We delve into the Opta data next, rolling out our usual post-Gameweek members’ article.

Both Merseyside clubs play a part in our assessment, while we also check out the contrasting fortunes from West Ham and Watford’s goal scoring midfielders.

Southampton’s in-form frontman is also among our featured players, as is a certain Man City wide man after a weekend return to the scoresheet.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

'Personal reasons' - lots of speculation online but let's leave it at that. What we do know is that he's in Valencia at the moment to be with his family. Have to wait for official news.

I think it's worth a -4 hit to get another man city mid as good possibility of a double digit return. Glad to see the personal issue has remained personal.

I'm finally admitting defeat, need to sell Jesus. Can spend up to 10.7. Do I get Morata or Lacazette? Can also be persuaded to get Firmino, though I don't like his inconsistency.

I'm not considering Rooney, unless someone can convince me his returns are sustainable and not a fluke due to all the penalties and other random luck.

Neither, try going for power 5 midfield till New year

I'm happy with my midfield as it is - I've been playing 3-5-2 for a while now and it's been doing the job nicely. Had Ramsey & Richarlison as my two cheaper mids, now got Lingard since last week so I've made good moves there. Not keen to take a hit so the power 5 can wait until the new year, if the pattern remains the same.

If you get Morata in and he picks up that yc, then again even if he doesnt will he play the mid-week game either way?
      Lacazette, no way for me.
Firmino, I'm in two minds about him atm.
Jesus could come on for 20 mins and still score some points?

For me, Morata is the better asset to get in out of those by some way with fix. I'm just concerned about his game time!

        1. Pierce34
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

I feel like if he's fit, he'll start (even if he doesn't get 90 minutes), as I don't think Conte would like to play Hazard on his own too often and obviously he doesn't trust Batshuayi. That yellow does scare me though...

Lacazette - should get playing time now that Giroud pulled his hamstring.

      2. Pierce34
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 2 months ago

That's what I was thinking about Jesus prior to the cup tie, but now that he played 120 minutes I feel like he probably won't be in the squad at all. At least that's what happened with Aguero when he played the whole match vs. Wolves. If I felt Jesus was likely to get a few minutes I'd probably keep to be honest as he'd surely get more playing time in the next one.

Are laca and Morata any less inconsistent?
I think the Everton run is over, of next 5 games 3 are v spurs, man u and Chelsea, other 2 are away, admittedly against poor teams but Everton are now very defensive away from home.

I would be surprised if Kane doesn't have a few good chances in that game. Sound's like you're happy to gamble against him so go for it. I'm personally considering captaining him

not happy to gamble just seeing the fixtures and it's difficult to decide really.I would probably get him back for the double with 2 transfers but it's good to change a bit always had him from the start

            1. La Gazzetta
              • 8 Years
              8 years, 2 months ago

Yeah I know the feeling. I've slowly been sliding down the ranks but I'm trying hard to hold players like Kane and hazard and just try to get the captaincy right a few weeks in a row rather than changing things too much. If you don't fancy him to score a brace in either of those fixtures probably worth going for.

Deciding who to drop out of Morata and Kane. Kane blank gw suggests dropping him. However, isn't it likely Morata will be rested for one of the next 3 anyway?

Therefore both will play 2/3 and I'll save the necessary transfer of bringing Kane back in.

    Thoughts?

Planning ahead to GW22 - I want to have some defensive cover from both Spurs and West Ham. Do you prefer

    A) Lloris & Masuaku

    B) Adrian & Vertonghen

A is 0.5 cheaper but I guess more rotation threat with Masuaku? I really don't like Vertonghen though...

I think it depends on the structure you prefer. if you like a more expensive keeper, than go with A and have the ability to switch easily to DDG If you prefer cheaper keepers, then I'd go with B, knowing that Vert is an easy switch to Jones, Christensen, Otamendi, and others in that bracket.

Thanks. I'm not sure I have an answer to that, as I have Courtois at the moment but I'm quickly realising his points can be covered by much cheaper options. (would've been different if Chelsea hadn't conceded to Huddersfield and Newcastle of course!)

Looking at a cheap 6.5 forward
    My three options currently are:

    A. Austin (HUD) (tott) (mutd) (PAL) (wat)
    B. Gray (bri) (LEI) (SWA) (mcity) (SOU)
    C. DCL (CHE) (wba) (bour) (MUTD)
    D. Other

Already have Niasse (yes i know).
Have Richarlison, but he's becoming Pogba next week
Leaning towards Gray seeing as though Deeny misses the next 3 games.

Hopefully Andy puts up some acoustic foam or soft furnishings soon to absorb some of the sound reflections on the bare walls of his brand new house. Also, a shelf with books would help diffuse the soundwaves and improve the audio quality of his streams.

A proper microphone and slightly improved lighting would also elevate the production to the next level.

I prefer Arnie and his threat, but you should monitor his minutes. Lanzini is probably more likely to play the double due to his forced rest.

For me, though, it might come down to who I want even longer term. Yes, having the guy more likely to play both games in 22 is nice, but their fixtures are awfully good after that, so I'd be inclined to just get the one you like more and the points will follow over the long run.

yeah, actually im not thinking about dgw too much, just want they in my team for long term..seems like lanzini will get more minutes than arnie, and arnie has sakho, chicha and sakho to fight in his place(am i right?).now im leaning toward lanzini....but think both are great option

Google isn't giving me much, and FPL news isn't big here in the US, sadly. So I figured I'd ask here: Any word on Ward's knee injury?

Or is he even worth keeping at the moment with Spurs, United twice, Pool and City over the next eight gameweeks?

I have Duffy, too. I'm hanging on to him. He's cheap, he plays (despite suspension) and he's got good fixtures, save for Chelsea. But I have cover for him.

Hmmm hadn't considered this. Although that would mean getting rid of Richarlison and I fancy him to score this week.

I think I'll hold this week and will look at doing Morata and RLC to DCL and Coutinho/Sane/Pogba next week. I'd really like to get KDB but that would require getting rid of Kane and I'm not quite ready for that yet...

I don't like this too much. The matches are only one day apart, so you run a very real risk of bringing in six players from those teams only to have one or two actually play both matches.

I think there will be better uses of the free hit chip later in the season, to be honest.

Just for fun and based on what has happened so far this year and if 21 and 22 were not a factor I would go for something like this.
Mainly a 451. What ye think? It's nearly affordable I would be about .4 short right now.

    De Gea Elliot

    Alonso Christensen Otamendi Jones Mee

    Salah Cout Sterling Sane Pogba

    Morata DCL Quaner

It's very tempting, that team looks great. One issue though is that it lacks flexibility. There will come a time when you'll want more than one premium forward and there won't be a very easy way to get one.

It's just for fun anyway. No way I am going early WC on the second one. Since the chips came in and how good they are for dgws I ain't doing that. Work towards something similar slowly with a bit more flexibility.

Not a fan of the two cheap striker slots, presumably you'd be playing 4-5-1 a lot with this formation. Think there's plenty of good cheap defenders options that are more value than the big hitting defenders. I'd probably downgrade Coutinho to a mid-range midfielder and upgrade Morata to Kane as well long-term.

It's tricky, and goes to show how important team value can be. Jumping on a player bandwagon early and timing your transfers well can make all the difference.

Yeah the front line is probably too weak and it's just a wish list and does not factor in fixtures where a decent cheap defender could replace some of the big hitting defenders. Thanks for reply.
Don't agree on Cout he is basically 8 points a game this year where he has got decent minutes. Probably gone in January anyway but I hope not.

I suppose it's not a vital issue if the rest of your team looks okay. There always seems to be at least one player in a season you end up carrying for a lot longer than you feel comfortable with.

The shift is definitely towards a two striker formation for most people I think, maybe even one if people can afford a premium midfield and defence. So your third striker becomes of relatively less importance.

Not sure about it. I was going to play Dunk and bench Fernandez but odds confused me little bit. Surely Watford are struggling recently (same as Brighton tbf) but home side is pretty tight at back (excluding Liverpool at home) and Dunk should be main goal threat on set pieces with Duffy suspended.

DS stats prefer Brighton in that fixture (+93) so let's see what the bookies say...

          Brighton 31/20
          Draw 21/10
          Watford 19/10

          Clean sheet odds:
          Brighton 2.80 36%
          Watford 3.10 32%

At first glance a tad confusing but I'd say score draw looks likely with maybe even Watford edging it 1-2. Who knows lol

Sterling the obvious captain choice from my team then, and yet I still plan on leaving it on Salah.

Thanks mate. Hoping a double Utd defence can keep out Leicester. I would haven Utd's odds higher than that tbh

Still confident in that Swans CS % given they are manager-less?

I never was that's why I wrote I fancy Crystal Palace in that fixture.

"Are they sure about those odds for Swansea? Palace are no longer playing to their poor early season form and to me look on the way up. I fancy them to get at least a draw and they look good value for the win imo."

Great stuff! Arsenal slight favourites over Pool! Interesting

Stupid question but who's the better pick out of...

    Smalling and Jones?

On past experience I would say play it safe with Jones ...

Not sure it's possible to really tell, but it'd be interesting to see how many made the switch to a Power 5 midfield after the Scoutcast.

I've been thinking about it, even before the Scoutcast, but I don't have the cajones to drop Kane. At least not before the DGW.

Power 3 of Hazard, Sterling and Salah for me right now. Admittedly I've been looking at bringing in KDB for Chalobah but that means losing Azpilicueta and DCL for Masuaku and Firmino.
May go for that at in a couple of weeks as I'm not going to take a hit to do it...
