Two of the three most popular players in Fantasy Premier League take to the field as Tottenham Hotspur make their way to Newcastle United in the 1.30pm kick-off.

Harry Kane is the main captaincy pick for Sunday’s early fixture. Owned by 37% of FPL managers, he’s been handed the armband by 22% on the back of 7.5 points per match last season.

The Spurs frontman was also runner-up in our Gameweek 1 Captain Poll after netting seven times in his final two away appearances of 2016/17.

Meanwhile, his team-mate Dele Alli is the most owned midfielder in the game, sitting in 38% of squads for the trip to Tyneside.

Both Alli and playmaker Christian Eriksen supplied 6.1 points per match last term and face a defence with just eight clean sheets in 23 home fixtures in the Championship.

Meanwhile, with the Magpies’ fixtures turning kindly next weekend, we get the chance to scout the likes of Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle as potential mid-price options for our squads.

Elsewhere, Rob Elliot gets the nod between the posts for the home side – he’s currently the only active 4.0-priced keeper in the game.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Thoughts so far...

Spurs has had 69% possession and Newcastle are running around trying to stifle them, successfully so far. After 60+ mins the match will change and Spurs' passing, coupled with Newcastle's tiredness, will eventually help Spurs make a breakthrough.

As for Newcastle, not too impressive. Any other manager than Rafa would probably have been more naïve and therefore be trailing by now. They need a proper striker up front to be the focal point of their breakaways. Nothing wrong with Gayle or Perez or Mitrovic but they can do much better.

Gayle really is sub-standard for the level. Toon are well organised at he back but apart from Atsu no one is showing. I think Spurs have given them too much respect and now Poch will be urging to get at Newcastle's defence. I had this result down as 0-1 with a Kane winner and I can still see that happening - if he's still on the pitch.
