The Gameweek begins with a Friday night clash under lights at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth host south coast rivals Brighton in what is already a vital match for the home side.

Eddie Howe’s Cherries are simply in dismal form. They have suffered four successive defeats and have just a single goal to their name – albeit a goal of the season contender from Fantasy favourite Charlie Daniels.

Impotent in attack, Howe’s defence have also allowed 30 shots on target, more than any other side.

Such statistics will give Chris Hughton’s Brighton plenty of confidence heading into the contest, having sealed their first ever Premier League victory in Gameweek 3 with a 3-1 win over West Brom.

Pascal Gross inspired that performance with an 18-point haul made up of two goals and an assist. Fantasy managers will be fixed on his display in the number ten role tonight as the main point of interest.

Indeed, the match provides a sedate introduction to Gameweek 5, with few Fantasy assets on show.

The aforementioned Daniels is the top owned player in action. Still part of 12.7% of squads, the left-back has been sold by more than 222,000 managers over the last three Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Never had as much transfer regret in the last few years as this Lukaku out.

    Guaranteed 90 mins
    Good fixtures
    Everton awful
    On pens
    In form

Jesus and Firmino are going to have to seriously perform...

Lukaku is better value than Jesus. 1m elsewhere won't make much difference

It was the difference between Gabbiadini and Firmino at least....or helped.

Jesus just about keeping up so far

I'm not sure it was that clear cut. Funds could have been taken from elsewhere surely.

Mkhi, Eriksen, Salah would have been main places.

Could have cheaped out on defence but really wanted Davies

He's strengthened his team by quite a bit from what i see and while you have Lukaku you have Joselu who is a shot in the dark he has 3 very competent and performing strikers..

Apart from that teams are very similar

I'm not comparing my team with his, you are. I believe people should back their decisions with 100% confidence or close to it. Regretting such a major move just days after doesn't sound like a confident move to me.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Lukaku has absolutely no chance of outscoring or at least keeping pace with Kane. It's crazy. Few things to consider:

      - Lukaku has already outscored Kane by 4 to 2 goals.

      - One of Kane's goals was actually a cross. This seems to have had a disproportionate impact in people's thinking - I can't imagine there would be anywhere near the same enthusiasm had he just scored once last week.

      - Lukaku has had 7 big chances to Kane's 4. That's at least 2 more than any other striker. Lukaku has also had the same number of shots on target as Kane.

      - Last season Kane outscored Lukaku by 4 goals. BUT 7 of Kane's goals came in the last 2 "freak" games. Kane also scored 5 penalties.

      - Kane was playing for a significantly better team than Lukaku last season with much better service. Spurs scored a whopping 24 more goals than Everton over the season.

Good points. If not owning both at the same time, it's all about timing of course. The last couple of seasons they've been kind enough to alternate series of blanks!

Yeah I think both is the way to go long term. I don't currently have Kane and obviously that's a worry but I think the extra money can be used elsewhere and with Eriksen and Alli there's great routes into Spurs' goals.

In just a couple of gameweeks time the fixtures for United from an attacking perspective are about to get extremely difficult.. games we will be very compact behind the ball and looking to counter.. my guess is quite a number of people will be looking to ship Lukaku for that run.. those that have ditched now for a more than capable replacement may find themselves ahead of the curve.. stranger things have happened

I think your regret is because of the hit. You transferred in 3 players but they're almost forgotten and the overall impression is you transferred out Lukaku for a hit. It just makes it sound worse. Had you done Lukaku & Gabbiadini to Jesus and Firmino for free, I doubt you'd be stressing it this much.

I also imagine we'd be having a very different conversation about the two of them if Lukaku had scored that penalty and Kane hadn't scored that cross.

Such small margins but that would have meant Lukaku 5 goals and Kane only 1, and I think in that world no one would be getting Kane back in.

-Don't think Everton are as bad as past couple of results suggest.
-Even if he is allowed to take next penalty, not sure that is point-positive, for Luk owners.
-BUT, Jesus and Firminho will definitely fail. (full disclosure: I went morata...I may be projecting)

but looking at fixtures and i think Firmino will outscore Chic by a great deal and is a better capataincy option imho, though Kane is the natural choice it happens from time to time that you need other captaincy choices, looks sound by the look of it

Yeah, bad luck is one way of describing it. Crappy choices is another.

I went Kane, Kane, Kane, and (to be punty) Tadic. If I could do it over again I still would have chosen Kane against Newcastle. That's a supportable decision. But it should have been Lukaku in GW2 and Kane in GW4.

        Marathon, not sprint, though, right?

OK, well Tadic was a crappy choice 😛

As for the others, just bad luck. Same as me, couldn't have accounted for Lukaku missing that penalty, or Jesus getting subbed at 45 when City fell down to 10 men...

          Indeed, marathon, not a sprint.

I can actually get Kolasinac for free next week, but I have a Kane-Jesus-Morata masterplan for GW8 and only 0.1 to spare, and both Jesus and Morata are likely to rise before then

    Elliot, Krul
    Ake, Dawson, Davies, Suttner, Long
    Eriksen, Alli, Mkhi, Mooy, Carroll
    Lukaku, Jesus, Firmino

    Could go to something like:

    Elliot, Krul
    Davies, Kola, Keane, Ward, Wimmer
    Eriksen, Mkhi, Siggy, Atsu, RLC
    Lukaku, Jesus/Morata, Firmino

First, you don't need a wildcard. Ake is the only thing that desperately needs changing for next week.

Second, if you DO wildcard, please include Kane. It would be criminal not to.

Could be luck, could be skill. For some of the other players in the top ten I looked at, it's definitely luck. One person is captaining Kante over Lukaku. Some others are doing ridiculous things. So just work on ur own plan and thinking as best u can.

Exact money to do: Ince + Daniels to Mkhi + Kola (-4).
I really like it but I think I will miss it due to Mkhi's possible price rise tonight. I want to wait till after all players concerned have played.
Otamendi would be my second choice if it's priced out.
    Any suggestion?

I don't think it's worth rushing. If you get priced out and Mkhi is the one you badly want, then Otamendi or Monreal are fine replacements for Kola. If you get priced out and Kola is the one you badly want, then Antonio is a fine replacement for Mkhi.

I'm still not sold. They were fortunate to score today, and they are so toothless in attack that I see a lot of zeros in their future. But it's hard to argue with his set piece delivery, and those fixtures are juicy. So, in sum: I'm confused 🙂

      1. Jersey
        • 10 Years

what sold me was the fact that he led the Bundesliga in chances created for TWO YEARS RUNNING !! -- think about that.
there simply has to be more to him than meets the eye as you watch him plodding around the field.

he's on free kicks and corners, i saw immediately that he has great field vision, and he puts crosses right on people's heads. Hughton has the whole offense (what there is of it) set up to pivot around him, so he is their main man.

i know it's Brighton, but what do you want for 5.5?

          Impressive stats those are.

Still, he created one chance across the first two weeks this season, so I don't mind being a little tepid at the start to see if/when he would settle in to a different kind of league.

Also, for 5.5 I want someone who doesn't look physically overmatched, and whose side will routinely see more than 30% of possession. Is that a blind spot of mine - that I tend to prefer players who pass my own subjective eye test? Probably. But I still won't be bringing him in 🙂

I think it's best to divert the cash into defence and get one of alonso kolasinac or Davies. Nothing in midfield catches the eye at that price

Atsu/Groß rotation in a 433 anyone? They rotate nicely for several weeks. This would cost me -4

    Foster/Elliot
    Alonso Kola Davies Jones
    Eriksen Mkhi (Atsu/Groß)
    Kane Firmino Jesus

    GK (Atsu/Groß) Carroll Mbemba

I like it. I sort of prefer Antonio with a Choupo/Brady rotation, but it's an interesting approach.

Hi, which one is better options:

    A. Lukaku + Joselu + max 4.7m def
    B. de Jesus + Rashford + 3.9m def/bench fodder

    Thanks.

On serious note, does anyone else think that their are not enough midfield options to pick from? (decent midfielders that is)

There are midfield options, but the mid-range price bracket is a bit of a wasteland at the minute.

I think Antonio is the pick of the bunch. Ramsey maybe, if he's nailed. Otherwise it's all dross.

Play Fermina. No Bad K for Citeh. Silva is a decent manager.

Is Vardy taking pens now?He took it from Mahrez last week without a word.

Someone suggested it was because he won the pen. Stay with Firmino.

Yeah, I wonder if it's punishment for Mahrez's antics during the window?

      Always a chance with a goal-threat defender v a 'poor' team
