The first double Gameweek of the Premier League season, involving Manchester City and Stoke, starts this weekend and understandably dominated the community’s thoughts throughout the week.

For our community scribes, the best candidates to trust with the armband or Triple Captain chip were the key issues to consider.

However, many of our hot topic posters were in more cautious mood, with rotation fears and impending blank fixtures coming under discussion.

The statistics of City’s midfield stars take centre stage in our look at the latest Members Table.

We finish off with a look at those who will be looking to extend their lead at the top of our community leagues by ensuring they take advantage of Gameweek 27’s extra matches.

The Community Articles

To mark the first double Gameweek of the season, YMA has tweaked his regular look at what the form and fixture data says about the captaincy, to only focus on players that have two matches.

For those looking to use their Triple Captain chip on a Manchester City assets Bash Villa has been taking a look ahead to the future double Gameweeks to see if this source of extra points could be better exploited later in the campaign.

Elsewhere, TopMarx‘s latest assessement of the Hall of Fame top 5 reveals that double Gameweek fever has gripped this elite group, with even their most hit-shy member keen to spend points.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With two goals against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, a brace against Monaco in the Champions League last week and matches against Sunderland and Stoke, Sergio Aguero certainly has form and fixtures on his side heading into the double Gameweek.

For Sharp Shuffle, drafting in the Argentine is not in doubt, instead the real issue is which heavy-hitting striker makes way in our squads.

But as our hot topic on the City striker’s triple captaincy credentials showed, there are still some lingering concerns surrounding his reliability as an armband option, given Pep Guardiola’s penchant for teamsheet tinkering.

This threat of rotation among the City ranks was also something that KTK Interista discussed in his chatter on Aguero.

Following on from a request from Viperstripes for further discussion of Manchester City midfielders, Mark duly obliged: his hot topic focused on which of their wingers, Raheem Sterling or Leroy Sane, provides the most potential, and also asked whether we should go all out and pair them up.

To round off our look at Guardiola’s troops, we also conducted a roll call of which of their players you intend to own in Gameweek 27 and whether you’re throwing the Triple Captain chip the way of their star striker.

There is a sting in the tail for those stocking up on City and Stoke assets, as a week later they and tne other teams miss out due to FA Cup Quarter Final commitments.

Our discussion on double and blank Gameweeks considered how best to tackle these changes to the fixture schedule.

Liverpool are among just eight teams with a match in Gameweek 28, but a 3-1 defeat to relegation battling Leicester City on Monday has left many wondering if the Reds can recapture early season form.

Finally, judging by some of the downbeat responses to our Rough with the Smooth round-up, the double Gameweek can’t come soon enough: there are certainly a number managers in need of a stellar score to revitalise their season.

The Members Tables

To offer further analysis on Manchester City, Watp73 has created this table looking at the best midfielders to target based on data from the last six weeks.

Elsewhere, Twisted Saltergater has honed in specifically on Sane and Sterling, to reveal which has the most impressive statistics over the last four.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season league has a new leader after a Harry Kane armband helped James Bird earn a score of 87 in Gameweek 26.

But there’s no change at the top of Red Lightning’s January to May league, which Dan Clapson continues to dominate.

Ogie Nolan has regained the lead in the FFScout Members league from Billy Ketsu, while Arutla Jatin retains first place in our main league.

Arutla is still second in the overall standings but is now 47 points behind leader Knut Hebaek, who was another to captain Kane.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Ephurion hit the top score in Gameweek 24 with 96. There are now 427 teams left after 61 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 47.

TorresMagic has regained the lead in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league, with a six point gap over second placed Mark.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Ok, so, In the ML I am 3rd. I am 20 points behind second and 50 behind first - both of which don't have any city players.

I went all in for a -8 with Sane, Aguero and Sterling no the question is, do I have the balls to TC aguero?

Reckon those 3 alone and normal captain on Aguero will do it? Or go all ALL in and go for it?

Pep is a troll Aguero could easily get a knock but it's bloody tempting!

Yeah you've got to do it in that situation. Too good of an opportunity. Plenty are doing it on here and there's plenty of upside. If it fails, you've still got 3 City players that they don't...

    Aguero owners triple captain him?
According to Bash Villa's article and my thought the other two choices for using triple captain are a)Sanchez in DGW32 vs cpl & lei 75%,b)Ibra in DGW35 vs SWA & sou 75%.Both options include more difficult fixtures than Kun's,both options are not sure they'll happen. Also both fixtures for Sanchez are against teams will have relegation fight.Man utd propably will reach the quarter final of the Europa League so the above potential dgw has a lot of chances imo.But when we have a dgw27 for Kun with better fixtures,Kun in a good form,Man city in a good form and compare these 3 options i think Kun's option its the safer and likely more productive. The main risk that can make this choice unsafe and not likely more productice is Pep.I think its worth to take that risk.

The clear rotation risk is the big issue. Sanchez will play 90 minutes of both games and will be on pens - Ibra and Costa too.

There is a big risk that Kun will be benched against Stoke imo

Because of the FA Cup - Pep played the majority of his best attacking players at home to a Championship side - why wont he do the same away to a Premier League side? It is his best chance of silverware.

I don't think Kun will be benched against Stoke cause they know Stoke have a solid team and wants effort to take the 3 points.

there is risks around every pick going forwards.

sanchez, for instance his form. Secondly he might not be playing up front with giroud starting up top which also means he won't be on pens

Ibra might not play both at his age later on in the season especially if they are in europa leagues

haz/costa could be rested if title race is over

Kane might be a good pick but which gw will his dgw fixtures fall in? If it's the one with arsenal then no

I think even Sanchez playing from the left is deadly tbh - he is the major reason not to TC Aguero (along with Kun's rotation risk). Or if Chelsea happen to get knocked out the cup, leaving them with a wonderful double GW34.

So i'm thinking Lukaku > Aguero for gw27 and the opposite for gw 28 which would effectively mean:
    4 x Aguero -4 points or
Ibra + Lukaku + 1 extra ft (potentially for gw 28, would have 8 playing as it stands)

    1. Captain Blanks
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I would be captaining Ibra gw 27 for scenario 2 btw which would effectively mean i'd get 1 extra match from him

        • 10 Years

getting rid of lukaku before gw28 is a shocking move. lose ft, an additional potential -4, just a bad move.

Yep it would mean either an extra -4 or 1 less saved transfer (there's not really many players i'd be looking at just for the sake of gw 28)

Had similar thoughts but if somehow Ibra fails to deliver, it'll be a long week...

Aguero might outscore Luka by 8pts, that hit could be worth it i guess

The FT is equal to a hit (since you might need a transfer later down the road and might be forced into a hit). Only with 2FTs the first you make counts as "nothing" imo (if you don't use it you lose it).

So 4x Kun -8 vs Ibra + Kaku

All the talk about price rises (which seem strangely static tonight) pale in significance to the pure adversion to hits. This is the season of hits. The general FFS community seem against hits wheres this season they have proved a game changer. The utter crap I have seen posted advising against a Sane, Sterling, Aguero triple up for a -8 is tbh embarrassing

likewise. surely its all about maxinising the gw ahead and if that involves a -4 so be it.

Some of the hits being taken this week, even for City mids, is silly.
Bringing in Sane for a hit, to take him out again for a hit, is asking an awful lot for a rotation risk. Especially when the player removed is a consistent scorer like Eriksen or Alli.
