Jurgen Klopp confirms that Philippe Coutinho may be lacking match fitness for Liverpool’s trip to Man City. Kieran Trippier is available for Spurs’ clash with Everton but Stoke City look set to be without skipper Ryan Shawcross for the visit of Man United.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has conceded that Philippe Coutinho looks sharp in training after featuring for Brazil over the break. But the midfielder may need to build up his match sharpness ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Man City.

Arsene Wenger will check on late arrivals such as Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey following their international exploits, although it’s anticipated they’ll be available for selection for the home encounter with Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe revealed Simon Francis is expected to be back in contention for the trip to the Emirates following a hamstring injury.

Chris Hughton is expects strikers Tomer Hemed (thigh) and Glenn Murray (ankle) to be fit for Brighton’s home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies head coach Tony Pulis has revealed that new arrivals Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kieran Gibbs are lacking match fitness, admitting he has a “big decision to make” about starting them. He also added there are one or two knocks in the squad, but didn’t reveal any names.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has stated that Wayne Rooney will feature at home to Spurs. Jordan Pickford has recovered from the injury that forced him to withdraw from England duties.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Kieran Trippier “is available” to face Everton, though new boy Serge Aurier is less certain to feature.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has no injury concerns for the visit of Watford, with defender Virgil van Dijk now back training with the first-team squad.

Marco Silva revealed Younes Kaboul (leg), Daryl Janmaat (muscle problem) and Roberto Pereyra (groin) have all returned to training for Watford over the past few days, with the former two more likely to be available at St Mary’s.

Ryan Shawcross is set to miss Stoke City’s home encounter against Manchester United with a fresh back injury, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be assessed, having picked up a hamstring problem during the international break.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement anticipates that new arrivals Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches will both be involved against Newcastle United. Jordan Ayew has recovered from illness.

And Eden Hazard could be set for his first league appearance of the season as Chelsea make their way to Leicester – the winger played 91 minutes for Belgium over the break after finally recovering from an ankle complaint.

Let's post this up here 🙂

Wildcarders: There's very little to be gained by asking if you should drop Kane, even if just for the Everton game. Owners will rally to say it's a bad idea as they're worried about further price drops.

You're in a strong position, effectively a win-win. You can take the risk that he blanks against Everton while punting on another striker and leaving funds in the bank to get him back in against Swansea in GW5. Either, Kane scores and you buy him at 12.4m or he doesn't and you have the choice of buying him for 12.3m or less. You also gain whatever your GW4 striker punt scores.

I think that scenario is worth the use of a FT, IMO. (Particularly if you fancy a punt on an Arsenal striker, maybe.)

    1. built_this_city

yea but - the problem with having a transfer planned is that you could get an injury, suspension etc

This is my concern also. But maybe worth the risk and one of the benefits of a WC now. Im trying to get the most out of my WC so....

There's also the question of captaincy in this scenario. Do you (c) the punt or in most cases stick with Lukaku?

      1. Twisted Saltergater
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 17 Years
        9 years, 12 days ago

Not sure it's relevant as broadly speaking, Everton away isn't captaincy material. I've seen several comments suggesting Kane owners will captain Lukaku or Mané, for example.

But if you're a risk taker and prefer fixture over form, then you might consider Lacazette a better option than Lukaku.

      9 years, 12 days ago

Yeah, pretty much my stance on it: have a plan to get him in with as little pain as possible, but no point doing it now when he still hasn't hit form and plays Everton away. The WC helps make your squad flexible, not just lock it in to the best supposed set up for the next 8 gameweeks

      9 years, 12 days ago

Yep, that's what I'm likely doing with Laca.

Kane will likely score but I'll hope Laca covers it and if Kane blanks, I'll have him for 12.3 ahead of GW5 hopefully. I'll build a squad to absorb any injuries so booking that transfer out isn't a big risk.

It's all a gamble but it could be very effective. It gets me a differential captain for one week and might just save me another 0.1 on other Kane owners.

Of course, he could go mad and hit a hat-trick - I have to rely on Koeman's organised defence to stop that.

Very interesting, Mark. It'll certainly spice up the Scoutcast next week!

Am someone who abused their wildcard last gameweek, I took a punt on the Liverpool - Arsenal game being a 4 goal affair and brought in Sanchez (and Kane for Lukaku). Unfortunately, Liverpool scored all 4 goals and it backfired... as did the Kane captaincy.

I wish you well! It's these sort of moves which give you the greatest buzz in FPL.

Oh btw, I think it's enough of a differential to own Sanchez this week, I'm going with Morata(c).

Do Laca's underlying stats warrant punting on him, do you reckon?

    7. GENERATION X
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 12 days ago

Hmm - if Laca goes mental do you then chuck him for Kane just like that? Or maybe you ditch Lukaku...either way it is a dangerous game as Harry could easily be happier away from Wembley. Having said that he still has to get past Pickford who looks so good.

      1. OldBenKenobi
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 12 days ago

This thought has also crossed my mind but here's another scenario:
What if Lacazette and Lukaku or all your forwards do well? Still don't get Kane in? Lol the dilemmas! 😉

Yes, the big caveat to all of this is Everton. I consider Everton at home to be one of the top 3 defences... ok, maybe 4th behind Spurs, United and Chelsea, but they're up there. Even their attacking mids can be defensive in Rooney and Siggy.

Just an opinion but I think Conte is likely to favour Willian over Pedro when all Chelsea midfield is fit, simply because Morata seems to favour balls swung into the box, whereas Costa prefered running in behind with a more direct build-up.

Pedro is Spanish. Experience playing with morata in the international team

For this week, International schedule doesn't speak in favor of Willian compared to Pedro ..

        This.

Contemplating on gambling without him this GW and buying back at a possible 12.3 but will probably chicken out.

Weak midfield. Would want Mkhi or Pogba so would get rid of Danilo and replace with naughton.

I`ve reached the phase where all of my ideas seems rubbish. Any thoughts on my current wildcard team? Leaves nothing in the bank.

    Elliot | Krul
    Alonso | Bavies | Cedric | Naughton | Francis
    Manè | Eriksen | Mkhi | Brady | Carroll
    Kane | Firmino | Chicha

I could alternatively downgrade Brady to Chalobah/RLC, and do Cedric -> Jones + Krul -> Foster? Would leave 0.4 itb
