After a five month long winter break the new season of Norwegian’s top flight football kicked off with a bang with two Gameweeks within a few days.

With Gameweek 3 starting on Saturday there is little respite for the clubs, and more importantly, us Fantasy managers. Gameweek 2 saw a lot of frustration as key assets were either benched or taken off early with the tight schedule in mind.

FFScout League Standings

The FFS community has shown an overwhelming interest for this fringe league, with 476 already having entered the FFScout main league (3769-1041).

On top with 135 points we find Norwegian Red (Oieiao) – perhaps fittingly – an Englishman.

In the FFScout  H2H league 16 managers have won both their matchups, with Ned Ryerson and Riski Virksomhet being joint top thanks to their superior points tally. Ned Ryerson features again on top of Phil Dagger’s Last Man Standing.

Stock Check

Ahead of looking at the risers and fallers from the two Gameweeks so far it is worth checking out Goktugerce‘s excellent statistical review of the first two Gameweeks, looking at team statistics, average positions and expected goals & assists. Meanwhile, Niemi took an in depth look at the good and bad players so far in every position.

Rising

Vegar Hedenstad (6.5) – Two clean sheets and an assist. On some set pieces.

Mike Jensen (10.5) – Two assists. Easy on the eye, which means he will be a favourite of ‘the man in the stand’. Already has 4 bonus points.

Milan Jevtovic (7.6) – A goal and an assist. A possible injury to Elbasan Rashani means Jevtovic could be nailed on going forward.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.5) – Two goals. The Dane is yet to find the groove but nonetheless has managed to find the back of the net in both games. Will score a lot of goals purely because of the sheer amount of chances Rosenborg create every game.

Sigurd Rosted (5.6) – Two goals. Not only is he a massive threat from set pieces, Sarpsborg play 4 out of their next 6 fixtures at home. Last season they kept an impressive 9 clean sheets in 15 games at home.

Patrick Mortensen (6.6) – Two goals and an assist. Sarpsborg have scored the joint most goals so far and the fixtures are favourable.

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) – Dubbed ’Siggy of Eliteserien’ by some of the FFS posters, Koomson showed some of his potential by scoring a penalty in GW2. The top assister from last season is yet to assist this campaign but that looks like a matter of time.

Bendik Bye (5.5) – Two goals and an assist. After a potential season ending injury for strike parter Ole Sveen, Bye should have done enough to nail down a permanent starting place.

Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) – A goal and an assist. 4 bonus points already, including full points in a game his team lost.

Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0) – Two goals and two assists. Incredible form and value.

Frederik Gytkjær (7.5) – Three goals. Mistaken for his brother who was the league’s top scorer last season, a lot of casuals have enjoyed the early investment of the younger Gytkjær.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.0) – Hat-trick in the first home game. 3 of the next 4 fixtures are at home.

Marco Tagbajumi (7.6) – Two goals. Going somewhat under the radar compared to his expensive strike partner Marcus Pedersen. Favourable fixtures.

Jylian Ryerson (4.5) – One goal. Listed as a cheap defender, Ryerson has played both games in an advanced midfield position. Will probably drop a bit deeper once Adegbenro is back. Ryerson is a jack of all trades and due to Viking’s extremely thin squad we could hope to see him OOP for longer parts of the season.

Falling

Ghayas Zahid (10.5) – Tipped by many to be in contention for player of the year, Zahid has nothing to show for so far. Consistent returns are vital for players with a premium price tag. Does however face the bottom team at home in GW3 so those patient enough to keep could finally be rewarded.

Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.4) – An impressive pre season was followed by an anonymous opening GW before being ruled out for GW2 with an injury. Is very injury prone.

Lars Vilsvik (6.0) – Viewed as a full back with big attacking threat, the only thing Vilsvik has produced so far is an own goal. The fixtures are however still good.

Rafik Zekhnini (8.5) & Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0) – Although the former registered an assist after coming on as a sub, he was benched due poor work ethic in the previous match. The latter is yet to return attacking points.

Samuel Adegbenro (7.5) – After missing the first game through illness, Adegbenro returned to training ahead of GW2. But he missed the second game as well, and now await four of the toughest games Viking will play all season.

Gameweek 3 Picks

Scoring the winner in his debut game, Bård Finne (9.1) will look to continue his good home form when Vålerenga welcome the bottom team Sandefjord. With Abdellaoue being a doubt for Sunday, Finne might benefit from a central striker role.

When it comes to attempts, midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew (6.1) is second only to Bendik Bye with 4 shots per game. The Nigerian will certainly fancy his chances at home against what currently is the joint worst defence in the league.

Marco Tagbajuni (7.6) is on top for average xG (expected goals) per shot. Although a small sample size, this suggests he has so far been on the right place at the right time. Up against a shambolic Aalesund defence, the rather budget friendly striker could potentially even be trusted with the armband.

I am so tempted to play my wildcard right now!

    Janukiewicz - McDermott
    Hedenstad - Ruud - Rolantsson - Ryerson - Moe
    Helland - Jensen/Midtsjø - Svendsen - Riski - Njie
    Sigurdarson - Ohi - XXX

11.9 or 13.9 for the last 2 (depending on Jensen/Midtsjø).

    A) Jensen + Lindberg/Shuaibu
    B) Midtsjø + Tagbajumi

On the other hand I already own Hedenstad, Ruud, Rolantsson, Moe, Midtsjø, Svendsen, Njie, Sigurdarson and Shuaibu. I'm basically selling Bendtner, Koomson, Matthew and maybe Shuaibu for Ohi, Helland, Riski and maybe Tagbajumi. Tagbajumi 1 yellow from suspension also putting me off.

I think you have a good team don't wildcard, just go with A. I can't say which one out of lindberg and shuaibu as I have both!

      Who is Ohi?

Sorry, didn't say it. That's the team I want to get on a WC! Although it's probably too knee jerky as my team doesn't look too bad.

        My current team (got 1FT):

        Dyngeland - Fernandes
        Ruud - Hedenstad - Rolantsson - Albech - Moe
        Svendsen - Midtsjø - Koomson - Matthew - Njie
        Bendtner - Sigurdarson - Shuaibu

        Ohi = Omoijuanfo

        1. MTPockets
          9 years, 2 months ago

Nah. You're basically fixing keepers and rearranging for no-Bendtner. Can do core of that with -8.

Just do one of the keepers to Janukiewicz and one forward to ohi.

      Or Bendtner/Koomson to Ohi/Helland

Yeah, will probably do the former this week. The latter next week possibly depending on the performance of the Rosenborg players. No rush to get Ohi in as he mainly scores at home.

Agree. And the season not really settled, disappointing players can still come good and players who did well in the beginning can get their luck turned. You're so close to a wc team that it's not worth spending it yet.

    Best captain option this week?

    A) M. Pedersen
    B) Omoi
    C) Helland
    D) Lindberg

    1. Niemi
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

Helland 100%. Can't look past any of the Rosenborg front 3. Lindberg not scored good enough yet to warrant a captaincy pick. Ohi not a good fixture, only good at home really. Pedersen could do well, but would certainly not captain him over Helland this week.

Cheers! Also have Midsjø, but agree Helland is the best shot. He's on his way to where he's supposed to be, form wise.

Best moves to improve this squad? Have 2 FT and 2.9 ITB.

    Kristiansen - Fernandes
    Hedenstad - Ruud - Wormgoor - Moe - Albech
    Midtsjø - Nordkvelle - Koomson - Njie - Johansen
    Bendtner - Ohi - Mortensen

I guess the most pressing matters are:
    Albech (injured?)
    Johansen (not nailed bench fodder)
    Fernandes (not nailed on anymore)

    Cheers! 🙂

I'd say Albech to Ryerson and save the other. Eliteserien is pretty random, so give your team another week and monitor other players. As you have Kristiansen I wouldn't rush to sell Fernandes, maybe he's back in the starting XI soon. If not I would get Janukiewicz.

      1. Niemi
        • 11 Years

You could also do Johansen>Riski/Pedersen/Åsen(punty)/Matthew/Trondsen and bench Njie this week to avoid a double up on Stabæk away. Or get Ryerson and start him as he basically is a midfielder with potential CS points.

    Hedenstad Ruud Vilsvik (Albech) (Moe)
    Midtsjo Koomson Jevtovic Matthew (Sorli)
    Mortensen Pedersen Shuaibu

      I'd do one of:
Albech > Ryerson/Rolantsson/Wangberg (and depends on whether you'd even start the transfer in).
      Fernandes > Janukiewicz
Pedersen > Not sure (and fixture ok tbh)

HELP, I'm on my WC and every change I make takes the team into deeper dark waters. Current lineup:

    Leciejewski (Kongshavn)

Rolantsson - Hedenstad - Ruud (Ryerson - Moe)

Jevtovic - Nordkvelle - Braaten - Zachariassen (Olderup Jensen)

    Tagbajumi - Gytkjær - Bendtner

This is a 0-itb setup, rip it appart please, I need to get myself sorted as I'm in the last 3rd rankingwise and that sucks 😀

A few comments; I think Hedenstad, Ruud, Moe, Lecijewski and Jevtovic are good picks. Rolantsson too if he keeps his place.

Upgrade Bendtner or Tagbajumi to Omo. If Bendtner, get Helland perhaps?

I think I would want Svendsen from Molde, he is looking really good and playing very offensively.

Also Njie is great value in the midfield, and I would want Trondsen who is one of the games leading scorers. If this is Daniel Braathen on Your team, he was very Lucky to assist twice in the last game and I wouldn't bet on him continuing his run. So I would shift him out for Trondsen or Njie.

      For example;
      Bendtner > Oho
      Braathen > Helland
      Zachariassen > Trondsen

That should be affordable, no? Who is Olderup Jensen btw? There is so much rotation in this League that having 15 decent starters is advisable.

      1. MrKlin of Norway
        • 9 Years

Olderup Jensen is a budget semi-starter in Odd, price was my trouble so he is more or less a save placeholder until I re-shuffle, not worth having...
        Thx for your input.

Right, advice here and elsewhere has come to these changes, still time for more adjustments though:

      Kongshavn (Leciejewski)

Rolantsson - Hedenstad - Ruud (Ryerson - Moe)

Jevtovic - Riski - Braaten - Zachariassen (Åsen)

      Tagbajumi - Sigurdarson - Bendtner

      again 0 in the bank.

Nordkvelle > Riski and Utvik>Ryerson I think would do that team good.

Sigurdarson a strong contender for Captain this round.

Also, Danish NC in the stands this sunday, so Bendtner may be spurred to show off, outsider captains choice despite his mediocer run so far.

From what I have heard Haugesund is Moldes bogey team, so I guess history tells us not to trust him this round

No way I would captain Sigurdarson this GW. Haugesund are leaky, but they are Moldes bogey team and Molde haven't proved they are a stable team yet. We'll see this GW. Can't look past Bendtner (C) among those players. I would only consider captaining Helland and Tagbajumi over Bendtner this GW.

Tagbajumi best for this GW, I prefer Sigurdarson long term. Don't get Pedersen. Both midfielders got options, but not a must for this GW. I'd say get 1 of the Molde guys and one out of Tagbajumi/Riski.

Not sure if I should start Albech over Rolantsson, Ruud or Matthew. Definitely higher CS chances for Albech, but Rolantsson is OOP and Ruud attacking and on most set pieces. Doesn't feel right benching Matthew in a home game either.

Feels more wrong benching Albech against a poor Kristiansund team though. Hmmm, decisions decisions

I'd play Albech over Rolantsson. Probably best defender fixture vs. Brann away at Lillestrøm (and couldn't score away at Kristiansund). No grass/artificial advantage in either game.

But Rolantson is OOP as a winger against a team that's conceding lots of goals

        1. MTPockets
          9 years, 2 months ago

Guess it depends whether more likely S08 get cs, or Brann score + Rolantsson get G/A.
I'd think the former, but you know a lot more about this.

Who is the best gk for 5 million or less in terms of points, not value? Currently on Kristiansen as S08 had a good amount of cs last year but open to suggestions.

    Leciejewski(Dyngeland)
    Ruud Hedenstad Albech Vilsvik
    Midtsjo Koomson Jevtovic(k) Matthew(Sorli)
    Mortensen Pedersen(Shuaibu)
Not sure whether to play Shuaibu or Matthew
or could upgrade either of those for a hit as I have 5.4 itb

      Goalkeeper is JANUKIEWICZ.

Giving Vilsvik his last chance to show last year's form, against Sandefjord. Captain on Helland.
