We delve into the Opta data next, rolling out our usual post-Gameweek members’ article.

Both Merseyside clubs play a part in our assessment, while we also check out the contrasting fortunes from West Ham and Watford’s goal scoring midfielders.

Southampton’s in-form frontman is also among our featured players, as is a certain Man City wide man after a weekend return to the scoresheet.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I still think Morata is Top 2 best striker options?I understand a power 5 midfield but I don’t like having two cheap strikers incase expensive forwards start to do it.

While I see the thinking behind this team, surely you would want more City cover and not go with 2 out of form strikers?? Theres a new WC in a couple of weeks. I would gamble a little more with this WC.

Something like a city triple up in midfield. Dump Kane and Morata so you can afford Salah and Pogba still.

          Something like:

          Alonso, 4.5, 4.5, 4.5, 4.5
          Salah, Pogba, Sterling, Sane, KDB
          Rooney, Firmino, Quaner

That's just one idea, but you get what i mean. Your WC team looks a lot like the team a lot of other people are moving away from...

I know what your saying but I intend to keep my second WC for double GWs and I am doing well in my mini league and overall so don’t really want to take any real gambles to be honest.

I would at least consider a replacement for Pope and more City coverage. Kenny might lose his place soon and Watford are terrible defensively at the moment...

Coutinho and Salah could be in the points against Arsenal though. THose games have recently been very high scoring!

    Is three City mids overkill?

Price point, and they're all up there with top points scorers and seem unstoppable, with 4 juicy fixtures upcoming.

I don't think so at all with those 4 fixtures. I am seriously considering it myself. Only problem is rotation and rests, but even with the rotation, they are still top of the points standings. So no issue really...

    3. FlockofSeagulls
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

I think it's very viable option.

There's nothing to suggest their form or fpl points will regress. You may have to deal with the odd rotation, but I think as long as one of the 3 is the more nailed KDB or Silva (if he returns soon) I don't see why it can't work and work well. Especially over the next 9 gws. Those fixtures are ridiculous!

    4. FlockofSeagulls
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

I will add that if you do it you have to commit to it 100% over those fixtures. The minute you doubt it or start swapping and changing you'll start missing the points.

Ok. Burnley (who have been our cheap defence darlings IMHO) have a SERIOUSLY ugly fixture list coming up. Do we:

    A) show gross disloyalty and dump them, taking hits, or

    B) hang on in there - fixtures aren't everything, or

    C) slowly move them out accepting any short term damage?

When asked who his preferred striker is in an interview he had with Gary Neville recently, Pep clearly stated there is no rhyme or reason to his selection between the two as he sees both as two equally world class strikers.

He said every player in the squad has to commit to his style and game plan which never changes, hence it doesn't matter who he picks in any position as long as they follow his game plan.

Basically he said he trusts that both Aguero and Jesus are capable of playing in his system so neither is favored over the other.

In other words, he'll continually rotate the two when and how he wants.

way things are going don't see either City striker as reliable or even a decent option.
last 8 gameweeks City scored 21 goals. Strikers combined scores 5 of those.
Sterling averages twice as many touches in the box than either striker when they start.

        I agree.

I wouldn't go near them regardless of their potential to score big in an odd game. Their ownership is also low enough that any big scores wouldn't affect anything much.

    (Elliot Carroll DCL Daniels)

    Is this G2G?
I can't shake the feeling that owning Sterling and potentially Sane could be critical over the next 4 gameweeks.
The only way I can see is Kane RLC Carroll > Quaner Sterling Sane, but this would be (-12)...and leave me with a 'strong' 4-5-1. If Kane blanks, Kun/Sterling/Sane combo could potentially repay the hits next week v BOU...and juicy fixtures forever.
Any doubts over Kun after this week and could move to Morata (BHA STK) before returning to Kane for the DGW, with probably Sane > Son/Lanzini as facilitator.

Not a big mess. Defense needs some attention. Niasse to DCL when you can.

Do we know if Tarkowski is getting a ban? Either way, play Dunk instead?

    Captain KDB or Sterling?

    Pope
    Tarkowski/Otamendi/Christensen/Alonso
    Hazard/Sterling/KDB/Richarlison/Salah
    Lukaku

    Elliot/Dunk/Depoitre/DCL

    Really think this could work!

Kane back in GW22 with 2FTS.

    Kane > Quanar
    RLC > Pogba
    Richarlison > KDB

    Gives me this 451 ✅ :

    DDG
    Ota Christ Jones Ogbonn
    Haz Sal Ster KDB Pog
    Morata
    ————————————
    Elliot DCL Quanar Hune

So, DGW coming up, and though some like to take a few hits for the occasion or even play a WC/free hit etc, I like to slowly drip drip a DGW player into my squad each week in the weeks leading up to it. With this in mind, who do you think are the top 4 targets from each team to get in your squad (I include 4 to include an alternative to the obvious candidates) ?
    Spurs:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

    West Ham:
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

      Kane + Son/Eriksen

      Ogbonna/Masuaku/Adrian + Lanzini

I've already got Vertongen, thinking of getting Eriksen and Son and then captaining Son for a cheeky differential. Like my team and crowbarring Kane into it would mess it up big time.

As for West Ham, perhaps Lanzini, Masuaku and Lanzini, but by my current budget would be on -0.1 so may have to give up the last one.

I've just got a feeling it's going to be a disappointing DGW, might avoid the West Ham players bar one defender/keeper.

Currently own Kane and Ogbonna. Will add Masuaku, Lloris and Eriksen I think.

Would be lucky to find 4 players from each teams that play twice

I guess the no Silva news probably indicates it's something bad?

    So either:

    a) Morata + Gros —> Sterling Rooney (-8 points)
    b) hold and wait

Full squad : Schmeichel, Lossl, Alonso, Azpilicueta, Gomez, Long, Schindler, Richil, Son, Mahrez, Doucoure, Gros, Morata, Kane, Calvert Lewin.
