This Sergio Aguero chap looks a good option.

Twenty goals in 25 starts last season; he’s scored 24 and 26 goals in his two previous campaigns.

Priced at 11.4, cheaper than he’s ever been – he looks useful.

Of course, we all know this, it’s just that today’s devastating hat-trick at Watford has provided us with an almighty jolt and left us questioning our logic.

Seven days ago I wondered whether we will ever need look beyond the Harry Kane/Romelu Lukaku combination up front.

In true “knee-jerk” fashion, a week later, I’m now left asking if we can afford to overlook Aguero.

We can’t beat ourselves up; our reservations to this point were understandable.

Pep Guardiola’s plans with the Argentine, working in tandem with his apparent darling Gabriel Jesus, were shrouded in uncertainty.

Aguero has started up with Jesus in four of five Premier League matches. However, he was dropped to the bench at Bournemouth – a decision that appeared to confirm our fears that we could not rely on Aguero and Pep.

But today’s treble took Aguero to four goals since the south coast “rest” and the impact has been instant.

Over 74,000 have already moved to acquire Aguero, with Lukaku the major fall guy. The Manchester United striker has lost over 16,000 owners to his City rival before he’s even kicked a ball in Gameweek 5.

Some are clearly convinced, and the rest of us are left wondering if we should follow suit. City’s fixtures are more than enticing, and the prospect of watching Aguero run riot clutching FPL armbands is a petrifying thought.

Indeed, the only consolation today was that Aguero’s ownership remains relatively modest. He was part of just 502,000 squads ahead of Gameweek 5, and captained by 39% of those managers.

His 20-points will still make waves across mini-leagues and ranks, but it’s surely the least impactful hat-trick of Aguero’s illustrious FPL career.

But the haul hit even harder as a result of Kane’s bitterly disappointing blank.

Almost a million (20.1%) of FPL managers trusted Kane with the armband and were left frustrated by Spurs’ inability to breakdown a stubborn Swansea at Wembley.

Everything – the form, fixture and the statistics – all pointed to Kane being the Gameweek’s must-own, high-scoring option.

But there’s that logic again.

The same thought patterns that can perhaps persuade us that David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne or Gabriel Silva can cover Aguero’s future tallies.

Maybe, like a good few struggling Premier League managers, we just need to go back to basics.

Selecting Aguero in your Fantasy Football team used to be our rule number one. It was our basic instinct.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Alonso + Morata > B.Davies + Aguero for free?

    Foster
    Cedric, Alonso, Jones, Naughton
    Eriksen (vc), Mkhi, Salah
    Lukaku (c), Morata, Firmino

    (Elliott)(Carroll, RLC, Rosenior).

First knockdown of the season yesterday and it was brutal. Looking ahead, would you consider Firmino & Wijnaldum -> Jesus & Groß (-4) good moves?

Getting rid of Firmino is irritating. Really need to save money there but I don't see how. Vardy the obvious replacement is injured. Kane and Kaku being my other strikers means I can't really go more expensive... nothing looks good below 8.5m

Probably; I'm slightly hoping he is out for a bit (despite being a Leicester fan), so I can rely on minutes for Iheanacho. He will be a regular starter soon, being eased in.

You're in a better position than me as you can do Kaku to Kun. That seems obvious at the moment. I could do Morata & Wij -> Kun & Ritchie/Groß but it feels like a massive knee jerk.

yh. you need atleast 3 strikers from Aguero Kane Lukaku Jesus Morata Laca

there are viable cheap mids below 6m like ritchie gross brady atsu to accomodate heavy frontline.

        whats not to like

1.Filling two midfielders with players from promoted sides is not my thing.
          2. Picking up players just based on form is not a great thing in my view.

I was referring to the likes of Ritchie and Groß. Most people wouldn't go near them if not for the last two weeks. I don't think any fixture is easy for them.
              Same thing about Elliot.

I like it, I'd find a way to swap Kolasinac for Alonso though, at that price range you need to be confident for points at both ends, Alonso offers this, Arsenal's defence is yet to settle so could be seen as a waste.

I sold KDB and Jesus 2 weeks ago, still not sure what attacking city players I want but going to get a city defender this week to make sure I have some exposure and sort out my defence anyway.

So, Walker and Mendy look similar so far, anyone got a strong preference? Assume they are better than a centre back if I can afford them.

    Elliot - Fabianski
Alonso - Jones - Suttner - Naughton (Long)
Alli - Erikssen - Salah - Mkhi (Carroll)
    Kane - Firmino (Hemed)

Was planning mkhi + firmino > Jesus & atsu next week, do I pull the trigger this week and go the aguero route for -4 or do it next week?

Or do I pull the trigger on the w/c? I can then set up 3-4-3 as follows

    Elliot - Fabianski
    Bavies - Naughton - Mbemba - Moreno & Holgate / Mee & Wimmer
    Silva - Alli - Salah - Atsu - RLC
    Kane - Kun - Vardy

I have 2 and am thinking of switching to 1. It's just one route to Kun though.

Palace actually look pretty good. RLC in particular in the #10 role, more like a second striker it seems.

After their nasty run, could be some bargains.
