Injuries

Reports surfacing this morning from Argentina have stated that Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident and will face up to three months on the sidelines.

City have since confirmed the accident and have issued a statement indicating that the player is due back at the club for assessment prior to the weekend meeting with Chelsea. No details of his confirmed injuries are offered up at this stage, although a press conference today will surely shed light on the situation.

Aguero is said to have suffered a fractured rib having been a passenger in a taxi en route to the airport in Amsterdam when the vehicle lost control and struck a column on the side of the road.

Sources in Argentina have already said that the striker could miss six to eight weeks due to the injury, which would obviously rule him out of the Gameweek 7 clash and Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers to follow.

Notably, Independiente, Aguero’s former club, wished the striker a “speedy recovery” on social media.

The news will come as a major shock and blow to Manchester City who only yesterday confirmed that left-back Benjamin Mendy had suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in the win over Crystal Palace.

Aguero was in superb form having struck a recent hat-trick at Watford in Gameweek 5, followed by an 11-point return with a goal and an assist against Palace last time out.

That form had triggered a huge rush of interest from Fantasy Premier League managers who had made Aguero the single biggest bandwagon of the season following his 20-point haul at Vicarage Road. Over 770,000 FPL managers swooped ahead of Gameweek 6.

The striker is currently part of 1.3 million squads, with his owners now waiting on further confirmation before doubtless moving to replace Aguero.

Gabriel Jesus – who was omitted from the Gameweek 6 line-up by manager Pep Guardiola – would seem assured of regular starts in the central striker role should Aguero’s injury be confirmed.

Equally, Raheem Sterling’s stock as a 7.9 midfield option would rise given his recent form, with continued starts more likely.

It’s an incredible twist of events that could de-rail Aguero and maybe City’s early season form. The timing coincides exactly with last season’s slump which followed ten successive victories.

We can only join in wishing Aguero a safe and quick recovery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Currently on -4 but have to do Kun to Kaku... If I do it should I captain Kaku instead of Kane?

      Yes

      Yeah would be sensible mate

Captain whoever you think will score more points. Don't feel like you "have to" captain Lukaku just because you are bringing him in for a hit.

    2FT, 0.6 ITB -

    Foster, Elliot

    Jones, Cedric, Lowton, Naughton, Simpson

Alli, Salah, Micky T, Atsu, Carroll

    Kane, Morata, Firmino

Best keeper to go with Elliot for 4.5 or less?

    Can't choose Fabianski

      9 years, 1 month ago

      Foster maybe.

    2. luke25
      9 years, 1 month ago

I've gone Joel Pereira, saves money and means I don't have to worry about benching points. For 4.5 maybe Hart, done poor but fixtures taking a turn and team seems to be playing better.

  8. Sverdet
    9 years, 1 month ago

With the Aguero news im really unsure of what to do, I really want Kane, but cant seem to find the funds. Any help would be appreciated, whether it be a plan for Kane or a recommendation of another striker.

    .1 ITB

    Fabianski (Elliot)
    Kolasinac, Otamendi, Jones (Martina, Naughton)
Eriksen, Salah, Mkhit, Atsu (Loftus cheek)
    Aguero, Lukaku, Chicha

    1. jam

You could go Eriksen - Silva, then Kun - Kane?
      So covering both teams...

That was the other option I was going to suggest.

Mkhitaryan > Ramsey - does that allow it?

Think ill do Mendy -> Kolasniac and Aguero -> Jesus for a -4 ?

Jones can sit on the bench with Ben Mee coming in

    Forster

Still not a good rotation though given the teams they play up until Xmas.

      Brighton Newcastle looks better

Jesus is the obvious choice lurking at the two city home games after international break but jesus has two games to play with Brazil and Pep can't afford to lose him.

Really considering Sané. He won't be playing much with germany and is firing all cyinders these days. However, not a really good prospect for this GW

    1. Ajax Hamsterdam
      9 years, 1 month ago

      What about sterling ?

    2. luke25
      9 years, 1 month ago

Sane and Sterling now solid options going forward you'd think. City's 3-5-2 has to be put on the shelf for a while considering Mendy/Aguero's injuries and no viable replacements in that formation.

  19. Rajveer
    9 years, 1 month ago

    A) Lukaku + Vardy
    Or
    B) Lacazette + Jesus ??

      B

      1. Rajveer

Thinking the same...Kun > Laca (c) this week then next week Firmino > Jesus...3rd forward is Morata

    2. OzilFozzil
      9 years, 1 month ago

With Aguero news B is actually a bigger potential for points

      1. Rajveer

At least you can do Aguero to Kane.

      1. Shultan

Its because i did kane > kun 2 weeks ago & left the money ITB. So its a swap back

      lukaku this week

  23. luke25
    9 years, 1 month ago

Saw someone make a good point earlier on Jesus, if he's their lone striker you have to hope he's involved in the first 2/3 goals because likelihood is he'll be taken off early to preserve him. Will be interesting to see if Bernardo Silva now gets more minutes.

  25. Deulofail
    9 years, 1 month ago

I have Morata, Sanchez and Chalobah in my team (after a hit). If I'd have waited till this morning to do transfers (instead of doing them last night), I would probably have Mkhitaryan, Jesus and Sterling instead (rolling a transfer).

Such big swings hang on timing of transfers. I'm still happy with my transfers, but it's always good to remember that Friday is the day!

Even mikh Morata and sterling would have been awesome

  26. Yordan Letchkov
    9 years, 1 month ago

    Any suggestion highly appreciated.
    1FT; 0.7itb.

    DDG Elliot
    Davies Kolasinac Hegazi Francis BSmith
    Eriksen Gross Ritchie Ayew Carroll
    Kane Lukaku Firmino

My plans are to do Ayew -> Mata for a one week punt and then take the wildcard next week cause I have to sort out my team and get some City/Chelsea cover.

Good move or do you think I could get more balance in the team with single steps?
