The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Delighted I made the decision to switch the (C) from Lukaku to Eriksen

    In more pressing matters;

With the first 3 games out of the way and United's lineup looking very settled, would you do DDG & Dawson > Foster and Jones and save 1m??

United's lineup will be far from settled when they play in the CL. Keep DDG

Champions League group is very light though, also Jones is banned for 1st two games.

On a wildcard I would. Otherwise I imagine you've got more pressing problems to fix. Definitely not worth a hit.

A bit worried about Pep's rotation after today, but I guess he seems like the best candidate in that price range.

The alternative is to get someone cheaper, and use the difference to upgrade JRod to either Chicha or Firm

Been very busy lately so haven't been on here commenting for a bit.
22 points last night with Foster, Hegazi, Davies, Salah and Kane (c) to come.
Watched Man City play and was very disappointed with KDB and where he was playing. Thinking of selling him but would like some thoughts on my team-
    1 FT, 0.4 cash:
    Foster, Elliot
    Davies, Jones, Stephens, Hegazi, Long
    KDB, Salah, Pogba, Carroll, RLC
    Kane, Lukaku, Gabbiadinni

    Thanks!

      My options:

      Richarlison (is he nailed?)
      Atsu (better prospect than Ritchie?)
Tadic/Redmond (are Soto just super defensive?)
Fer (not very popular I know but after siggy left...)

Said it before and will say it again. West Ham buy the wrong sort of character. Players like Hart, Arnie, Fonte, Zabaleta, Masuaku, Hernandez are mercenaries who want to get their pay day. They don't have the desire to 'save' West Ham.

West Ham should be buying young British talent from the Championship IMO. People here keep knocking players like Maguire, Keane, Tom Carroll, Chalobah, Trippier, Westwood but (i) they have a desire to win, (ii) they want to improve and play for their country, and (iii) they bring a team spirit of togetherness and leadership with them. They don't give up like West Ham's players do.

Which one should I ship for Jones? Would like to make the move before price changes occur as Jones could easily rise.

Kompany - City didn't look great defensively today and only 1 cs in 3 for a total of 8 points in 3 go's doesn't justify his 6.0 price

Kola - Hasn't been all he was hyped up to be but that could change with the return of Koscienly. However, their up coming fixtures aren't as good as City's.

Both are more expensive than Jones so a price rise doesn't really matter. I'd wait until after the internationals as there could easily be injuries.

No, the front 3 will often be replaced early.

Think I'm going to WC for a bit of banter over the international week 🙂

          Fernandez or Naughton, decent fixtures

Thanks. I am also considering Fernandez actually but not sure which team is more solid out of Newcastle and Swansea

Anyone worried about Stephens starting place now?

Worth shipping to Cedric for -4?

          Yes.

Definitely not worth a hit though until he's actually been dropped.

Not unless VVD is still a Saints player after the deadline.

More worried about Yoshida with Hoedt's arrival.

I hear that Yoshida is likely the one to keep his spot

FFS's resident site expert on Southampton reckons Stephens is first choice over Yoshida.

Thing is no one knows apart from the manager at the minute so no point making any changes until we know for certain.

Yoshida's had a better season and hoedt's a ball playing defender so id expect stephens to miss out but could go the other way.

Very sensible. I will wait and see.
Be a shame as Stephens has been great from what I've seen.

Yeh Cedric's definitely the best option but i would wait and see. Especially for a hit.

I see Hoedt as a upgrade on Yoshida, while Stephens will stay being the ball playing CB.
