The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

You're very unlucky that Watford went down to 10 men. Watford were creating some chances before Britos lost his mind.

Lot of money being splashed about in defence, but for around £100m you could have got:

    Pickford
    Fosu-Mensah Gibson Keane Maguire Robertson

That is a young, improving and solid British defensive unit IMO.

£50m on Kyle Walker? Give me the above any day.

Because it would be a solid PL defence that you could keep together for many years. It would be an improvement on Liverpool's defence.

You wanted to spend £70m on VVD. How have Lovren, Clyne, Fonte (at West Ham) worked out?

That is a solid defence with lots of potential. Far better than Klavan, Stones, Mustafi etc.

Granted Chelsea and Utd have strong defences, but seriously the money being spent on average defenders is ridiculous.

Not at all. FM would get me buying Kyle Walker and Danny Rose for £50m each.

Keane, Gibson and Maguire are better (and have more potential) than players like Evans (linked with City - wtf?), Lovren (£20m back in 2014), Mustafi (£35m!), Stones (£50m!) etc. Don't think Klavan and Matip are that good either.

That's why you are conceding goals still despite spending £17m on Bravo, £35m for Ederson, £50m on Stones, £50m on Walker, £30m on Otamendi and £50m on Mendy. Now you also want to buy Evans. You telling me Keane, Maguire and Gibson are worse than Evans - you got to be joking.

      Bruh...
      Moses (10m), Azpiliqueta (7m), Luiz (34m), Cahill (7m), Alonso (23m).
81m for Chelsea's back 5. And people complain about us spending money...
Not to mention Christensen (free) and Rudiger (34m) as solid backup.
Most bought in a different financial generation, but still bargains.

Azpi, Moses and Cahill were bought a while ago when the market wasn't as hot. Alonso and Luiz look decent value. Will hold out on Rudiger and Christensen as good buys for now although can't go bad for free.

    Serious question.
Is it worth activating wild card only to make some profit ?
I'm happy with my team but not sure if I should take advantage of international brake in order to increase my TV ?
Or is it wise to leave wild card for dark hour (cards, injuries, drop in form... etc) ?

    DeGea Elliot
    Stones Stephens Dawson Mee Rosenior
    DeBruyne Mkhitaryan Willian Mooy Carroll
    Kane Lukaku Gabbiadini

    1 FT, 0.4 itb.

-I've had enough of DeBruyne, he just doesn't justify his high price tag. Not only FPL wise, but playing so deep doesn't show promise he can get involved in many attacking efforts of his team. He doesn't even take corners by crossing towards the box.. he passes!!
-Leaning towards getting Alonso as a long term move, so I want to catch him before his price rises. Stones has been the one to sacrifice for days, so today's benching was another step closer to justifying that.

Would you do DeBruyne->D.Silva and Stones->Alonso for -4 now?

Said it before and will say it again. West Ham buy the wrong sort of character. Players like Hart, Arnie, Fonte, Zabaleta are mercenaries who want to get their pay day.

West Ham should be buying young British talent from the Championship IMO. You keep knocking players like Maguire and Keane, but (i) they have a desire to win, (ii) they want to improve and play for their country, and (iii) they bring a team spirit of togetherness and leadership with them. They don't give up like West Ham's players do.

KDB to Alli or Eriksen? Considering Alli, he also have CL ban so he wont be rotated or subbed maybe?

I'd go Eriksen - consistent, safer choice. Neither will be rotated anyway

Little worried that my team starting to fill up with uncertain starters..

Willian, Stephens, Fraser possibly Jones. Add KDB to that list as a one player waiting to be ditched. Which players would you prioritise getting out or would you even stick to KDB as he seems to be certain starter for City?

I was pretty sure Palace wouldn't score they are really terrible and Vary and Mahrez on the break could of caused problems, but I won't bench Jones at home again

Because sometimes you pick crap players who are cheap, but somehow perform. Tom Carroll is on my bench and reckon he will score over 100 pts this season. Not bad a £4.5m player.

Looking at clubs who've abandoned traditional grounds for new builds, how well have they actually fared afterwards?

I can't help but feel that the atmosphere at grounds like Maine Road, Highbury and Upton Park would still be a significant advantage for the respective clubs when playing at home.
