Manchester City finally book their place in the FA Cup quarter finals as they hit five for the second match running and confirm their double Gameweek 27.

Man City 5 Huddersfield 1

A Sergio Aguero brace and fine performances from Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane broke a spirited Huddersfield at the second time of asking.

It also sparked an overnight rush to buy into the consequent double Gameweek for City, who travel to Sunderland at the weekend before entertaining Stoke City next Wednesday.

Aguero leapt from ninth to fifth for players purchased with more than 36,000 swooping in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Sterling rose to second (from fourth) with over 28,000 investing overnight. Both John Stones and Sane also enjoyed an increase in transfers among Fantasy managers keen to exploit the short-term appeal of Pep Guardiola’s players.

And short-term it is. A blank Gameweek 28 will follow, with Liverpool at home and away matches at Arsenal and Chelsea to come after that.

The victory over Huddersfield was a very City performance – at times irresistible in attack, often incoherent in defence.

The recalled Claudio Bravo looked like a man giving up goalkeeping for Lent when he dived over a Huddersfield shot to give the visitors a shock early lead.

But when Sane equalised from a Sterling assist and Aguero scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Nicolas Otamendi, the tie was only ever going to end one way.

A Pablo Zabaleta tap-in from an Aguero cut-back before the break confirmed the primacy of their attack, although the visitors still had good chances either side of half-time as City’s defence once again failed to impress.

Sterling set up Aguero for his second and substitutes Kelechi Iheanacho and Jesus Navas combined to round off the scoring at the death as a tired Huddersfield finally capitulated.

Aguero (12.7) now has four goals and three assists from his last four starts in all competitions and his high price is clearly not an issue for some Fantasy managers.

Guardiola was certainly keen to talk him up post-match.

“It’s the best Sergio Aguero ever. Today the performance was amazing. The runs were at the right moment and the right tempo. His performance was top.”

Sterling, however, is looking particularly consistent – he has either scored or assisted in his last six matches in all competitions – and his 7.8 price tag is rather more easily afforded by those with less cash to splash.

Let’s also not forget Sane, though, whose opener took his tally to four goals and three assists in his last seven starts across all competitions. Setting you back 7.5 and with 1% ownership, the German looks well set to emerge as an enticing differential for the double.

Manchester City X: Bravo, Zabaleta, Stones, Otamendi, Clichy, Fernandinho, Sane (Navas 81), De Bruyne (Delph 75), Garcia, Sterling, Agüero (Iheanacho 79).
Subs not used: Caballero, Sagna, Fernando, Silva.

    don't 3 City Players GW 27 compensate a lack of 3 players GW28 ?

Yes. The only advantage to a GW28er is that you have an extra FT between now and then, so you can bring them in for free and you're already four points up.

the one you captain more than compensates because you effectively have 4 players from him alone.

Yes, but Man City are a better team with better fixtures than teams that play in 27 and 28, plus there's the extra captaincy boost. You don't really want to be taking out players that play in GW28 for Man City players though, ideally.

To some extent yes, I went for 2 City and 11 players in week 28 as i think that will have the biggest impact on my overall rank.

        So with

        Grant
        Alonso Coleman Brunt
        Siggy Mane Phillips Pedro
        Ibra Lukaku Costa

        Pickford Yoshida Holebas De Roon

        Shall I do
        a. Costa + Mane + Phillips > Kun Sterling Sané
        b. Costa + Lukaku + De Roon > Kun Llorente Sterling
        c. Costa > Kun

I need PJones not to fall another 0.1 this week, and TCarroll & Robertson not to rise.

They are on -95.9, 96.5 and 97.2 respectively.

Is it worth just pulling the trigger on one of them now? They are going to be my two transfers next week so one will be for a hit anyway - I guess it doesn't matter too much about taking the hit this week versus next, I just don't want to risk an injury that could scupper everything this weekend.

must be misremembering then. in fairness four years ago I was still at school and probably would've hard teamed by now. I guess the chips make them that bit more important now as well.

Few years ago there was many games around Xmas that got called off for bad weather that resulted in some great DGWS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but there may have been a triple gw for a team one season. Sunderland mayb?

Need some thoughts on these transfers please! Option A is probably better to bring in King, but Option B would allow me to keep Antonio for his good fixtures in GW 28 and 29. In both cases I would have nine players for GW 28 (before transfers in that week). Sterling --> Sigurdsson would be the most obvious move probably.

    A) Alli, Antonio, Carroll --> Sterling, King, Aguero (-8)

    B) Alli, Phillips, Carroll --> Sané, Fraser, Aguero (-8)

    Heaton
    Alonso, Coleman, Baines, McAuley, Amat
    Mané, Alli, Antonio, Phillips, Fletcher
    Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Carroll

I've only gone and taken a -12. Oh my, what have I done?

    Phillips to Siggy
    Lukaku to Aguero (TC)
    Alli to Sterling (VTC)
    Hazard to Sane

Just to make people feel better about their -4's and -8's!

Got to have a bit of fun in this game sometimes! 🙂

I did Phillips, Alli, Eriksen & Defoe to King, Siggy, Sterling & Aguero for -12.
Hopefully it will work out better than the -32 over 3 weeks earlier on in the season.
