After a two week break Eliteserien return this weekend. Here is a short preview of Gameweek 13,  including an international round up, latest injury news and a look at some key differentials to consider.

INTERNATIONAL ROUND UP

In Norway’s World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic Tore Reginiussen (Rosenborg) was the only starter from Eliteserien. He left the pitch with an injury after 32 minutes.

For Norway’s friendly against Sweden Ander Trondsen (Sarpsborg) played 90 minutes, while Ohi Omoijuanfo (Stabæk) got his debut off the bench at half time.

There were a lot more players involved for Norway U21’s 5-0 win against Kosovo U21. Rossbach (Odd), Ryerson (Viking), Hanche-Olsen (Stabæk) and Yttergård Jensen (Tromsø) all got a start, while Zeknini (Odd), Reitan (Rosenborg) and Hoff (Aalesund) got apperances off the bench.

Hanche-Olsen and Reitan scored a goal, while Ryerson and Zekhnini was among the assisters. Sadly for Norway U21 it looks like the result will be changed to a loss, as Celtic player Kristoffer Ajer played even though he was suspended after a red card for Norway U19 earlier this year.

Riski (Odd) got 90 minutes for Finland against Lichtenstein, Rolantsson (Brann) got 90 minutes for Faraoe Islands against Switzerland and Mets (Viking), Baranov (Kristiansund) and Teniste (Sogndal) all played 90 minutes against both Belgium and Latvia for Estonia.

Singh Sandhu was India’s captain against Nepal, Sigurdarson (Molde) got a 13 minute sub apperance for Iceland against Croatia and Rasmussen got a 30 minutes sub apperance for Denmark U21 against Sweden U21.

Rosenborg’s depth in defence will be weakened in the coming gameweeks. Alex Gersbach will be playing in Confederations Cup for Australia, while Jakob Rasmussen will be playing U21 Euros for Denmark.

INJURY NEWS

I have to be honest, I haven’t manage to get an update on all injuries. Tore Reginiussen (Rosenborg) was subbed with an injury for Norway, but is expected to be back for Rosenborg’s clash with Haugesund this weekend. Sander Svendsen (Molde) got an injury last gameweek and isn’t expected to be back this gameweek. Sarpsborg are hopeful Jonas Lindberg will be back this gameweek.

Ghayas Zahid (Vålerenga), Samuel Adegbenro (Viking), Luc Kassi (Stabæk) and Robert Lundström (Vålerenga) are suspended.

DIFFERENTIALS FOR GAMEWEEK 13

Jean Alassane Mendy (5.2, Kristiansund, forward)

The Kristiansund striker has in exceptional form lately, scoring in the previous three Fameweeks. With a decent home fixture against Aalesund I back him to do well once again.

Aleksander Megalvis (4.3, Lillestrøm, defender)

I have been backing out of position midfielders for Lillestrøm in the previous two differentials picks with great success. This week I opt for defender Megalvis, who’s also out of position, playing as a right midfielder for Lillestrøm. His 2.9% ownership and a great home fixture against a Viking side, without key player Adegbenro, looks enticing and could provide returns at both ends of the pitch.  Previous picks Knudtzon and Udoji are also great selections for this fixture.

Martin Ramsland (6.5, Sogndal, forward)

With the lack of obvious differential picks this gameweek I opt for Ramsland. He’s a good option from the budget picks and last Gameweek he picked up a goal and an assist at home against Sandefjord. This time around he has another home clash, although he will have to be on top form against visitors Odd,  who have kept five clean sheets in their last six.

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that these players have zero consistency of performance, they are playing in Norway because they aren't (yet) good enough for better leagues.

Usually there are some Norwegians that always perform in terms of offensive returns. Petter Vaagan Moen, Øyvind Storflor, Trond Olsen, Ruud, Vilsvik and Huseklepp for instance. Unfortunately most of them are incredibly old and have been replaced by youngsters leaving the country after one good season.

Mos and Knudtzon have always been C tier players that's good for their strengths, but will never dominate. Riski could quickly become the next Storflor/Olsen. A flop at Rosenborg, but will deliver 10-15 goals and assists every year at a worse club.

Jensen, Samuelsen, Trondsen, Brochmann and Nordkvelle have been in the league for a while. They aren't really offensive types of players, but in some seasons they are for some reason incredibly prolific. They are the Ramseys, Toures or Pogbas of the league you could say. They will lure you in and most of the time be incredibly disappointing.

Haugen, Midtsjø and Zahid. They are like Nani. Brought into a big club at a young age. The next Ronaldo they say. Look at those smooth dribbles, the soft touches, the wonder goals. 18 years quickly become 24. Streaks of promises become pure frustration. Ødegaard left to never see them again. The glimpses are still there. Once in a while they are unplayable, and that's when you must have them.

So my Mendy move didn't pay off, but didn't expect too much to be honest. Seck will probably haul now instead

Sander Svendsen is out. Petter Strand, Semb Berge and Abdi are back. Skjelvik is out with injury, but Reginiussen is playing. Vilhjalmsson benched. ASiggy is possibly playing up top. Otherwise standard line ups everywhere.

Actually Skjelvik is on the bench, but he might still be injured. Gersbach and Rasmussen are on international duty.

Hajradinovic could be a good pick now he's playing behind the striker. Assist last time out, goal now.

I did Helland, Ibrahim > Sødlund, Sigurdarson. Switched from 352 to 343. Picking midfielders is such a pain. Strikers look a bit more consistent.

      9 years, 22 days ago

Glad I didn't get Knudtzon after all. Meling as double Rosenborg cover on my wildcard was a horrible decision.

Best replacement for Meling? Got to be either Ruud or Grøgaard, right? Or Rosted?

      1. Ramboros
        • 14 Years

It's though to pick defenders when Haugesund and Odd have no games in GW16, while Sarpsborg have 2xBrann and Odd in the next 4. Haugesunds(vik/TIL) looks like the best option for the next 2 GWs, while Odd(aafk/S08/--/VIK/SOG) looks better after GW16.

I think I'll just keep Meling for the next few GWs. Rosenborg have good fixtures, but terrible form. I don't need the money or Rosenborg slot when they are this bad.

        1. Niemi

Forgot about the blanks. Meh. I do have double Rosenborg defence though, they have not been good at all for me. I think I'm selling.

Brann are very negative away from home though, so a CS for Rosted is likely IMO next GW. Odd fixtures decent as well with the blank.

I agree. S08 only conceded twice in four games against Odd and Brann last year. I'm mostly worried that this years Sarpsborg and Brann will go out much more offensively than they would have last year. Also Trondsen might be out, which is a big hit.

              • 14 Years

And for me a big problem is that I'm already forced to play at least 2 of Braaten, Haugen and Rolantsson, so I'd rather look for points from another match.

                • 11 Years
                9 years, 22 days ago

Fair points. I'll assess later. I have Moe vs. Kristiansund on my bench, so might keep Meling for another week at least.

                  • 14 Years
                  9 years, 22 days ago

Upon further consideration I might do Ryerson > Rosted because I only need a defender for GW14 and 16. Viking, Godset and Rosenborg have good home fixtures for those GWs, but I'm not willing to transfer in defenders from those teams.

I'll wait and see if Knudtzon's card gets revoked and how long Meling is out. Braaten > Ulland Andersen has been my planned transfer for a while.

They can't revoke yellow cards, I'm pretty sure.

Should be a two game suspension for Meling.

For those unaware, Odd and Haugesund will have EL qualifier games after GW14 and GW15. Rosenborg and Brann will have CL/EL qualifier games after GW16 and GW17.
