Dugout Discussion – Sunday – Part Two

The second instalment to Sunday’s slice of Premier League action brings Gameweek 3 to a close with matches at Anfield and Wembley Stadium.

The attention of Fantasy managers will be pulled in different directions, with key assets on show in both contests.

After the “failings” of Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Sergio Aguero on Saturday, we now look to see if Harry Kane can step up.

Kane is backed 741,000+ (16.1%) ahead of the “home” encounter with Burnley as he bids to end a run of two single point returns and score his first competitive career goal in August.

Should he succeed, it would doubtless have a major impact on rankings and transfer activity over the international break.

Equally, events at Anfield could have a major effect on our thinking leading up to Gameweek 4.

Liverpool boast an array of attacking talent, including the electric Sadio Mane, who lines up in tandem with the in-form Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.

But Arsenal have their own riches on show, with all eyes on the performance of Alexis Sanchez.

He returns to the Gunners’ line-up as Alexandre Lacazette suprisingly drops to the bench as Danny Welbeck leads the attack in a Arsenal’s 3-4-2-1.

Like Kane, should Sanchez convince and return points this afternoon, the impact on the FPL market would be substantial.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          Isn't -4 better than 0.3m in price? I understand this game is about points. But irrespective of any points, a hit is better than a 0.3m loss.

      if you need to make 3 to beat prices, may as well wildcard.
      Its the international break, you make 3 transfers now, you don't know what shape those players will be in two weeks

    Bottomed. Which transfer(s) do I make? One for free, other will require hits.

    A) Dummett --> Mbemba / Lejeune / Francis (or suggest anyone else)
    B) Hennessey --> Foster
    C) Jesus --> Morata

      I have had enough of him. Doing my head in. Will fall like a stone over the break, will re-buy at 12.3/12.4 if he starts to bang them in. By bang them in - I mean back to back braces. Not one goal...

    kane's fixtures after everton away:

    swansea, west ham, huddersfield, bournemouth.

    i reckon he'll score between 4-7 goals in these 4 matches. i put him in for gw 3 but think should keep for the net few matches atleast.

    Too many people who use this site fall into the same pitfalls. Jumping on the bandwagon a week too late.
    Apart from obvious players such as focal points of the top teams, (Lukaku) selecting a player the week after they have a haul rarely improve your point total.
    Fundamentally any player can have a huge haul for 1/2 games weeks and perform above expected goals but if the underlying stats are not there the chances of a repeat performance are low. Eg Chicha and Rooney (note Everton are averaging 9 shots at goal per game, which is atrocious)

    The key to large jumps are players who are currently performing below their expected goals, where they should have scored 2/3 goals but haven't. At some stage these players will revert to the mean such as Kane. So despite all the comments about removing him, players without him should actually be looking to pick him post price drops.

          True. But I constantly go against the grain, allowed me to finish 11th 2 seasons ago. Last year I missed a month and still finished 174k. And 25k so far this year. Must be doing something right

      Weighing up my options and have condensed my thoughts into two options:

      A) Take a hit to sort out major issues in my team = -4 points and likely several price drops
      B) Use wildcard to avoid losing team value and taking a hit.

      Basically I think I can preserve 0.5m squad value and will save myself a 4 point hit by using wildcard. Would using WC be justified in this situation?

      DDG, Elliot
      Alonso, Stephens, Dawson, Mee, Long
      Alli, Salah, Pogba, RLC, Caroll
      Kaku, Jesus, Chicharito

      0.5m ITB, 1 FT

      A) Jesus to Morata, then Mee to Trippier next GW
      B) Wait for Haz (Jesus and RLC to 4.5 and Haz when he's fit)
