We roll out our usual post-Gameweek delve into the membersβ Opta data next, assessing some of the standout candidates over the weekendβs action.
Midfielders from Leicester, Liverpool and Stoke are among our Gameweek 11 headliners, as are Swansea and Brightonβs budget strikers, while we also analyse Romelu Lukakuβs recent decline in output as the transfers out continue.
Is triple Burnley defence overkill when going for budget defenders?
Inc Pope or spread it out a lil and get moreno, Morgan or Huds or Bha Defender?
Pope + Ward or Mee is good
Already own Pope and Ward I'm looking to downgrade Davies to upgrade elsewhere
Mee is a great pick but is 3 Burnley defenders bad
I'd look at Duffy/Dunk, Daniels, or Dann
All the D's
Yea triple is overkill
What would you suggest?
Own Jones Ward Daniels Davies Martina
After selling Davies though
Duffy/Dann
Davies > Otamendi
Wait till Everton job is sorted.
There defenders are usually pricey though as
I'm not advocating buying Everton defenders. But if Dyche goes do you think another manager is going to do as well at Burnley?
Diversify. Two Burnley, plus cheap Liverpool.
Elliot
Luiz Dunk Mee Jones
Salah Hazard Silva Moting
Kane Lukaku
Pereira D Gray Cedric Ladopo
What changes does this team need?
Is there a scout cast tonight?
Ask Chapelle he might rustle something together
Burnley or Bournemouth defender?
Burnley
Burnley
Burnley
Both?
Burnley
Pick Mee
Would this team be G2g?
DDG
Azpi Ward Jones dunk
Salah Silva Richarlison choupo
Kane Lukaku(c)
Elliot Abraham Carroll Ota
Very much so
Mo Salah £37Million.
Transfer of the season?
Chelsea reject!
So you think it is Lukaku?
I'm joking π
For sure the signing of the season, so far.
So was I.
A very shrewd piece of business in this day and age
Hard to say really. The prices mean nothing nowadays. Could cost far more than that when you look at salary and add ons and shit.
£37 million for 6th place
So much better than £60m for Sterling though eh
Do you think they will get 5th?
One of them for sure, Kolasinac for free is defo up there too
2nd after Oxlade
Richarlison £11m a contender
Or Groß £2.7m
Davies not a bad shout, he's smashed it. Imagine if he played regularly
Matic also a shrewd signing and i am a LIverpool supporter. What was Chelsea thinking!!!?
Sell Luiz to Baily or Daniels? I have Jones already so would mean United double up in the defence.
Man utd double up in defence is ok but i would rather buy Ddg with Jones, not Baily.
Preferably yes, but cant afford that without a hit, so no go.
Current team:
Fabianski
Walker Jones Simpson Kola
Sterling Atsu Salah
Kaku Kane Jesus
Subs: Elliot, Tarroll, Chalobah, Mbemba
Had 2 FT:
Made Eriksen to Salah before price rise
Wondering now:
A) Kola to Daniels and Atsu to Richarlison for -4
B) The same plus Simpson to Moreno/Burnley def
A with Mee/Ward instead of Daniels
I am watching MOTD 2
Pickford isn't very good
Looks better when he's on MOTD 1
I've wrote over and over again that he was the worst transfer of the summer. He's a great keeper on his day but like every other keeper he may prove fickle after a couple of off days. Keepers lose confidence.
Everton needed to spend that money elsewhere and so It's proved,
Being a great shot stopper does not make you a great keeper.
His handling is poor, he does not command the defence and doesn't inspire confidence. He has been at fault for a fair few goals already.
Usually rooted to his line when corners are taken. He needs to be more assertive
totally agree with you. it´s a pattern we see too often, shot stopping keepers in relegation teams who looks good but are not (Mignolet...)
Best one?
A) Bellerin-Atsu-Jesus-->Dunk-Zaha-Morata (-4)
B) Jesus-Lukaku-->Aguero-Morata (free)
C) Jesus -->Morata(save FT)
Probably C
A or C, if you're a patient man then A.
Lol, i mean C if you have patience.
C
Is King actually nailed with all those striker choices?
I would say yes
He's nailed.
For sure. The others are either too old or too injury prone.
Think he is a decent buy. He had very few goals at this stage last season too. If he plays like he did vs Newcastle then the goals are just around the corner.
Would you take a risk on Pogba ?
Possibly.
Would you?
He ain't no Tom Cleverly
Got two premium midfield slots - Salah and Sane .... Pogba's going to be relatively cheaper, so can pick him up if he starts outscoring either of those but no rush
When's he due back??
Oh, you're one of those with all questions but no replies.
looking to transfer alonso and ritchie out
A)Daniels+pogba/mkhi
B)4.6+sterling(Already have mee)
C)6.5+richarlison
D)other
other defenders/midfielders are jones mee vertonghen / cout, eriksen, silva
B.) Duffy
Go C but then get in Duffy/Daniels and bank the rest?
Eriksen > Sané (-4) worth it?
Other city coverage is jesus.
Not for a hit
No.
Cheers.
Absolutely
No
Just out of interest, what transfer have you already done this early?
I have 2FT and plan to do
Ota and vardy > jones and morata.
Oh I see. Nice moves.
Still saying no to the hit though?
No to the hit.
I fancy Eriksen to do well against Arsenal.
Sané could easily be rotated.
Don't feel so
Oy Lads,
Jesus → Lukaku for a hit? yay or nay
Nay. Free yes, hit no.
No
Lukaku has no form.
Not worth the hit.
Lukaku scores against weak opponents though?
City firing in the goals. Jesus could haul any given week, even off the bench. United don't look like scoring many.
Think they will as fixtures easen up and Pogba's back soon. But never know
Not even for free.
Jesus not nailed though? Already got Morata also.
It doesn't matter. There's too much concern over 'nailedness'. We have squads. Utilise yours. It's points that count, not minutes played. Remember that.
True, but not easy to score with 20-30min, also I can never captain him. Luckily I've got time to think this through π
This
At least he's nailed though, and good fixtures, no?
United getting Pogba, Fella, Zlatan and Rojo back now. He will start scoring again.
Everyone who had Lukaku before tough fixtures were selling him with intention to buy him back for the gw 12.
I don't know what's changed?
We all thought he will blank in the past 3 games and he did. Now, will he also score well next 3 games? I think he will.
Yepp. Especially now that Pogba and Fella are back.
That's what I'm thinking too, yes.
The change is partly fixture, partly Pogba and that we have other viable candidates instead. To me Newcastle and Brighton and to a certain extent Watford seems much more tougher than West ham, Swansea and Everton. And i think people realise that whenever United is op vs top 6 he will not score due to gameplan
Any thoughts on this one......
Otamendi and Ward > Azpi and mee.
Thanks in advance. cheers.
Not sure. Azpis a bit flavour of the month and could dry up real quick.
I was thinking that with Kante back .. and fixtures swinging decently to them soon, it might be a good one--was thinking of sideshow bob- a.k.a. Luiz, but that looks risky at the moment.
on WC? sure
otherwise no
Don't sell Otamendi, he's good as Azpi..
What's everyones thoughts on Murray as 3rd striker?
Mint mate
Prefer the Toffee duo.
Have you watched him? He's terrible.
Good option imo...
Niasse or Calvert Lewin?
None, I guess?
Think I’ll probably need a sub 5m striker eventually. Eve have good fixtures across xmas too.
I like the young lad. Seems to be in a lot of dangerous areas..
None.
Niasse as long as Unsworth is there.
Lallana & Coutinho back for LFC after the international break. Crazy attacking options. Pelligrino and Southampton could be in for a horsing..
Lallana just 7.3...
Very tempting. Apparently has a game behind closed doors in midweek.
And I am forced to start Cedric this week.
Go me.
Surely going to be massive rotation risk over the next number of game weeks. Ox will be demanding game time then you've got Cout, Mane, Firm, Salah, Hendo, Can, Wijni, Milner, Sturridge, Solanke etc. etc.
Hopefully Salah has done enough to prove that he is essential
Nah, I think the fab four is pretty nailed but you won´t get 90mins every time. Lallana could easily play in midfield along Henderson and Coutinho esp in games at home vs weaker opp and also vs top teams as Lallana is their main gegenpresser. Rotation wil be more in terms of rotate between which play 60 and which plays 70-90. And they will have one or two injured... inevitably
What is your ideal back 5? Based on current form and upcoming fixtures, I reckon the ideal back 5 is:
Azpilicueta, Jones, Daniels, Ward, Duffy
(Can chop and swap cheapies if you prefer Francis, Mee, Dunk)
Looking ahead through GW30, this combination will never face more than 2 of the “big 6” sides in the same week, leaving you with 3 reasonable starters each week.
You could swap Azpi to a Spurs defender for the same result bar GW25 which would have 3 tricky fixtures. You could also swap Daniels to a Spurs defender, but this would obviously cost more of your budget.
Surely an argument to have Moreno in there. Attacking threat and very decent run of fixtures for LFC along with a cheap price tag..
I’m just not keen on Liverpool defense personally. Others on here like them though.
Otamendi, Azpi, Jones, Mee, Duffy
My IDEAL back 5?!
Azpi, Walker, Valencia, Vertonghen, Jones.
Sure, good luck with starting Abraham, RLC, and Tom Carrol in attack each week though....
On WC:
Bring Lukaku in and transfer to Morata before GW14 or go for Morata now and use the money elsewhere?
I'm bringing in both. Both look primed for points now..
Also an option, but without Kane..you also have Kane?
No. Ditched on WC. Really liked owning him but pisses me off to often in straightforward fixtures. I can live without him if I have those 2 and an upgraded midfield
Go Lukaku imo.
Lukaku and then switch to Morata if you want.
Last IB til spring!
7 GW's in December alone, a month that's hopefully going to turn things around for me!
Enjoy this break while it lasts, regroup and come out fighting.
Good luck! π
It's going to be madness, my poor poor wife π
She always asks if I am mad at her at weekends when I am ticked off that Harry Kane has blanked again at home against easy opposition and I just tell her I am fine but not very convincingly.
This! Lool
Didn't realise Longlatini was your wife!
Individual is his wife keep up π
No my wife doesn't play FPL she just provides a captain pick each game week. This time it was Salah but I opted for Kane AGAIN!
Hope she picks (c) Kane next time!
In the 6 weeks of club football left in this calendar year, City play 13 games. They play every midweek in between their weekend games.
With Pep steering away from 3 at the back and the return of Kompany imminent, is it not the perfect time to offload Otamendi/Stones to cheaper alternatives? As both will likely miss a few games from Peps rotation.
Or can people see him shifting back to 3 at the back with Delph/Danilo playing LWB?
There is the risk of rotation everywhere in City and Kompany will certainly impact Otamendi and Stones minutes. I am personally offloading Otamendi for Jones. Utd defence cover seems a must right now and Otamendi's suspension make the move easy.
Goodness, remember Danilo!! Ha, the good old days..
Who is the best defender to invest in?
Daniels 4.8
Dunk 4.4
Thanks
Daniels for me.
Thanks
Dunk out of those 2 but get both if you can
Mark, please stop flagging all my players. They're not injured!
What would you do with this lot? 2FT 1.3 itb
Elliot Krul
Bavies Otamendi Jones Fernandez Rosenior
Salah Sterling Richarlison Gross Carroll
Kane Aguero Vardy
I'm thinking Krul Bavies to Pope Moreno
Pope mee
Yea def a case to be made for the double up but since fixtures are a bit the same in the near future, I'd like to spread the risk a bit
Decent shout that
Good moves but with Mee over Moreno, and then Vardy > Morata.
From GW14 and onwards, who would you rather have?
A) Ramsey (HUD, MCU, sou)
B) Richarlison (MCU, TOT, bur)
C) Zaha (bri, wba, BOU)
D) Shaqiri (LFC, SWA, tot)
E) Gross (CRP, LFC, hud)
F) Other max 7.0 mid
G) Downgrade Aguero to Vardy/firm and get a premium priced midfielder instead of the other options (sane, eriksen, mane)
Cheeeers
Zaha for those fixtures. Richarlison in the long run though.
Also my thought atm.. could always shift for Rich later on
E
Gross got these games as keeps on delivering
Took early -4 for Cedric to Jones and DSilva to Salah while could afford. So this will be team for next game week injuries permitting. Somehow feel bit negative about team with no Chelsea attack and/or second Man City attack so interested in your thoughts on it. Strong enough or not?
Pope
Jones Ward Daniels
Salah Sterling Richarlison Choupo-Moting
Kane Lukaku Vardy
Elliot Davies RLC Fernández
Team looks good, but I would have waited to swap Silva to Salah, Liverpool has Chelsea next week and even Southampton this week could be tricky. I don’t have Salah either and may bring in Mane instead if I get priced out.
Cheers for that. Just felt Salah form so good had to get in now.
I understand and almost did the same. I have 1.4m in the bank begging me to swap Silva to Salah for a hit. I’ve stayed strong so far!!!!
am i the only thinking of ditching Kane again for Aguero??? (which I didnt even consider this morning π ). I could captain Kun every game and if he doesnt play surely Sane will so it looks perfect doesnt it...too perfect even ??? what do you guys think ? With Kane blanking SO MANY matches this might be the right time to do it and get a precious in my mini league since nearly everyone else has Kane.
forget that post, looking at the fixtures Kane is still the main man i think π
Remember when people captained Sterling who didn’t play, and had Jesus VC who played 14 minutes for 1 point? VC has to be a guaranteed starter or could be a massive fail.
very true thanks π
WC Team thoughts appreciated
Pope Elliott
Mee azip Jones Daniels Duffy
Zaha sane surman Salah richarlsn
Kane kun murray
My dear friends... would your appreciated opinion would you advise me to:
A. Morata + RLC (3-4-3)
B. Mane + Niasse (3-5-2)
I understand that there is more value in RLC at 4.5 than Niasse at 4.9 but I think Morata will struggle at the hawthorns (albeit dawson is out) and Liverpool away looks like a blank too whilst Mane has two lush fixtures at home.
Any feedback or new information will be warmly welcomed π
A
Niasse is not nailed
A for me too
A
Thank you all for your feedback, I will go with A
