Friday delivers our weekly Sky Sports Focus article, as we take a look back at the previous round of action before preparing you for the forthcoming Gameweek, starting with tonight’s kick-off at the London Stadium.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 15 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Arsenal vs Tottenham HotspurMesut Ozil
Crystal Palace vs EvertonRuben Loftus-Cheek
West Brom vs ChelseaEden Hazard
Bournemouth vs HuddersfieldCallum Wilson
Liverpool vs SouthamptonMohamed Salah
Leicester vs Man CityLeroy Sane
Burnley vs SwanseaAshley Barnes
Man United vs NewcastlePaul Pogba
Watford vs West HamWill Hughes
Brighton vs StokeEric Choupo-Moting

Midfielders dominated the awards this week, with only Ashley Barnes and Callum Wilson bucking the trend.

Mohamed Salah picked up his fourth accolade of the season, and a second successive award – he now tops the MoTM table alongside Harry Kane and Kevin De Bruyne.

Eric Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sane, Eden Hazard and Mesut Ozil all collected their second gong and look good options moving forward.

Will Hughes, at 7.5, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (7.3) also threw their hats in the ring as budget options, although with Brazilian starlet Richarlison at just 7.6, they are unlikely to attract too much attention.

Gameweek 15 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 18 points or more in bonus for the season.

members

Man City players continue to dominate the bonus points, with six Sky Blues placed in the top ten positions.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form, and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in the right direction.

Notes

I head into the top 1,000 after back-to-back weeks of over 100 points – and that was despite Nicolas Otamendi being suspended and John Stones withdrawn early on through injury.

My midfield is carrying the team at present, as Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Richarlison netted me 69 points between them. Each of those players is the “star man” in their respective teams and I’m now coveting another in Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman grabbed 16 points on his return to the United starting XI, picking up where he left off before his injury. He now looks a better option in Sky Sports than team-mate Romelu Lukaku, particularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic lurking. Working out how best to work Pogba into my team is the issue, however.

A move to 4-5-1 looks my only way without wholesale changes. Removing the injured John Stones, Lukaku and Mathias Jorgensen for Phil Jones, Andreas Christensen and Pogba is my current thinking, although with Jones currently injured and Christensen far from an assured starter, I’m still uncertain on those trades.

I may well hold off until Tuesday and Wednesday to gain more information before committing my transfers.

Captain Plan

Fri 24th – None
Sat 25th – Kane (WBA)
Sun 26th – De Bruyne (hud)
Tues 28th – Kane (lei)
Weds 29th – Hazard (SWA)

Simple question for a different fantasy game (transfers are way cheaper - basically same point system)

Sane or Morata? (Already have hazard - no citymatter cover)

    To find £0.1 would you:

    1. Daniels (Bou) > Cook (Bou)
    2. Moreno > 4.4m (Dunk / Yedlin / Other)

Other defenders - Otamendi, Mustafi and Mee. As it would be a 5th choice, I am tempted to go 2 > Dunk.

I remember watching Gary Megson's Bolton many years ago and thinking to myself how utterly awful they are and how hapless he is as a manager. As such, I can't help but captain Kane this weekend against them even though I said after Palarse that I'd never captain him at Wemberley again against one of the schitty teams.

If you look at his Wemberley blanks, Swansea and Burnley are defensively good sides. Bournemouth have proved they know how to keep a clean sheet and Howe is a decent manager. Palace came to Wembley after Hodgson fixed them up a bit. I don't expect the same from Megson, who hasn't really had any time to change anything.

I don't even have Kane. 7 blanks in 11 games is not good for a 12.8 striker.

Not saying he won't finish up with 20-30 goals but playing at Wembley was always going to affect Spurs in some way or another and when you have the likes of Morata, Lukaku, Aguero, Jesus all doing well for much less I would rather go without.

      1. Nomar

        It's a conundrum.

The problem is who do you replace him with?

After Lukaku and Morata none of the other premium forwards are nailed and you need nailed players for this upcoming stretch.

The other problem is that there are no mid priced forwards worth getting either, so you can't go cheap up front and stack your midfield.

        1. rozzo
          • 12 Years
          8 years, 3 months ago

You can go 352 and swap Kane for the likes of De Bruyne, Hazard or beef up the defence with Alonso/Azpi

I have Aguero in a 343 and it's a similar conundrum - I want rid but I don't want Kane, no other forwards are tempting me. It has to be a 352

I've had doubts about him in all the previous home games, and still captained him. This week, I have no such doubts. This may be due to last year. Captain hole to burnley and Swansea. Nothing. Sold, others bought before west brom next hole game and captained, scored 4 I believe. So. Spurs 5-0 West Brom

How do these planned moves look?

    GW 13: Jones > Otamendi

Pretty good, but I think Hazard will prove to be the better Chelsea pick over the xmas period. I have Mahrez and Morata currently, planning on switching that to Vardy and Hazard over the next week or two

The Hazard/Morata thing boils down to being able to at least have a 4.5 starter on your bench from midfield. Can't be said for a striker so Morata option wins.

          Interesting opinion. My planned attack is as follows;

          Salah Sane Hazard Richarl Choupo
          Kane Vardy Niasse

Isaac Hayden will miss the game through suspension. Paul Dummett [hamstring], Christian Atsu [thigh] and Jamaal Lascelles [ankle] are still recovering and won't be ready. #NUFC

Everyone is potentially a rotation risk over this period! There is literally no way to determine who will and won’t get rotated over the next few GWs (8 days) just be hopefully your bench is strong enough for a few no shows. Sit back, relax and ride the roller coaster with the rest of us! Good luck all!

    Which move?

    1) Alli to Sane (bench Tammy / RLC) or
    2) Tammy to Wilson (bench RLC)

Thinking 1). Getting Sane has to be the priority. Wilson is injury prone and won't play every game in this busy period.

    Thanks!

Play Cresswell vs LEI or Azpilicueta (-4)?

I was gonna get Azpi next week for a hit anyway.
