown fixtures and injury situation when the time comes.

            Personally, i am evaluating who has more potential to score many points in a single week. I think the order(from more to less chance) is like this:
            1) Aguero/Kane
            2) Sanchez
            3) Ibra

          if any of these teams reach the FA Cup Semi's will that make another possible DGW for them?

          Side note - TOT v MNU is the last ever game at WHL so Kane & co will be bang up for it, I wouldn't assume this is a bad fixture for Kane

            MUN has the 3rd best defense in total. Considering the possibility that both teams will be fighting for Champions and Europa League, i don't think MUN will be an easy opponent.

              and Only Chelsea have scored more goals at Home than Spurs.

              CL places could be wrapped up by then and United could have an FA cup or/and Europa final to prepare for too?

              Just as much chance that they will rest players for this game.

          Same for all of Sanchez, Ibra & Aguero I suppose but Ibra rarely breaks a sweat and has others to do his running for him - he is like a machine that never fatigues ?

    Struggling on what to do. 1 FT, 2.6M ITB.

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Robertson Evans Baines Cedric
    Eriksen Snodgrass Alli Mane Phillips
    Ibrahimovic (C) Rondon Lukaku

    Players I'd want to get rid of: Cedric, Alli, Eriksen and perhaps Ibrahimovic
    Players I'm interested in: Sigurdsson (no blank next GW), Sterling, De Bruyne, Aguero, Stones

    Best move Eriksen>De Bruyne (C)?

    Looking fwd to GW28, what would you do here?

    A) Save FT
    B) Sterling -> Siggy
    C) Sterling -> King

    Already have 11 starters for GW28 and A) & C) mean I can get Sanchez & Kane for free in GW29. B) means I'd need to take a hit.

    GRANT
    STONES, Baines, Brunt
    STERLING, Eriksen, Mane, Firmino, Snoddy
    AGUERO, Lukaku

    Jaku, Robertson, Mori, Barnes
    Bank 0.0m, 1FT (for next week)

    Is there any positives in ditching Lukaku over Costa for Aguero?

    I don't fancy Lukaku scoring this weekend. But If Costa grabbed 2 goals this weekend and Lukaku blanked, would it pay off using a FT to get Lukaku back for GW28?

    Does this make sense to anyone or just me haha

    Still very confused on GW27 plans..

    A) Defoe, Eriksen, Alli -> Aguero (TC), Sterling, King (-8)

    B) Defoe, Eriksen, Alli, Alonso -> Aguero (TC), Sterling, Sane, Mawson (-12)

    Only ways I can get double/triple City without getting rid of Lukaku, Ibrahimovic or Mane. Chasing big time so tempted to go for the triple City option, if I go with A I'm likely to have 6/8 same front 8 as my main rival. I'm going to have 11 in 28 (-4) either way so this doesn't affect those plans, is it madness to get rid of Alonso only to get him on WC29 for £0.3 more?

      Don't worry about losing value at this stage, unless you can't get him back in. Worry about losing points due to hits though trying to get players back and sort out other issues.

        If you're making a hit to bring in Mawson, and then a future hit to bring back Alonso, you're relying on the Sane, Mawson combo scoring over 8 points more than Alonso and Erickson over the next two gameweeks. could do, but if Alonso gets in the points this week, it could cost you.

        1. Carpe Diem
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 5 days ago

          Not relying on a future hit for Alonso as WC29, Mawson is an enabler for triple City and does the job for 28 too.

      2. Carpe Diem
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 5 days ago

        Poor TV (£102.9) so slightly worried, but should be able to get him in as WCing. Points wise it boils down to, over the next two GWs..

        A) King (mun), King (WHU), Alonso (whu)

        B) Mawson (BUR), Mawson (hul), Sane (sun, STO) -4

        B does seem more tempting on paper, just worried about another Alonso 21 pointer away.. surely not?

          For what it's worth, I've the same dilemma and keeping Alonso, as will want him for after this debacle and saving WC for a little later. Bringing in King for Alli and just swapping out Defoe for Aguero. Hits could well work but it's pulling my carefully engineered team apart.

          I'm going to hate it though if King blanks and Sterling and Sane go mental.

            Cheers for the help. I've got a 62 point ground to make up in my ML so tempted to go for the punt with triple City, considering if I go double the only two differences in mine and my main rival's front 8 will be King/Fraser and fodder.

    Choose one for DGW. Already have Aguero and exact funds for Silva.
    a) Silva
    b) Sterling
