It seems that every Fantasy Football manager in the land is seeking counsel.

Sergio Aguero’s 20-points has caused joy and consternation – mainly the latter – and we’re all in need of reassurance and solutions. 

The ScoutCast crew are no different.

Granville, Jonty, Andy and Az join me in searching for answers, thankful for the opportunity to bounce ideas and opinion. 

Contrary to popular thinking, among the noise and chatter, we do arrive at a tentative conclusion.

All but one of us are willing to bend to Sergio’s surge in points and popularity or fall for Pep’s potential plot. We’re abstaining on the Aguero option for now and, over this 90 minutes, we’ll tell you just why.

Aguero dominates, but we have ample time to entertain other community questions, discussing Harry Kane’s latest failings, the premium defenders that warrant our trust and our cash, while Jonty is itching to take us through his handpicked bonus magnet XI.

    I think I've convinced myself that I'll be just fine by keeping Kane & Lukaku over Aguero.

    However, this also popped into my head. Is it feasible or is it not worth it?

    Eriksen & Chicarito -> Atsu & Aguero -4.

        Yeah, understand. He has pretty good chances created stats and could be a bargain at 6.9. Having a look around and some predicted lineups don't have him in the starting XI, but he was taken on 56 mins in the week, which would suggest he's going to play?!

        Mkhi can take corners and free kicks... maybe not all of them but it's worth bearing in mind. Fairly sure 2 of his assists this season have come from set pieces

          It is if your willing to take a few hits to keep getting the inform striker in, but it's probably not a good idea. I've done Kane -> Kun not just because he's in form, but also because i'm starting to think Kun might be a better option in the medium term (until Pep strikes again).

          This is Kun's 7th season at City (has it been that long?) and he has scored 6 PL hat-tricks for them in that time. His goals in the immediately following game: 0, 1, 1, 0, 1, 1. So an average of 0.67 goals per game following a PL hat-trick.

          That means nothing as a predictor, of course. City didn't have Palace at home in Aguero's first game after a hat-trick before. But to take one example, in one of the games he blanked in after a treble City scored 4 against Swansea. Maybe that's slightly comparable? Wouldn't Aguero captainers take City scoring 4 against Palace now?

          All I am saying, really, is that an Aguero haul this weekend is by no means a done deal. If you are taking a hit to get him it almost certainly means he must score twice (or 1G 1A at the minimum) to even have a chance to repay the hit and that's with your alternative captain blanking. Kane may not blank. Lukaku may not blank. They didn't suddenly become rubbish because Aguero scored 3 last weekend.

          In addition, you are probably then faced with Kane and/or Lukaku missing in GW7 when they both have better fixtures than Aguero does. Unless you use another FT to switch him out again. Or unless you are completely un-balancing your squad by having all three (which is a fundamental error in my opinion).

          Speaking personally, I feel I can improve my team more for this week and next by the transfers I will actually make than by getting Aguero in. That's the long and the short of it. I could get burned by Aguero. I could also get burned by removing Kane or Lukaku. Either way, I'd still have the -4.

      But what if Morata c'est subbed off at 0-2, after 60 minutes, having scored just once for instance while Aguero gets 2 or 3?

        Look at facts. Bats played the full 90 on Wednesday so Morata could play this game. He's nailed to start - at least, and has the form to show he can get a few goals against poor defences.

        You bought Morata for a reason, if you aren't going to play him in games like then why have him at all?

        For a -4? No way.
