After a five month long winter break the new season of Norwegian’s top flight football kicked off with a bang with two Gameweeks within a few days.

With Gameweek 3 starting on Saturday there is little respite for the clubs, and more importantly, us Fantasy managers. Gameweek 2 saw a lot of frustration as key assets were either benched or taken off early with the tight schedule in mind.

FFScout League Standings

The FFS community has shown an overwhelming interest for this fringe league, with 476 already having entered the FFScout main league (3769-1041).

On top with 135 points we find Norwegian Red (Oieiao) – perhaps fittingly – an Englishman.

In the FFScout  H2H league 16 managers have won both their matchups, with Ned Ryerson and Riski Virksomhet being joint top thanks to their superior points tally. Ned Ryerson features again on top of Phil Dagger’s Last Man Standing.

Stock Check

Ahead of looking at the risers and fallers from the two Gameweeks so far it is worth checking out Goktugerce‘s excellent statistical review of the first two Gameweeks, looking at team statistics, average positions and expected goals & assists. Meanwhile, Niemi took an in depth look at the good and bad players so far in every position.

Rising

Vegar Hedenstad (6.5) – Two clean sheets and an assist. On some set pieces.

Mike Jensen (10.5) – Two assists. Easy on the eye, which means he will be a favourite of ‘the man in the stand’. Already has 4 bonus points.

Milan Jevtovic (7.6) – A goal and an assist. A possible injury to Elbasan Rashani means Jevtovic could be nailed on going forward.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.5) – Two goals. The Dane is yet to find the groove but nonetheless has managed to find the back of the net in both games. Will score a lot of goals purely because of the sheer amount of chances Rosenborg create every game.

Sigurd Rosted (5.6) – Two goals. Not only is he a massive threat from set pieces, Sarpsborg play 4 out of their next 6 fixtures at home. Last season they kept an impressive 9 clean sheets in 15 games at home.

Patrick Mortensen (6.6) – Two goals and an assist. Sarpsborg have scored the joint most goals so far and the fixtures are favourable.

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) – Dubbed ’Siggy of Eliteserien’ by some of the FFS posters, Koomson showed some of his potential by scoring a penalty in GW2. The top assister from last season is yet to assist this campaign but that looks like a matter of time.

Bendik Bye (5.5) – Two goals and an assist. After a potential season ending injury for strike parter Ole Sveen, Bye should have done enough to nail down a permanent starting place.

Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) – A goal and an assist. 4 bonus points already, including full points in a game his team lost.

Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0) – Two goals and two assists. Incredible form and value.

Frederik Gytkjær (7.5) – Three goals. Mistaken for his brother who was the league’s top scorer last season, a lot of casuals have enjoyed the early investment of the younger Gytkjær.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.0) – Hat-trick in the first home game. 3 of the next 4 fixtures are at home.

Marco Tagbajumi (7.6) – Two goals. Going somewhat under the radar compared to his expensive strike partner Marcus Pedersen. Favourable fixtures.

Jylian Ryerson (4.5) – One goal. Listed as a cheap defender, Ryerson has played both games in an advanced midfield position. Will probably drop a bit deeper once Adegbenro is back. Ryerson is a jack of all trades and due to Viking’s extremely thin squad we could hope to see him OOP for longer parts of the season.

Falling

Ghayas Zahid (10.5) – Tipped by many to be in contention for player of the year, Zahid has nothing to show for so far. Consistent returns are vital for players with a premium price tag. Does however face the bottom team at home in GW3 so those patient enough to keep could finally be rewarded.

Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.4) – An impressive pre season was followed by an anonymous opening GW before being ruled out for GW2 with an injury. Is very injury prone.

Lars Vilsvik (6.0) – Viewed as a full back with big attacking threat, the only thing Vilsvik has produced so far is an own goal. The fixtures are however still good.

Rafik Zekhnini (8.5) & Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0) – Although the former registered an assist after coming on as a sub, he was benched due poor work ethic in the previous match. The latter is yet to return attacking points.

Samuel Adegbenro (7.5) – After missing the first game through illness, Adegbenro returned to training ahead of GW2. But he missed the second game as well, and now await four of the toughest games Viking will play all season.

Gameweek 3 Picks

Scoring the winner in his debut game, Bård Finne (9.1) will look to continue his good home form when Vålerenga welcome the bottom team Sandefjord. With Abdellaoue being a doubt for Sunday, Finne might benefit from a central striker role.

When it comes to attempts, midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) is second only to Bendik Bye with 4 shots per game. The Nigerian will certainly fancy his chances at home against what currently is the joint worst defence in the league.

Marco Tagbajuni (7.6) is on top for average xG (expected goals) per shot. Although a small sample size, this suggests he has so far been on the right place at the right time. Up against a shambolic Aalesund defence, the rather budget friendly striker could potentially even be trusted with the armband.

Omo still got an extra assist, Mos got an extra assist, Brustad (I think) got an extra assist, Sigurdarson andYhrandarspn should have an extra assist. Hope they fix this soon as an Sigurdarson owner

Are they going to fix those mistakes for sure? I got neither of them but hopefully removing Omo's assist moves me into higher position.

They should. If they don't there is no point in playing this game. It's not doubtful decisions, it's plaing wrong.

They should. Ohi shouldn't get an assist to his own goal. Brustad and Mos got an assist without being involved.

They changed some decision in GW1, although they did before the gameweek ended

Time seems to have moved on, maybe that is it now and points are fixed. It all seems a bit random on a few issues - points, bonuses, price rises

Suggestions for what to do for my two free transfers?

    A) Get a premium goalkeeper (who?) and save a transfer
    B) Sell one of the Rosenborg mids and Pedersen to get Bendner
    C) other suggestions for one or both of the FTs?

Yeah I've been eyeing their goalie but got more pressing fires to put out. If you don't fancy Vilsvik then I would get him out for Rolantsson. Vilsvik has nice fixtures coming up though. Idk, just some food for thought.

I wouldn't do that. Sure, he'll get some points, but he just had a 11 points haul and can't see him get that many times in the future. Hedenstad have scored the same amount and Jensen/Helland 2 points less.

The team that looked great a week ago looks not so flash now... Priorities?
    2FT
    1.5 ITB
    Dyngeland / Fernandes
Hedenstad Ruud Vilsvik / Ryerson Moe
Midtsjo Koomson Trondsen Sigurdarson / Njie
    Occean Bendtner Shuaibu

Don't like Siggy in there, Koomson has been a bit of a let down so far tbh, Occean hasn't exactly scintillated, Njie hasn't been getting me much (bench point king :P) and Bendtner is annoying me. I mean, not going to let go of him, but he *is* annoying me. What to do?
Tempted by Siggy>Riku + Occean>Tagbajumi and maybe after that even a -4 Njie>Svendsen. Would like Svendsen back in after that game even though a bit of a knee jerky move. Happy with my defence except for the GK problem but not wanting to spend a FT on it so soon and anyway don't really know much about any GK alternatives yet. Thoughts?

I'm holding Siggy for 1 more week, just because fixture could be worse & not sure who else to buy.
Think Njie's pretty good for a 5th mid. Considering him in for Valles.
Bendtner - yep annoying but another week at least for him too.

Omo's appealing but I'd have to lose Shuaibu/Mortensen, and this doesn't seem week to do it.

      Yes.

It basically says that normally, Points will be finalized within 1 hour of the last game of the gameweek.

However, in GW4 there were obvious doubtful situations, as well as a few mistakes. FEL highlights that this is an extraordinary situation.

They have thus asked OPTA to go through the stats one more time. Until this is done, no autosubs will be filled in and the GW is not finished.

TLDR; The points from GW 4 is not finalized, points may be added or subtracted and autosubs will be added.

It's only Tuesday I can sense a massive headache looming over this GW.

CRY face Spurs and Liv, would it be worth to take a hit to get Zaha or Tekkers in?
The only way I can get Ibra in is by swapping him for Kaku, honestly feel the later is better candidate for the armband this GW.
For now, the only viable option is Gibson for me.

    Confusion, confusion...

Not sure what should be my priority before next GW

    A) Replace one of Fernandes/Dyngeland. Janukiewicz seems to be nailed on and is a bargain at 4.0. Some question marks over Strømsgodset defence, but they are one of the better teams and should keep some clean sheets. Sandefjord and Kristiansund in the next 2 as well.

    B) Replace Albech with Ryerson (most likely). Won't start Ryerson this week anyway, so might wait.

I think my team looks pretty good, but I might pull the trigger on my WC next GW depending on how Bendtner/Jevtovic/Helland/Jensen/Midsjø performs. Not sure if I got the right RBK players. Also feel like I have picked the wrong GKs and might have to find a space for Ohi. Not convinced Rolantsson is nailed on long term either, pretty anonymous last night. Got some doubt around Matthew and Koomson as well, but no clear alternatives right now.

    1. Niemi
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

I am actually tempted to do something like this on a WC (depending on how next week goes of course):

Janukiewicz - McDermott (rotates fairly well too)
      Ruud - Rolantsson - Gabrielsen - Ryerson - Moe
      Helland - Jensen - Jevtovic - Svendsen - Njie
      Sigurdarson - Ohi - Shuaibu

All out Rosenborg midfield. Of course I have to see how next GW goes, but looks like there is a lot more value in midfield than in Bendtner. Might get Midtsjø over Jensen if I need funds as well.

Some doubts about Rolantsson and Gabrielsen at the back. Not 100% sold on the GK duo either, but should get a decent amount of clean sheets in their home matches and cost 8.0 combined. Triple Stabæk might be to much, but Njie and Moe will be benched a lot.

      1. MTPockets
        9 years, 2 months ago

The obvious flaw will be day(s) Rosenborg don't score. Given how few RBK are conceding, Def + 2 mids seems a better consistent pick over 3 Mids right now. I like Ohi + Shuaibu; great value. Moe & Njie too. Svendsen seems to be living up to recommendations by you guys pre-season. Not sure on rest of defence - seems a choice has to be made in this game so far between likelihood of clean sheets vs attacking potential. I don't have a handle on that.

        1. Niemi
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

That's true. They haven't looked free scoring so far, so maybe it's for the best to keep Hedenstad in there. Two midfielders definitely seems better than owning Bendtner and a midfielder. Glad I have at least another week to decide.

I feel like Ruud, Ryerson and Moe is essential on a WC (Ryerson OOP/value, Moe value/set pieces). Hedenstad too if I don't go with triple RBK midfield (which doesn't seem to smart as you say). Probably won't go with Gabrielsen if I get Hedenstad because of the rotation threat at Molde. Svendsen and Sigurdarsson seems pretty much nailed on though.

Albech's fixture ok if he's fit, so I'm hoping to postpone. Don't know enough about keepers to give informed comment really, but Fernandes on my fix list along with Albech, Utvik, Valles, A.Sigurdarson, maybe Bendtner...

      1. Niemi
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

Albech is fit as he played 90 minutes for Sarpsborg reserves one week ago, but not in the squad. Could have been injured again though? Not sure.

Just a few comments on your guys: There are few better options than Utvik at 4.5 except for Ryerson IMO (and Moe if you don't own him). Valles was always a 4.5 bench fodder. I haven't seen the match or seen anything else than the goals, but reading the text commentary from the Tromsø match and looking at the stats A. Sigurdarson had a lot of shots and a few big chances. He actually had 8 (!) shots against Odd, 5 inside the box, 4 on target. Got a feeling he's due to a haul. With no clear alternatives I'd keep another week (although I got rid before this GW myself).

        1. MTPockets
          9 years, 2 months ago

Think A. Sigurdarson had similar reviews last week - shame he's not converting that to points. Another one with a fixture that can probably wait then.
Have Moe & played him with Albech out. Valles was indeed fodder, but after selling Zahid and money ITB think I'll upgrade him to Njie for a better squad. That will likely be my dull transfer, or GK.

            • 11 Years

True. Yeah, it's kind of worrying he's not converting his chances to points. I'd wait if you have more pressing issues. Keeper and Albech definitely bigger worries at the moment I'd say.

Personally I would have Sigurdarson from Molde in there. Not too keen on double Sarpsborg. Njie the best 5th midfielder pick at 5.5. I predict he'll score more points than Trondsen over the season.

Ryerson a must at 4.5 over Utvik. He's playing in midfield and a much better pick than Utvik long term. Also consider Janukiewicz over McDermott. Strømsgodset a much better team than Kristiansund, although some concerns over their defence. Both 4.0 so I still rate Janukiewicz as a better pick.

Hard to predict who's the best players to get from Rosenborg, but Helland, Jensen and Hedenstad should do well.

Thanks for feedback. Downgraded Helland to Midtsjø to be able to afford sigurdarson for shuiabu. Must say i agree attack was a bit week. Not sure if i should have shipped omo instead but kind of hard to boot a guy with two hattricks.

Keeping Trondsen for the moment AS he seem to be in good form. Risku on standby if Trondsen not performing. Njie in for risku cause i needed the funds.

It's a bit unpredictable though. If you don't have Bendtner I would have at least one out of Jevtovic and Helland. I'm pretty sure they will get at least as many points as Midtsjø and Jensen if they play every match. They seems nailed enough (and injury free) at the moment. Just my personal opinion though.

I'd prefer Shuaibu over Mortensen as well (due to value), but if you don't need the extra cash I guess Mortensen is expected to score at least the same amount of points.

    Hey Niemi any thoughts?
    2FT
    1.5 ITB
    Dyngeland / Fernandes
Hedenstad Ruud Vilsvik / Ryerson Moe
Midtsjo Koomson Trondsen Sigurdarson / Njie
    Occean Bendtner Shuaibu

Was thinking maybe Siggy>Riku and Occean>Tagbajumi, and maybe even Svendsen in for Trondsen or Njie... Probably not take the hit though because both options for that move look like they could be doing well in the next few. Ignoring the dodgy GK combo for now although eventually it will need to be addressed. The problem is that it's all so unpredictable...

Team looks good. Don't sell Njie! Scored well so far and good underlying stats.

I would prefer to sell either Sigurdarson or get another GK

Rosted is a CB so I think they will play Østli instead of him.

Has anyone noticed how Strømsgodset and Vålerenga have four home games in their next five? Molde and Strømsgodset have four from GW7 onwards, and Brann has five home games between GW8 and GW13 (unless I've counted wrong somewhere).

Does anyone know if this is common in Eliteserien? I can't remember ever seeing this happen in the PL (usually a 3:2 ratio, never only one away game in five games). This could potentially be a great way to identify your next transfer. For the first four gameweeks, home teams have done way better than away teams, so this could possibly have a big impact in this league.

    Home teams:
Have scored an average of 2.01 goals
Have conceded an average of 0.99 goals
Have gotten an average of 2.16 points in their games

    Away teams:
Have scored an avereage of 0.90 goals
Have conceded an average of 2.03 goals
Have gotten an average of 0.72 points in their games

Noticed that all games against Odd where at home, fixed that now, and no teams ever have more than three home games in a set of five straight games, so just scratch what I first said..

Home games have still performed better though. Something to keep an eye on.

      PL this season in comparison:

      Home teams
      1.63 goals for
      1.20 goals against
      1.72 points

      Away teams
      1.20 goals for
      1.62 goals against.
      1.06 points

        ..and Eliteserien last year:

        Home teams
        1.56 goals for
        1.16 goals against
        1.61 points

        Away teams
        1.16 goals for
        1.56 goals against.
        1.13 points

Not that much to it then perhaps.. Sorry for taking up your time..

Still have Bendtner for the moment - one last chance, but don't know what I'd do if wildcarding today. Otherwise:

Odd haven't won away yet, so not sure about 5.5m GK when 3 in next 5 are away.
          Wangberg vs. Rolantsson.
          Which RBK mid(s).
Mos away at Rosenborg is off-putting right now.

Had mos for a couple of weeks now so will keep for time being. Had got rid of lord b as seems to be more value in midfield but does look like it's tricky to pick which ones. Thanks for your comments though, will have a think.

Terrible round (30pts), worse than it should be due to Rosted's red... keen on selling him before too much price loss, suggestions for FT? 0,3 itb

    Leciejewski
    Ryerson Ruud Hedenstad
    Jevtovic Koomson Matthew Haugen
    Tagbajumi Bendtner Mortensen

    Fernandes Njie Moe Rosted

My major doubts in this squad is Matthew, Koomson and Lord Has-Been... Thinking of going Bendtner -> Shuaibu this round, then getting Helland or Midtsjø next.

My forwards do have plum fixtures next round, so tempted to wait it out... suggestions? Thanks, guys!

I think he will play most, but could be benched a couple of times. Very dependent on performances. Braaten did MOTM last match, so probably between Vega and Rolantsson for the other wing position right now. Could play RB though when he's not a winger.

    1) Get rid of Lukaku
    2) Get rid of Sanchez
    3) Get rid of Alonso (for Chambers)
    4) Don't bother with Ibra

Just read that Makani wants to leave Strømsgodset and return to Iran because his dad is sick. Probably means Janukiewicz (4.0) is nailed on until Bugge Pettersen returns from injury. He got injured March 21st and expected to be back in 3 months (end of June-ish)

Tagbajumi is one yellow from suspension so be wary of that. Just Moa and Z out for me. I would get someone from Molde, Sigurdarson or Svendsen, for sure.

Just be wary of Molde's bad away record against Haugesund. They always struggle there, but Haugesunds seems shaky at the back this year.

I'd bring in Sigurdarson for Moa and Riski for Zekhnini. No need for a hit. Shuaibu>Moa next GW if you can afford him or upgrade Johansen for the remaining funds.

Although you COULD always WC as GKs, Zekhnini, Johansen and Moa a problem. Rosted worth selling with a suspension and then Rosenborg coming up, also worth considering getting Bendtner out and getting Helland in midfield instead (this is still up for debate, but looks like it's worth it based on the last few matches).
