Gameweek 8 rolls on with an encounter at St Mary’s as Newcastle make the long-trip from Tyneside to take on Southampton.

In Fantasy terms, it’s fair to say that most managers would welcome a goalless draw; in both cases, it’s the defences that boast the greater Fantasy ownership.

Rob Elliot heads into today’s encounter backed by over 1.3 million managers, although 80% of those have chosen to bench the Newcastle keeper. This despite Southampton’s dismal record of scoring in just one of their last nine home matches – a 3-2 win over West Ham United in Gameweek 2.

Chancel Mbemba and Jamaal Lascelles are the other popular assets on show for the Magpies, claiming ownerships of 13.2% and 11.2% respectively. The latter takes his place in central defence alongside the recalled Florian Lejeune, though Mbemba is again out of the matchday squad following recent international exertions with DR Congo.

Further forward, both Matt Ritchie (4.9%) and Christian Atsu (4.2%) are named in Rafa Benitez’s line-up, despite having been withdrawn from their international squads.

For the Saints, Ryan Bertrand (10.9%) and Cedric (9.3%) are their most popular options on show as they go in search of a fourth clean sheet of the season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Couldn't it be just a dull 0-0...?

When you have two opposing attackers its always 0-0.

When you have two defs its always 6-6...

Yes there have been a lot of 6-6 scorelines this season.

Not sure poor tackle decision or just match fixing.

That approx 60 seconds after a pen awarded against your GK side is such a roller coaster. Massive anti climax when the net ripples.

Do you get pen save points for you keeper if the opposing player misses the pen wide lets say or does your keeper actually have to save it..?

Only for an actual save/touch. If the pen is wide then no.

After the last GW I was asking about Long or Gabbiadini for this good run they've got now. (3 home in 4 games with a favourable away in between) Both scoring points and I held Firmino after being ridiculed. Good times.

I really want Kun in for next week. Should I do

    A) Kane » Kun (and bring Kane back gw11)

    B) Lacazette + Eriksen » Aguero + Sterling

    C) Lacazette + salah » Aguero + Sterling

    D) B or C » Aguero + xx

    Concerned about Sterling rotation tho

Hey guys, I want Sterling or Silva in for Rambo but my defence also needs sorting out. Should I take a -4 hit and get a defender too? Any thoughts on defender? 6.2 ITB but I want to keep 1m in case I want Kun back for Jesus.

    DDG - Elliott
    Bavies - Mee - Hegazi - TAA - Mbemba
    Salah - Ramsey - Ritchie - Carroll - Richarlison
    Kane - Vardy - Jesus

6.2 ITB ? wow lol , yeah Ramsay to Sterling is a no brainer , also upgrade Hegazi to Jones and maybe Ritchie to Zaha next week , all them moves will still leave you with plenty ITB

Isn't Sterling a risk with Kun due back? He had a haul yesterday but Pep seems unconvinced by him.
Also, TAA needs to go before Hegazi right?

Ugly foul, bad intentio lifting his foot like that. Funny how he placed his hand on the ref’s shoulder...and the ref was like “get that stinking paw off me son”
