Time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to our line-up and future plans.

Gameweek 6 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

Fixture MoTM
Bournemouth vs Brighton Jordon Ibe
Crystal Palace vs Southampton Mario Lemina
Watford vs Man City Sergio Aguero
Liverpool vs Burnley Nick Pope
Huddersfield vs Leicester Aaron Mooy
Newcastle vs Stoke Matt Ritchie
West Brom vs West Ham Michail Antonio
Tottenham vs Swansea Federico Fernandez
Chelsea vs Arsenal Aaron Ramsey
Man United vs Everton Antonio Valencia

Sergio Aguero was the headline act this week, netting 27 points against Watford.

The Argentinian is now the highest-scoring forward in the game and just one point behind the top player overall, Mohamed Salah.

Aguero is also priced at 12.8, the second most expensive player behind Harry Kane, making him difficult to acquire with one transfer unless you’re looking at a direct swap or multiple trades.

However, many Fantasy managers will doubtless be tearing up their plans in order to shoehorn him in ahead of a home clash against the struggling Crystal Palace.

Aaron Mooy, Matt Ritchie and Michail Antonio all earned their second accolades for the season and continue to look the strongest options in their respective teams.

Gameweek 6 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn eight points or more in bonus for the season.

members

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Name Team Value % of Managers
Pogba Man United 11.2 13.2%
Mane Liverpool 11.0 7.8%
Mounie Huddersfield 8.5 3.4%
Hernandez West Ham 10.7 2.8%
Firmino Liverpool 11.6 2.3%

Paul Pogba and Sadio Mane are again the top targets out, while Steve Mounie takes up third place after failing to make the weekend due to injury. He’s ruled out again for Gameweek 6.

Top Transfers In

Name Team Value % of Managers
Aguero Man City 12.8 7.3%
Salah Liverpool 9.4 5.2%
Mkhitaryan Man United 10 4.3%
de Bruyne Man City 11.5 4.2%
Eriksen Tottenham 10.8 4.0%

Unsurprisingly, Aguero is the top target this week, while the remaining four midfielders look to have been drafted in to replace Paul Pogba or Sadio Mane and promise to be great options in the coming weeks.

Average Transfers Remaining

Top 10 – 20.70
Top 100 – 26.49
Top 1,000 – 29.44

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form to offer Fantasy managers a nudge in (hopefully) the right direction.

ITB: 0.6
Transfers remaining: 35/40
Last week’s points: 85
Overall points: 385
Rank: 4,297

Notes

The consistent Salah (10 points) and Nemanja Matic (eight) brought home some decent returns, while Fraser Forster and Kyle Naughton both bagged nine points for me at the back.

My captains were Jermain Defoe (14), Harry Kane (four) and then Romelu Lukaku (20), which is more than I have got in recent weeks from my armband.

In a couple of last minute decisions, I opted for Philippe Coutinho to replace Paul Pogba rather than Ben Davies or Christian Eriksen. He returned just four points, but so did Eriksen and Davies didn’t even feature. Moving forward, I feel I have the right choice in Coutinho if he can rekindle last season’s form.

The other swap was Defoe out for Alexandre Lacazette, which I was going to leave until the Gunners played West Brom this Monday.

But having watched the Friday night fixture, I thought I would rather make the trade early to get Arsenal’s Sunday match versus Chelsea. It didn’t work as he blanked, but things could have been so different if the Frenchman hadn’t missed a glaring opportunity.

I’m pretty happy with my team and rate of transfers in relation to the average, my main worry is, of course, the lack of Man City attack, namely Aguero for this week.

Although City have some favourable fixtures, they’re still not really essential captain-wise, with Harry Kane or Romelu Lukaku a viable alternative in each matchday they play.

As mentioned above, Kane and Aguero are so close in price it almost feels like a head-to-head decision involving Kane +1 transfer v Aguero.

Such is my blind faith in Kane; I think I have made my choice.

Now, to take my seat behind that sofa…

Captain Plan

Sat 23rd – Kane (whu)
Sun 24th – Knockaert (NEW)
Mon 25th – Lacazette (WBA)

        It's actually pretty good:

        Forster - Fabianski
        Valencia - Azpilicueta - Walker - Lascelles - Clark
        Salah - Silva - Ritchie - Choupo-Moting - Gross
        Jesus - Morata - Wood

If you auto-fill I will as well 😆

But seriously, the striker conundrum is bugging me. Aguero and 2 others... but which 2

I'm going with the big 3 and sticking with them for at least 3 matches. I'm finding it impossible to decide who to drop.

However, I'm also tempted by Vardy and 2 of the big 3, with a better balance elsewhere.

WOO WOO, there's another one around? I'm captaining him as soon as I work out which method I use to get him in, 0.1m off straight swap... Here are my options....

      Hegazi -> Naughton/Mee

      Mounie -> Andy Carroll

Thoughts on the following moves for -4:

    Vardy + Antonio > Aguero + RLC

    Foster/Elliott
    Bavies / Jones / Simpson / Mee / Mbemba
    Alli / Salah / Brady / Antonio / Carroll
    Kane / Jesus / Vardy

    A. Lukaku (sot,CRY) + Naughton (WAT,whm)

    or

    B. Vardy (LIV,bou) + Alonso (sto,MCI)

Only consider the 2 gws as my team would be the same in gw 8 irrespective of the choice I make here.

      1. @persecuted_by_mods
        8 years, 10 months ago

I agree aguero now the better choice

I just know whatever I do I will get trolled

If I keep Jesus, Aguero will riot and if I get rid for -4, Jesus will probably score the same as Aguero but the -4 would put me negative

No doubt. I just never like having a player who doesn't play 90. Jesus this term has been taken off at around 60 mins. He is still scoring capable of damage but want my striker haven't every opportunity.

Of course this could change. We never know with Pep. Aguero could be the new 60 min man.

I don't know why but I'm a city fan and I would love for aguero to score some goals tommorow.

I'm not sure Jesus to aguero is worth it but it will be a nervous watch for the teamsheets.

      2. @persecuted_by_mods
        8 years, 10 months ago

Tbh I thought Aguero would be rotated more than I'm now realising. With this new information I think he's a better choice than Jesus and tbh from the eye test Aguero more central to attack and points whereas Jesus drifts

        1. Jarnathan
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 10 months ago

We all thought that - plus his form wasn't particularly good.

But now we know the Aguero we all knew is back. Pep can't ignore him, and Jesus is playing less minutes... not worth the price difference.

Normally I wouldn't advocate a -4, but I think Jesus is unlikely to start tomorrow - it's almost certain he'll play less than Aguero - who is on fire

    6. Jarnathan
      • 10 Years

I did exactly that after the midweek game.

Those advocating against it are terrified. It may backfire, but I suspect that at the very least, that move will pay for itself.

Man City after but that's a nice little run.

    Greetings!

My team currently has the following forward line:

    Choupo-Moting // Silva // de Bruyne // Richarlison

    Firmino // Lukaku // Kane

I have one FT and I'm sorely tempted by a filthy Man City TRIPLE UP, replacing misfiring Harry with white hot Sergio.

Does 3 City players represent over-kill, or, considering their mouth watering schedule, is this the prime time to load up?

    So,

    A) All my eggs in the City basket (it is against hapless Palace after all)

    or

    B) Keep faith in Harry

So its confirmed that its slower rising this year?

I hate it too really takes away some edge compared to players who dont know or focus on teamvalue. Now we dont have an edge the second half of the season..

      Would drop Willian > Atsu

And either upgrade Abraham, or give him another chance. I think Rashford will be great long term...and short term if he gets the start.

Assuming you're referring to Kane/lukaku to aguero? I've been tussling with this decision all week, I might have to ignore it due to price rises and hope for a cpl defensive masterclass.

        Indeed.

And then the ones that backed one good player who socred can claim great insight the next day and the ones that backed a good player that didn't scored must carry out the walk of shame.

        It's all rather silly isn't it 😉

We all have people on here whose opinions we respect (regardless of rank) that get us thinking differently/creatively. I'd be curious to see how this site would change if our opinions were tracked I.E.: If I backed X player last week to X amount of FPL managers and X player blanked. Ultimately this is all opinion based (grain of salt and all that jazz) but some take it way to far when they back a 50 players and one comes off.

Kak > Kun here, miles behind in ML, Kun(c) and Kane are my differentials versus ML leader.

Realised I wasn't getting any enjoyment out of Kak anyway...if I captained him, so did everyone else... If I captained Kane, I got punished...

Can't wait to get him back in next week for CPL(h) 😆
