Frustration is the only word for it.

In a compelling season that has tested even the most hardened and experienced Fantasy manager, it seems we are destined to be deprived of a truly satisfying double Gameweek.

So often the pillars that hold up our season finale, we speculate and strategise, whipping ourselves into a frenzy as we conjure visions of big individual hauls and three-figure totals.

Inevitably they rarely live up to our expectations but this season’s double Gameweeks feel flatter than ever, with the past 48 hours proving particularly exasperating.

Friday provided an ominous opening, with Chelsea’s victory wrapping up the title race to introduce rotation concerns, while also providing blanks for both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

Mason Holgate’s withdrawal for Everton provided an additional blow for those with the Bench Boost in play – an early marker for Saturday’s misery.

Today’s events included a variety of cruel twists.

Manchester City’s failure to keep a clean sheet, together with Kevin De Bruyne’s blank, provided immediate irritation.

That was followed by Victor Anichebe’s injury and Jordan Pickford’s one-point return, before today’s arch villains – Southampton – provided the coup de grace.

Having shaken off his tinkerman moniker, Saints boss Claude Puel regressed to punish our Bench Boost ambitions with seven changes.

Manolo Gabbiadini and Dusan Tadic were nowhere to be seen, Jack Stephens sat unused on the bench. Then Middleborough played their part, notching an improbable consolation goal to snatch the points from the Southampton assets that remained.

Stoke City’s Peter Crouch then provided a sucker punch, quite literally, to deprive us of an Arsenal clean sheet and apply more salt to today’s wound.

Even this evening’s 12-point contribution from Alexis Sanchez, backed by over 450,000 with the captaincy, was a silver lining that had its cloud, the Chilean limping from the bet365 turf to cast doubt over his start against Sunderland in midweek.

He played on and scored while carrying the knock – an apparent thigh injury, perhaps a dead leg. We now have to hope that Sanchez has the opportunity to run at the Black Cats defence on Tuesday. With him, Gameweek 37 could yet deliver for so many.

Elsewhere today, it was perhaps typical that it was left to a pair of single fixture assets to provide some comfort, Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente and the prolific Josh King of Bournemouth repaying those who kept faith amid the clamour for twin-fixture targets.

The last two days provide a sobering reminder of how we can overplay the potential of a double Gameweek. But we’ll doubtless do it all over again, and also have to remain optimistic on what remains of Gameweek 37.

There are still many fixtures to be played out and, in all likelihood, further unexpected plot twists to come – some of which will hopefully turn more favourably for us Fantasy managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No chance. There are some 10k teams you have to catch by 30-54 points. And those teams are in that top positions for a reason. They're not all going to fail now.

And meanwhile there are thousands of others that you also have to win by 10 points, 20 points etc. There's too much variety in that number of teams, you have to find some crazy, below 1% ownership differentials somewhere and wish that they beat the alternatives by dozens of points.

Last played FPL, 7 years ago during uni life, set and forget team. This is my first year taking FPL seriously which I lead my ML by 42 points. Quite confident I would win it.

My actual target is inside Top 100K tbh, but now aiming for Top 10K. Hopefully, Kane, Alexis and co. able to help me cross the finishing line.

This is my test season. Initially set up my first team picking just players that I have heard of, at the beginning only transferred in players who got a lot of points the last gameweek because I didn't ever watch the matches, and didn't know who to bench or to captain every week. Therefore, I missed out on a lot of bandwagons and my rank was hilariously bad every week, because I didn't concentrate at all on my team pretty much. I took way to many hits that I didn't need to, transferred in players that had bad upcoming fixtures because I didn't check the fixture list, and I was the biggest noob you could imagine. I was very inconsistent. I was so horrific one week that for some reason I took an 8 point hit when I didn't need to at all, and in result got 31(-8) points and getting a hilarious rank of 3.9m in that week. I started looking at all the articles from GW25, and started commenting and posting teams from around GW29/30. So from being ranked 1.5M in GW25, and being 250k now in GW38, and most importantly 2nd in my ML, is a pretty decent comeback. Still an awful season though but I hope I can improve next season with more concentration because I had never heard of FPL before the season started and didn't follow the Premier League at all. Since GW25, these articles have been so helpful, the comments too and I wished I had known this website since GW1. Anyway, after the 21st May, straight away I'll be analysing my points from the whole of this season, see what I did wrong, plan my team for next season and take tips and advice from this website right from GW1, and hopefully I can get a decent rank for next year.

Gargatron says I'm 10 points outside of top 1K. Which means if I'd just captained Sanchez I'd finally be there. Ugh.

Time to do the business, Harold Kane!!!

FWIW for anybody wondering what a good finish is for folk on FFS.

The best way to judge how well 60k or 30k is as a finish to the season is to look at some of the leagues on FFS... LAWR/Old farts league etc.

Plenty of players in those leagues, and some very good FPL players at that, are well outside the top 10k/100k this year having had a bit of a stinker. Sadly quite a lot don't really bother posting when they have a bad season so the temptation is to think that everybody on FFS is inside the top 10k because they're the ones that post the most.....Well it just isn't true.

As a good example. The LAWR league is a fully active league of very good long time regular players of some note...including Doosra and Innsie and co...That league has 136 members, all fully active (even now) and all good players. The midway point in that league (68th place) has an OR rank of 40k.

That should help to place where you are in the grand scheme of FFS dedicated players.

It's gone well Doosra. We won the league twice.

we'd won it and then two teams folded. meaning all the points accrued against them got deducted. That meant we went into the last game of the season level on pts with the joint top placed team...and played them at home for the final game.

                We won 3-1...

I've been playing 10 years and in those 10 years I've finished top 10k 6 times and the rest probably top 50k or 100k. The best being 129.

The last 3 seasons I've barely averaged 50k and found it super hard. Although, I'm never a FPL member and just go by watching watever games I can.

The FPL game got easier for the casuals, the PL got harder for the top teams to beat lower teams and the amount of players playing FPL has almost tripled in 10 years.

10k is the new 5k, 50k is the new 10k and 100k is the new 50k

+ The game is just crazy now

If Hull don't win tonight they're relegated.

Kane will surely still be in search of that golden boot.

Hull will be defeated and at least Spurs have had time to get over their rank. It's not like it was there's to win, more like it was Chelsea's to lose.

Poch will reaffirm this idea and they will finish well amd try and start

      Optimistic pricing

      4.5 - 4 = 8.5
      6.0 - 5.0 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.0 = 24.0
      12.0 - 10.0 - 7.5 - 7.5 - 4.5 = 41.5
      12.0 - 10.0 - 7.0 = 29.0

13 goals in 26 games(1 goal every 2 games, so 19 in an average season), he's been injured for the last part and missed AFCON.

£10.0m is a great price for someone who basically had Sánchez goal numbers.

Don't me an @$$. So what, we should all just give up if we don't have a chance of winning. Maybe he's 1st in his mini league.

You take what enjoyment you want from the game yourself. If that's finishing in the top 10k for your 1st time so be it, if it's winning your mini league, so be it, if it's because the game gives you reason to cheer on teams you wouldn't normally cheer on, so be it.

That's a very bitter comment. Bench boost not worked worked out as planned? Do you still have a chance of placing 1st OR? Or have you quit since it doesn't matter anymore.

Everyone on here is always boasting about rank. Don't see anyone here in a position to win so should everyone just stuff it and prepare for next season??

Who knows. Conte has history if rotating teams if he wins titles early.

Costa may be to China so might want a send off?

Who knows but don't be surprised if rotation happens I guess

It's unlikely. Willian and Batshuayi proved they're capable replacements in the FA Cup semi final.

It would make sense to rest Costa and Haz prior to the Watford game (2days after West Brom), give them an 8 day break before Sunderland at home and they'll then have a 6 day break before the Final.

If he rested them for the Sunderland game, they'd only have a 2 day break before Watford (higher chance of injury) and an 11 day break to the final which would be counter productive for their fitness, mindset and sharpness.
