An largely uninspired encounter, marked by a moment of brilliance from Emre Can. Liverpool’s 1-0 victory was priceless, from a Fantasy perspective, it was notable only for Philippe Coutinho’s early exit. Here’s the Stock Check from the final match of Gameweek 35.

In Decline

Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian went into Monday’s clash as part of just over a million FPL squads, having been acquired by more than 50,000 new Fantasy Premier League owners ahead of Liverpool’s Vicarage Road visit.

In addition, Coutinho claimed the armband for 122,000 managers who had big expectations having seen the midfielder score in four of his last five Gameweek starts.

But his night lasted less than ten minutes before he suffered a dead leg in a clash with Watford’s Adrian Mariappa; a collision which ultimately led to Coutinho succumbing to the injury on 12 minutes.

His departure saw the re-introduction of Adam Lallana following a five Gameweek absence, but that will have been little consolation for Coutinho’s owners.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed post-match that the injury should not represent a major setback…

“He has a dead leg, hopefully it’s not too serious but of course it’s really painful and no chance [he could continue]. Everybody could see he tried hard, but no chance.”

While he will be expected to be back in contention for the visit of Southampton in Gameweek 36, Coutinho’s single point return at Watford, coupled with any minor doubt of his participation against the Saints, will undoubtedly accelerate sales.

He is already hovering outside the top five for transfers out, with 22,000+ jettisoning Coutinho so far, with traffic moving to both Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard in particular.

Roberto Firmino is not far behind his team-mate and compatriot. He went into the Watford encounter having returned in each of his last five Gameweeks, producing two goals and three assists.

Despite that form, his Monday night blank will exacerbate recent sales, with Firmino already ranked fourth behind Coutinho, Son Heung-min and Wilfried Zaha among FPL midfielders.

Quite simply, with Wildcards active, double Gameweek assets are dominant and despite Liverpool’s obliging run-in, both Coutinho and Firmino look set to become unlikely differentials for those without the option of an end of season refresh.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Im in a H2H league and my lqast match is against AVERAGE. Do you think this is a good or bad thing for GW38? Ibra injury should help lower the collective average just hoping that Capoue and DDG dont have monster scores

    Heaton - Caballero
    Cédric - Alonso - Daniels - Valencia - Mawson
    Son - Sané - Redmond - King - Zaha
    Lukaku - Gabbiadini - Kane

    1.1 itb, 1 FT

    choice :
    1. zaha>pedro but who to bench?
    2. luka>jesus
    3. save FT

Pedro is a rotation risk. Id be finding a way to get hazzard in. You goung without arsenal cover? Luka to Jesus. Valencia to cheapie and use the funds for a big mid hitter.

Haz likely to get man mark every game now.... Pedro can claim 1 spot there after his goal, & cheap to.. Beside i only have 1 ft, & will need a hit to get haz.
Not nailed with any arsenal player, maybe gabriel but i read here that he played badly last match.... Sanchez & ozil the only nailed player IMO but i will expect big haul with their lofty tag.... 🙂

Do you guys think it is mad to go without Chelsea on a Wild card this GW?

My theory is that Chelsea could be champion after the first game of DGW37 and that you could see rotation at chelsea for the remaining Watford and Sunderland game. I think Conte is due some game time to Terry (farewell), Batschuayi (over benched this season), Aké for instance.

I wonder if the best strategy shouldn't be to go for Spurs, Arsenal and City assets who will for sure battle for the UCL qualification spots until the end

      it could really backfire

Conte is not a sentimental man. never was at juve. he will want as many points as possible from the players that got them their to begin with , terry may get mins at end of matches but thats it

Anichebe is capable of scoring goals in good fixtures, but if he doesnt, he should get 4 pts amd the money saved will more than cover Gabbis points given Gabbi's lack of form and minutes

You just can't have Anichebe + Capoue. It is too weak for 3-5-2 and too weak 3-4-3.

Reduced points from BB and no certainty that both will remain benched given the expected amount of rotation in GW38.

Very good question, lots of people seem to think Spurs are gonna carry on banging them in despite the fixtures and potential of nothing to play for in the last two.

For me it's the fear of the damage Kane could do to non-owners, Costa is less scary, though his fixtures are great.

      Cech, Callabero
      Alonso, Vertonghen, Gabriel, Stephens, Yoshida
      Hazard, Sanchez, King, Alli, Capoue
      Kane, Gabbiadini, Jesus

Please help me with this. Who should I bench in 37 BB? Not important but we need to know how our benched players do, right? I'm currently on:

      Callabero, Capoue, Vertonghen, Stephens

        Yeah it's decent enough
You can still fit in maybe Albrighton or Ward Prowse? As Capoue has been doing nothing and has tougher fixtures

Morning all. Any thoughts on this for wc? Using BB gw37. 0.1 ITB

    Pickford / Caballero
    Vert - Alonso - Gabriel - Yoshida - Holgate
    Sanchez - Haz - Eriksen - Sane - King
    Gabi - Kane - Jesus

    Ta!

      It's good
      Just not sure on Gabriel
Can you do Pickford + Vert -> Cech + Stephens? That gives you good cover for Arsenal defense if Gabriel's minutes are uncertain

Thanks, yeah I can do that. So you think Gabriel to Bavies or trippier? Would leave me with 5.3m but no spurs def

Bavies if you really need Spurs defense
          Or might go with Huth?

Been an awful season and I kiow this will be the final nail in the coffin, but I'm going without Sanchez.

    1. Arsenal are awful
    2. Being played out on left
    3. Dropping deeper and deeper.
    4. Expensive so can spread money around better

    will I regret this? possibly!

Top scoring midfielder in the game.

      4 games in 2 weeks.

      Most will captain/triple captain.

Catastrophic if he has decent returns.

Tempted to do exactly the same - fixtures this week just aren't appealing, and he's in poor form.

The captaincy / ownership is very concerning though, I'm on my WC and not sure I'll last the whole week without getting him in...

    A question for strategists.

My ML rival is 31 points behind me. He used his wildcard last week and got Davies and Gabriel.
I am wild-carding this week and I want to nullify his points. I however am doubtful on Davies and Gabriel's starting time. I cannot go for more expensive options like Vetonghen and Monreal because of terrible TV.

Should I pick Davies and Gabriel to counter him?
